Kristen's pov.
I sat quietly on my bed as I kept trying to call Richard, but there was no response. I looked at the time on the wall, it was a little past the time I was supposed to call.
“What could have happened?” I muttered as I stared at the phone. “Could they be busy?”
I heard a knock on my door, my heart skipped a beat as I hid my phone under my bed. I got up and walked to the door, taking a deep breath, I opened it revealing Gath.
“Hi,” I greeted as my mouth stayed open. “Can I help you?”
“Do you have some minutes to spare?” He asked.
I nodded quietly as I stepped out. “What do you want to talk about?”
“Not here” he revealed as he grabbed my hand. “Please follow me” he smiled as he dragged me away.
Gath led me to an observatory room, my lips curled into a faint smile as I admired the room, it was the biggest observatory room I had ever been to. It had many telescopes and many drawings of stars the moon and the mountains.
Gath smiled as he watched me admiring the room, he pulled down a lever and a huge door slid open revealing a big aquarium.
My mouth fell open as I walked to the aquarium, placing my hands on the glass, there were different octopuses, fishes and Sea horses swimming freely without any disturbance. It was really beautiful.
“What is this place?” I asked as I turned to him.
“My father loved this place he called it his second love, a second family… I always laughed at him and told him, he just didn't care about us” he narrated.
“Was your father the Alpha of this pack?”. My brows furrowed in curiosity.
“Briefly” he smiled. “Until your father killed him”.
My face flickered to shock as my jaws dropped open. “Do you know my father?”
“How can I forget the man who killed my family, Dominic's parents and Jake's parents?” He scoffed.
“I don't believe you” My fists clenched in anger, my eyes glistening in tears as I swallowed hard.
“It was a rampage against the two packs… I never had resentment towards your father, he was just doing his work, sometimes I tell myself that this pack that they worked for are the killers, the elders, the Alpha…” he paused with a scoff.
“Did…were…” I stuttered as tears choked up my words in my throat.
“Kill your father?” He turned to me. “I didn't” he shook his head.
“Did they…” my words trailed off as my face flickered to fear, “could it be Dominic?” I thought as my mind clouded with unsettling thoughts.
“I wish the person responsible wasn't alive to see what great mistake he has committed” he glared. “If the person could just see what he caused, the enmity between both packs, he wouldn't have done that”.
“Do you know the man?” I frowned as my breath became heavy. “Do you know the man?” I snapped.
“I don't think I know that man and I don't want to ever know him”. He replied as he walked closer to me. “I didn't call you here to tell you about your father's death”.
“How long has Dominic known this?” I smoldered. “Was that why he met me and used me?” I cried.
“That is not what happened” he defended. “Dominic didn't know, immediately he found out he …” he paused.
“He what?” I demanded.
“His hatred for you grew” he replied as tears rolled down his face. “He tried to love you despite knowing everything but he couldn't, he only felt hatred” he added.
“What do you know?” I swallowed hard as sadness flitted across my face.
“What do you want to know?” he locked eyes with me.
“Everything” I replied, my eyes widened and rimmed with tears. “I want to know everything”.
He nodded in approval. “Dominic was born to great rogues, his father was a man of integrity…” he paused as he bit his lips. “That was how I remembered it”.
“Stop stalling” I frowned. “What happened?”
“His father and mother were great figures to the pack, they were close to the late Alpha and Dominic was like a son to the Alpha…” he paused as he took in deep breaths. “Something terrible happened when we and another rogue pack were fighting for a particular territory, your father was the Alpha representing the rogue hunters, he came to settle the dispute and that was how we lost the territory to the other pack, you can imagine the insult we faced from other rogue packs”. He chuckled as he nodded his head in disbelief.
“What else happened?” I frowned as I gestured for him to continue.
“The Alpha decided to do something to get back at your father, I remember Dominic's father telling him that there was no need, he told him that the no man's territory was enough and they didn't deserve the land in the first place, the elders thought that was just words of cowards, the Alpha had to threaten Dominic's father, he had no choice than to obey the Alpha, he took my dad and Jake's father with him…” he paused.
“What are you holding back?”
“Well, let us just say things happened and led to things” he shrugged. “In the war, we lost many rogues from different packs, almost twenty rogue packs were destroyed by your father, so it is not surprising he had many enemies”.
“So Dominic hates me for what my father did?” I cried. “But that doesn't give him the right to play with my heart”.
“I don't” he supported. “Dominic was just wandering around when he saw you, it was love at first sight, he didn't want to let go of you”. He explained.
“So he wasn't a fugitive?” I scoffed as I clutched my hands on my chest. “The more I get to Dominic the more it only proves Noah right” I muttered.
“Only Dominic can answer that, he has a mission to deal with in the human land but he found you and got distracted, that was the first time I saw Dominic support my decision” he chuckled.
“Support your decision?” My brows furrowed in curiosity.
“Like you said I am just a shadow of the real Alpha, and so are Jake and Dominic but the difference between me and them is that I left this pack years ago, I went to live among the humans”. He revealed.
I stared at him quietly.
“How long has it been…” he pouted his lips as he scratched his hair. “It has been ten years I think”. He shrugged.
“What did you do in the human world?”
“I pursue my dreams, I own a very successful coffee shop, I own a small fashion house, we have great designs, I might not live a lavish life as I did here but I am happy, I don't have to listen to the stupid elders grumbling, all I think about is myself and my wife”
“Your wife?” I scoffed. “You have a wife?”
“Human wife” he smiled. “And she knows everything about this pack”. He added.
“But why are you telling me all this and why did you bring me here?”
“I am telling you this because of that” he pointed to my shoulder. “I heard from Agatha that you do not want the scar gone.
“If you brought me here to talk about keeping the scar then I am sorry but you are only wasting your time”.
“No, I liked the fact that you are not that emotional girl I knew years back, you changed, I called you here because I wanted to tell you the truth about Dominic, then you decide what you want to do”.
“I have decided” I shrugged, my face flickered to seriousness. “I am not staying in this pack because of him, I am staying here for my man, so if that is all with the history lesson, I would be heading to my room, I was kinda busy”. I snapped my fingers. I paused as my face flickered to confusion. “When did I become this sassy?” I thought.
“I just wanted to apologize for what Dominic did, he didn't mean it, you were just dissing on his parent's grave and he got angry”. He defended.
“That elder did the same thing but he didn't react to it” I frowned. “I won't bring up his parents again”. I bowed as I turned to go.
“I heard you love nature” he bolted out. “I brought you here in case you needed some time alone, nobody comes here without my permission but you can be an exception” he revealed.
I slammed the door behind me as I walked to my room, Gath revelation clouded my mind. I needed answers and the only place to know the truth was my pack.
I got to my room as I took my phone, Richard hadn't viewed my messages. “What could have happened?” I muttered licking my lips anxiously.
I stormed out to the aquarium. His mouth fell open as he stared at me.
“I didn't expect you back sooner”. He said.
“I need your help” I revealed. “I need to get to my pack now, can you help me?”
