Chapter 34 Returning to Rosalind's Home
"Stop talking and pay back what you owe."
Quincy had never liked Natasha, and now she didn't want to hear another word from her.
"Helena, you actually brought an outsider to demand money from me. Are you crazy?" Natasha's face twisted with anger.
"I didn't want to either, but I couldn't reach you, could I?"
I spread my hands. "You're not planning to dodge the debt, are you?"
"What debt am I dodging? Helena, I'm your cousin!" Natasha shouted furiously.
"So what if you're my cousin? Why should you get to take Helena's things and not return them?"
Quincy mocked directly, "Oh, so you're just used to taking advantage of people. Fine, then let's let everyone see what kind of person you really are."
After speaking, Quincy pulled me along. "Helena, don't waste words on her. If she won't pay up, I have ways to deal with it. We'll make her famous tomorrow."
Hearing Quincy's words, Natasha panicked. "Helena, this is a family matter. Do you really want to make it public? Aren't you afraid Grandma will blame you?"
"Of course, I'm afraid, but compared to that, I care more about getting my things back. Think carefully—are you going to return them or not?"
Seeing my insistence, Natasha said resentfully, "Fine, I'll return them!"
"When?"
Seeing me press the issue, she said through gritted teeth, "Two weeks. Give me two weeks."
I shook my head. "Two weeks is too long. Three days—I'm only giving you three days. If I don't see my things by then..."
I raised my phone and waved it. "Don't blame me for using other methods."
With that, I pulled Quincy and turned to leave.
"Remember, three days. Only three days."
Quincy turned back and shouted at Natasha.
"That was so satisfying!"
Quincy pulled me along, laughing as we walked. "Helena, that's the first time I've seen someone's face actually twist with anger. So refreshing!"
"Come on, let's find a place where you can tell me what's going on. How did you suddenly wake up?"
Quincy pulled me into a private room, and we sat down.
Once seated, Quincy asked eagerly, "What happened? Why did you suddenly change?"
Quincy was my childhood friend. In my previous life, she had warned me several times that something was going on between Natasha and Knox.
But I never took it to heart. Later, after I got married, because Knox didn't like Quincy, I gradually grew distant from her.
Living this life again, I was actually grateful to Quincy.
Thinking of this, I said, "Because I discovered the affair between Natasha and Knox."
"Really?"
Quincy wasn't surprised at all, just curious about the gossip.
She urged, "What happened exactly? Tell me quickly."
I showed Quincy the video I'd taken of them at the hotel.
"Oh my god, these two are so shameless."
The video was too explicit. Quincy felt embarrassed to watch but wanted to see it anyway, covering her eyes awkwardly while watching the whole thing.
After watching, she looked at me. "Helena, you must be really hurt. One is your cousin, and one is your fiancé, and they both betrayed you."
"No, actually, I'm relieved. Don't you think it's much better to discover this before the wedding than after?"
Hearing this, Quincy dramatically patted her chest. "Thank goodness. I thought you'd be sad for a while. So what are you planning to do?"
"The wedding obviously can't happen, but I'm planning to show this at the wedding."
Hearing this, Quincy whistled excitedly and laughed. "Who would've thought that sweet, gentle Helena would be so fierce when she makes a move?"
She gave a thumbs-up. "Whatever you do, I'll definitely support you."
I smiled. "Thank you, Quincy."
Quincy waved her hand. "Don't thank me. Why are we being so formal?"
After thinking, she said, "But if we chase Natasha for things like this, won't she get suspicious?"
I shook my head. "No, she won't."
"Okay, Helena, just tell me what you need me to do next, and I'll definitely help you."
I held Quincy's hand. "Okay."
After going out for a walk, I was in great spirits and went straight to bed when I got home.
The next morning, I didn't see that jerk Knox, and I left for the office in a good mood.
I was busy until noon when Knox showed up.
Looking at his somewhat haggard appearance, I knew he must be having a hard time.
The failed meeting with Joseph, plus Natasha constantly pressuring him—of course he looked haggard.
He said in a low voice, "Helena, let's go eat."
During the meal, he hesitated several times. I pretended not to notice, letting him struggle.
After a long while, he said, "Helena, I heard you went to see Natasha last night?"
I nodded. "Yeah, she wouldn't answer my calls, so I thought I'd see her in person. But fortunately, Natasha was cooperative and said she'd return my things within three days."
Hearing this, Knox's face looked as if he'd eaten something disgusting. He nodded stiffly. "That's good."
"Alright, Knox, I'm full. I'm heading back."
I waved and turned to leave without waiting for his response.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Knox slump dejectedly in his chair. Seeing him like that made me feel great.
This small amount of money would have been nothing to the Pemberton family before, but now it was hard to say.
By asking Natasha for the debt, she definitely wouldn't let Knox off easy. Knox was stuck in the middle, getting grief from both sides, but he deserved it. He brought it on himself.
In this life, with me here, Knox and Natasha won't have it easy!
Before leaving work that evening, Henry told me we needed to go back to Rosalind's house for dinner.
Hearing this news made me uneasy. Nothing good ever came from going back to Rosalind's house. What did they want now?
I immediately thought of Natasha, but this time, no matter what, I wouldn't give in. Having made up my mind, I accompanied Henry and Maria back to Rosalind's house.
Rosalind's house was brightly lit. John and his family had already arrived.
When Willow saw me this time, she unusually nodded at me. Pigs must be flying—the more she acted like this, the more nervous I got. Willow definitely had bad intentions!
"Grandma, I picked up this cake for you on the way. Try it."
I opened the pastry box and pushed it toward Rosalind. Her expression was bland, showing little pleasure. "Just put it down."
Seeing her like this, I immediately had a bad feeling.
Sure enough, as soon as I sat down, Willow covered her mouth and laughed. "Look at that, Helena is so filial. Mom, you should try it. It's her thoughtful gesture."
Since Willow said so, Rosalind finally picked up a piece and put it in her mouth.
