Chapter 162
Just as Sophia had stated, Mrs. Cole really didn’t let her down at all.
As soon as the girls showed up with pajamas, she chased them away, telling them that no one was going to listen to them if they didn’t freshen up. When Scarlet, Brianna, and Wren showed up, too, they were told the same thing.
Sophia chuckled as she walked into that house, looking at everyone who was sitted at the living room, but there were no signs of the girls.
“I will take these clothes to Scarlet and Wren, then come back,” she said as she lifted the carried bag that was in her hands, as she had carried clothes for them, knowing how picky her niece was when it came to outfits.
“Scarlet is in Brianna’s room while Wren is in Angela’s,” Mrs. Cole told her, causing Sophia to nod before ascending the stairs.
"Why didn’t you let the girls speak first? Their showing up as soon as they woke up showed that they had something important to tell us,” Mr. Cole asked his wife, who glared at him in return.
“What do they mean by walking around the compound in pajamas? There are a lot of people around. It was okay if they stayed in the house in their pajamas, but moving around? Who knew what they would have next after we listened to them?” Mrs. Cole asked, shutting up her husband.
“Though I am really curious, what made them panic like that?” Mrs. Nelson asked with a frown as she tried so hard to think what the girls wanted, but couldn’t come up with an answer.
“We can wait for them to finish up cause I know that they will freshen up quickly so that they can come to tell us what they want,” Mrs. Davis said, causing the others to hum.
“Old Singh had invited us to his leisure place today so that we can play chess. We are leaving, look after those girls well, and don’t be so tough on them,” Old Mr. Cole said.
“Okay, Dad,” Mrs. Cole replied as she knew that her last words were meant for her. The old men stood up and walked away.
“The old men are so relaxed since they came here. Always playing chess and drinking tea, talking and laughing. I am so sure that if they were asked, they would like to stay here a little longer,” Mr. Nelson said with a helpless smile on his face, but his wife sneered.
“Don’t think I don’t know that you are jealous of dad. You wish that you could also relax, but you have been busy learning things from Fourth Mr. Singhs so that when you go back, you can surprise your superiors,” she retorted.
“Whose fault is it that I am busy? I have to work hard for my family to have a good life, no? Also, if I get a promotion and a higher position, won’t our kids' benefits? You see how ambitious they are getting. If I don’t rise to the top soon and get to the capital, who knows what will happen when they go there for their university?” Mr. Nelson asked, causing Mrs. Nelson to fall silent.
“Why worry? Isn’t Lennox there? He will take care of the girls. Also, I am sure that Sophia will go with Scarlet, so when Lennox is busy, Sophia will always be there with them,” Mrs. Davis said as she understood Sophia too well.
“That’s right. The girls can live together with Sophia as their guidance. Since my brother is always busy and can’t watch them. However, they can surely use his name and connections when they encounter any problem,” Mrs. Cole said, looking at her brother and shooting him a wink.
She understood that if Scarlet were to really go to the Capital for her university, her brother would settle there and won’t be everywhere all the time. However, when she thought of those people back at the old mansion, her eyes flickered with coldness, which didn’t escape her brother, who understood what she was worried about.
“Don’t worry, they will always have bodyguards with them, so if anything happens to them, I will be alerted immediately. Also, I heard that both Santino and Austin want to go back with us, so they might settle where Scarlet is till they are sure nothing can happen to them. The Singhs will also give Sophia and Scarlet bodyguards to guard them. They are afraid of not keeping an eye on them,” Lennox explained, causing some of those present to nod their heads in agreement.
“They will just be fine. Even if they are always naughty, they understand what they should do and what they shouldn’t. I think you can give them your trust a little bit,” Brianna’s mom said, causing the others to turn to her.
“Don’t speak as if Brianna currently doesn’t have the idea of going to Capital University,” her husband stated, stunning the woman who shook her head, then frowned as she fell into deep thoughts, thinking of her daughter.
“They will just be fine. We can’t always be at their side all the time, right?” Mr. Davis said in a calm tone.
“Mom, I have something to tell you,” Brooke said as she rushed to her mother, startling everyone as they had not heard her approaching.
Closely behind her were Samantha and Angela. Angela was busy winking at her uncle, who saw it, then pretended not to see anything. However, from her actions, he was sure taht what she wanted was money.
