Kristen's pov.
I slammed the door behind me as I got to my room. Tears pooled out of my eyes as I broke down. Agatha was right, I had to decide before it was too late.
I pulled out my phone and stared at my lock, it was the picture of Rizzie. I couldn't control the pain coming from my heart. The one I loved more than anything had the same blood as the one that I hated more than anything.
My mind went back to a few weeks before the Noah incident. I took Rizzie to an ice cream shop, the place was filled with children with both parents, usually, Noah always filled in as a dad but that time he couldn't come.
I watched as parents played and laughed with their kids. “This could have been us Dominic” I muttered as I swiped my tears, I glanced at Rizzie, he wasn't bothered by the scene, all he wanted was chocolate.
“I want that one” Rizzie called my attention as he pointed at the chocolate kept in the show glass.
“Haagen dazs double Belgian chocolate chips?” The shop owner smiled as he leaned closer. “It is the best ice cream but only a few kids want it”. He laughed as he turned away.
“Have you tasted that flavor?” I asked Rizzie.
He shook his head.
“You sure you don't want another flavor?”
“I love that ice cream” he pointed to it. “Can we get it” he pleaded.
“Anything for you” I smiled as I turned to the ice cream man. “Please we would take the …” I stopped as I tried recalling the name.
“Haagen dazs double Belgian chocolate chips” he smiled.
“Yeah that” I laughed as I brought out my debit card.
“Here you go” he smiled as he handed me the bowl.
“Thank you” I smiled as I handed the bowl to Rizzie and handed the card to the man
Rizzie's face flickered to pleasure as he tasted a scoop of the ice cream. “Hmmm, hmm, hmmm… you are the best so far, I would call you Kristen because each time I lick you I remember my sweet mum” he said to the ice cream.
My jaws dropped open as I turned to him, memories clouded my mind of when I was with Dominic, we went to a cake shop and asked for Sandra's cake, the owner knew at once what he wanted and brought out a platinum cake worth one hundred and thirty thousand dollars.
“What?” My mouth fell open. “That is a platinum cake,” I told him.
“I know” Dominic nodded his head in affirmation.
“You can't just eat one hundred and thirty thousand dollars cake because you feel like eating something” I scoffed.
“After taking a walk with you, I suddenly remembered someone… a friend she was just like you but a little wiser”.
“Hey,” I snapped. “Are you saying I am dumb?” I frowned.
“Yes” he nodded in agreement, and my mouth fell open.
“You can't do a simple block and flip move and I have been teaching you for months”. He complained.
“It is hard” I defended.
“Your head is hard” he mocked.
“Why did you name it after her?” I frowned, obviously jealous.
“I first ate this cake with her, so I named it after her”. He explained.
“Do you name everything after someone you know?”
“No” he shook his hand in disagreement. “Just cake and ice cream, I name it to remember them each time I take it”.
“You are remembering a lady when you are with your girlfriend?” I eyed.
“At least you can still see me and I touch you but… he paused the girl is dead” he revealed.
My mouth dropped open. “I am sorry”.
He shrugged taking a bite from the cake. “She is old news, she died after falling in love with the wrong person”
“She was close to you?” my brows furrowed in curiosity.
“She was my student” he replied taking another bite. “Do you want some?” He turned to me.
“Yes” I smiled as I tried grabbing a bite but he pushed it away.
“When I name a food, only I can eat it” he warned as he turned to the baker. “Get her another Sandra”.
“Do I have a food named after you?” I smiled.
“Of course”. He smiled back. “Remember the chocolate cake you got for me when I thought I was dying?”
“It was just onions” I laughed. “I told you not to impress Sir Patrick by putting it in your eyes”.
“I still think that was the right thing to do, no one believed I know a thing about cooking” he defended.
“You really know how to cook” I laughed, my tone filled with mockery. “But yet you tried peeling an onion with your teeth”.
“How could I know” he frowned. “It was just a little bud, I could smash it with my little finger”. He boasted.
“You couldn't peel an onion, don't try to get out of it”. I chuckled.
“Anyway”. He cleared his throat. “I had to go to the ice cream shop to get more, with each scoop I took, my mind always found its way to you”.
“So what name did you give it to remember me… big head, small tits, terrible kisser, pack's pride or my annoying girlfriend who doesn't want to learn how to fight?”
He kept quiet as he leaned closer to kiss me. “Kristen” he called. “I named it Kristen, because I hope as long as it exists our love would too, if it ceases to exist after we die, I would come back to name another one after you, so our love can exist to infinity”.
“What if there is no world again?”
“It lives on in my memory and my tongue and that is more than enough for me, I want to remember how sweet my girlfriend was and I want to remember every moment with each thought”.
“So you are comparing me to an ice cream?” I smiled as my cheeks turned red.
“No” he nodded in disagreement. “You are an obsession, it is just something that is related to you, thank you for being here with me, thanks for being part of my memories”.
My mind slowly drifted back to the ice cream shop as I stared at Rizzie, he named me after his ice cream just like his father.
“You are Kristen?” The ice cream man asked as he turned to me.
I nodded quietly.
“I don't remember how long it has been but I remembered a man who named this ice cream after his girlfriend name Kristen, I had to ask him who she was, and he told me that words could not describe her, I have never felt a love so pure since my wife died like thirty years ago, what was his name…” he paused as he bit his lips.
“Dominic” I bolted out.
The man nodded in affirmation. “Look like you know him?” He smiled but his face slowly flickered to a mixture of concern and curiosity. “Is he okay?”
“How long has he been here?” I asked.
“Almost four years” he replied.
“Tenth February two thousand and fourteen”. I scoffed. That was the day before our breakup, I heard he came here.
“The last time he came here, he did order the ice cream but that was the first time he didn't empty his bowl, he didn't take a spoon, and he left after paying me a year's worth”. He explained.
“Thank you” I forced a smile. “I didn't know that” I revealed.
“I don't mean to pry but he did love you” The man smiled as he turned back to the other customers.
The memories started fading away, as I sat down soaked in my tears. I knew things would not be okay, even if I returned to my pack or succeeded in killing him, I would still have to live with a fragment of him, I would have to see that happy fragment of him till the day I breathe my last, Agatha was right, I would not be happy with that little fragment of his if I didn't put Dominic back in his place.
I wished I could unlearn him, forget all about him, erase all the memories we had together, I wish I could unlearn all the best things about him but I have tried that over and over again but it only reminds me of us, but this opportunity was a ticket to help me get back at him and destroy this rogue pack and the witches coven even though I knew Agatha was planning something big under this alliance, I was ready to prove everyone wrong, nobody steps on me and walk away, I was going to prove to Dominic and my pack that I am the daughter of my father and I had what it takes to be the Alpha of my pack.
I got up and walked to the mirror, shifting my clothes, I stared at the big scar on my neck.
“What is it going to be Kristen?” I said to myself. “What are you ready to do to be the woman Sir Patrick wanted, to be the leader father wanted, people make mistakes but only the wise don't look back and keep regretting, they correct the mistake, so what are you going to do?”. I paused as placed my hand on the mirror.
“Father” I called. “If I find out that my suspicions were true and that they did kill you, I swear on your grave that I am going to hunt every single rogue on earth, I am going to tear them to pieces, but I would not forgive Dominic and the witches coven for what they did, I would be strong for you, Noah and Rizzie… so what would I put on stake to achieve this…. Everything”.
