Chapter 91: How Can the Protagonist Be Absent
Helena's POV
Early the next morning, I was woken up by the servants.
Looking at the still somewhat dark sky outside, I couldn't help but yawn. "Does it have to be this early? I'm not ready yet."
"The makeup artist is already here. Be good, let's do your makeup first. If you're still sleepy afterward, you can take a nap after we're done."
Maria whispered her instructions. I grumbled somewhat unhappily, "Why does the wedding have to be in the morning? Next time I get married, I'm definitely scheduling it for the evening."
"What nonsense are you talking about!"
Seeing Maria get angry, I didn't dare say anything more. I quickly got up, rubbing my eyes, and went to the next room where the stylist was all ready and began doing my makeup and hair.
When it was almost done, Quincy arrived. The moment she saw me, she exclaimed in delight, "Honey, you look absolutely stunning!"
"Oh, Quincy's here. Thank you for keeping Helena company today."
Quincy smiled at Maria. "Mrs. Lockwood, don't worry. With me here, I'll definitely take good care of Helena."
Then she came over, looked me up and down, and asked, "Where's your wedding dress? Why haven't you changed into it yet?"
I couldn't help but yawn again and said, "That thing is really heavy. I need to wait until we get to the hotel to put it on."
"That makes sense."
Quincy nodded, looked around, and asked, "So what do we need to do now?"
Maria said, "The car is ready. You just need to go to the hotel."
"Okay."
Quincy carefully took my hand as we walked downstairs, whispering in my ear as we went, "You look this gorgeous without even wearing the wedding dress yet. Atlas should see you right now—you'd totally blow his mind!"
"What nonsense are you talking about!"
I laughed and playfully swatted at her. Quincy dodged with a grin. "Alright, alright, I'll stop, okay?"
Downstairs, Maria, Henry, Quincy, and I got in the car and headed to the hotel.
The wedding ceremony was set for 10:30 in the morning. By this time, the Pemberton family had already arrived.
The moment Knox saw me, his eyes lit up as he walked over.
"Helena, you look absolutely beautiful."
"That's not quite right—when has Helena ever not been beautiful?"
Faced with Quincy's challenge, Knox quickly apologized. "Sorry, sorry, I misspoke. Helena has always been beautiful in my eyes."
"That's more like it."
Quincy said, proudly lifting her head to look around. "We haven't even had breakfast yet. Is it ready?"
"Of course, of course!"
Knox said, taking my hand and leading us toward a private room. "It's been ready for a while. We were just waiting for you."
I turned to look at Henry and Maria. "Dad, Mom, let's go."
"Yes, let's all go have breakfast together."
Arabella said, taking Maria's hand as they walked toward the private room.
The room had a lavish spread prepared. After breakfast, I was taken to the makeup room again.
After Knox left, Quincy said mysteriously, "I think I just saw Atlas."
"No way?"
Hearing Quincy's words, I was a bit surprised. What was Atlas doing here so early? I suddenly remembered he had said he would steal me away at the wedding. My heart sank to the bottom.
Was he actually serious?
At this thought, my heart tightened. I grabbed Quincy's hand and said, "If you see him later, tell him not to do anything rash. Tell him I have my own plan and not to ruin things for me."
Hearing this, Quincy immediately became nervous too and quickly nodded. "Don't worry, I got it."
Soon, the makeup artist came over and started doing my styling again. After that was done, I finally put on the wedding dress.
The moment I put on the wedding dress, Quincy's eyes lit up. "Helena, you look absolutely stunning!"
I pressed my lips together. "Alright, I know you're sweet-talking me now, okay?"
As we were joking around, Serenity burst in.
The moment she saw me, her eyes brightened for a second, then immediately dimmed.
"Helena, you look so beautiful in that outfit."
Then her eyes fell on my dress. "Your dress is gorgeous. It must be expensive, right?"
"Of course. Knox specially flew abroad to have a master designer custom-make it for Helena. It's even embedded with ninety-nine diamonds, worth tens of millions of dollars."
Serenity covered her mouth in surprise, finding it hard to believe. "A wedding dress worth tens of millions of dollars?"
She carefully reached out her hand. "Can I touch it?"
I nodded. "Of course you can."
She ran her hand over my wedding dress for a while, then looked up with eyes full of wonder. "Helena, this really opened my eyes."
"You really haven't seen much. This is nothing—you haven't even seen the wedding gift the Pemberton family gave Helena yet."
"Alright, Quincy, stop it. Serenity hasn't been to a wedding like this before, so of course, she's surprised."
Then I looked at Serenity with a smile. "But it's okay. You'll have a day like this too someday. Look how much Uncle John values you—he'll definitely pick a husband from a good family for you."
"Thank you, but I know my place. I naturally don't dare to hope for such things."
Serenity said, the envy in her eyes impossible to hide.
"By the way, did Natasha and Aunt Willow come?"
When I asked about Willow and Natasha, Serenity shook her head. "When I came earlier, Grandma was still nagging at my dad to go pick them up, but I don't know if he went. Should I go ask?"
"No need. I was just worried about Aunt Willow's injuries."
With that, I smiled and sent Serenity away.
On such an important occasion today, how could Natasha not show up? She was today's main character, after all.
She absolutely had to appear. After thinking for a moment, I said to Quincy, "Quick, help me think of a way to make Natasha show up."
"Getting her to come—that's easy."
Quincy said, "I just need to have someone hack into Knox's phone and send her a text message."
I hesitated. "Will that work?"
"Don't worry, it'll definitely work."
Quincy said, immediately drafting a text message for me to see. It was written in Knox's voice, saying he wanted Natasha to personally witness the most important moment of his life and hoped she could attend.
"How's that? If you think it's not emotional enough, I can add a few more lines."
I shook my head. The more you say, the more mistakes you make. Better not.
Quincy took back her phone and sent the message. "Alright, I'll have someone send this message to Natasha's phone right now. Just wait and watch the show."
I nodded. "Okay!"
