Chapter 155: Exhibition Hall
I pressed my lips together and smiled lightly, "Smooth talker. You think I actually believe that?"
"Really, if you don't believe me, I can swear to it."
"Alright, I don't need you swearing anything."
I laughed and cut him off, "I'm going to sleep now. Good night."
Atlas said, "Okay, good night. Remember to dream of me."
I responded to him a bit shyly before hanging up.
The next day at work, Henry suddenly came to my office and said, "Remember that trade show I mentioned? Come with me."
I quickly closed my laptop and stood up, "Okay, Dad."
I called Lyndon to join us and we followed Henry downstairs.
This trade show was organized by the government with a huge investment of resources and manpower. The scale was much larger than before, definitely worth attending.
In the car, Henry said, "There will be many business people from different places at the show. Helena, stay by my side and make some good connections."
"Okay, Dad," I replied.
The venue was set up in Starwave City's exhibition hall that could hold tens of thousands of people. As soon as we arrived, staff members led us to the exhibition area.
We saw quite a few familiar faces from the business world. Henry took me around to greet people.
"Helena, it really is you! I thought I was seeing things just now."
Hearing the voice, I turned around and saw it was Amy.
My feelings about her were complicated. From Atlas's perspective, I should have no reason to be wary of her, but after what happened last time, my impression of her had dropped quite a bit.
Though to be fair, we couldn't be certain she was behind what happened last time.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I came with Dad, Mom, and Atlas. Oh, and Zane's back too. You haven't met him yet, right? Let me call him over to meet you."
As Amy spoke, without waiting for my response, she stood on her tiptoes, waved toward the distance and called out loudly, "Atlas, Dad, Mom, I see Helena!"
Hearing her voice, Atlas quickly walked over. When he saw me, he reached out his hand.
I smiled and placed my hand in his palm.
Atlas held my hand and smiled softly, "I was just looking for you. Didn't expect to run into you so soon."
Then he greeted Henry, "Mr. Lockwood."
Henry nodded slightly. Before he could speak, Evan walked over with Yvonne.
"Mr. Lockwood, what a coincidence running into you here."
Evan greeted him, then pushed forward a young man in his twenties from behind him, "Zane, say hello."
So this was Zane.
This Zane had inherited Evan's good looks - deep-set eyes and refined features. But the slight upward tilt at the corners of his eyes made him look like he was up to no good whenever he looked at people.
"Mr. Lockwood, hello."
After Zane greeted Henry, his gaze fell on me, looking me up and down, finally settling on mine and Atlas's clasped hands.
He smiled insincerely, "I've only been away for a while and Atlas already has a girlfriend. Who's this? Pretty good-looking."
"Shut up! What nonsense are you talking about!"
Evan scolded him, then said, "This is Helena, Mr. Lockwood's daughter, not one of those women you mess around with outside. Apologize now!"
Hearing this, Zane looked up at me in surprise, his face suddenly full of smiles, "I didn't know Ms. Lockwood was Mr. Lockwood's daughter. My mistake. Please don't take offense, Ms. Lockwood."
Looking at his cheeky grin, I really didn't like him. I nodded slightly, "No need to be polite. We don't know each other anyway."
After speaking, I looked at Atlas, "Why don't you show me around?"
"Sure."
Atlas held my hand and said, "Mr. Lockwood, I'll take Helena to look around."
"Okay, go ahead."
Seeing Henry agree, I said goodbye to Evan. Just as Atlas and I were about to leave, Amy grabbed the corner of my clothes, "Helena, I want to come with you too."
"Me too, count me in."
Zane also raised his hand to show he wanted to join.
Our date for two was about to become a group of four. I frowned, practically writing my refusal on my face.
Then Evan spoke up, "Atlas, take Zane and Amy along to look around too."
With so many people around, Atlas couldn't refuse directly. He said coldly, "Keep up."
He pulled my hand and walked forward without looking back. Behind us, Zane and Amy followed closely.
The exhibition area was huge. Just the local section alone was tens of thousands of square feet. Walking around wasn't just for fun - I also compared products similar to what our company produced.
After comparing, I was relieved to find that our company's precision instruments were still the best on the market.
But product updates happen so fast. If we just stand still, we could easily be overtaken.
The company's production equipment needs constant updating. Thinking of this, I made a mental note to discuss this properly with Henry when we got back.
After walking around, Atlas said, "Should we check out other exhibition areas?"
"Sure."
Just as I was about to turn around, I suddenly spotted a somewhat familiar figure in the distance. It looked like Joseph.
What was he doing here?
I found it strange but calmly said to Atlas, "I see someone I know. I'm going to say hello."
After speaking, I walked toward Joseph.
"What a surprise to run into you here."
Hearing my voice, Joseph turned around. Seeing it was me, he was very happy, "Ms. Lockwood, what are you doing here?"
I stepped forward and hugged him, "I came with my dad to see the exhibition. Didn't expect to see you here. What brings you here?"
Joseph said, "My company is donating one million digital instruments to international medical organizations, but unfortunately we haven't found the right manufacturer yet. I came today thinking I'd look around first, then go visit your father at your company."
Hearing this, I was overjoyed.
This was a rare big order.
If we could close this deal, not only could we clear out the inventory in the warehouse, but we could also keep the production line running for several more months.
Thinking of this, I was thrilled and quickly took out my phone to make a call.
"Lyndon, I'm in Zone 1A. Come over quickly. I need you for a business connection."
After hanging up, I looked at Joseph, "Our company's most knowledgeable person about this business is also nearby in the exhibition area. I just called him and he'll be here soon. Please wait a moment. When he arrives, he can give you a detailed explanation."
"OK, OK." Joseph nodded repeatedly.
