Chapter 118 Visiting
"Me having an affair with another man?"
I laughed coldly. If I had been worried about my intimate behavior with Atlas just moments ago, now it only stirred up resentment in my heart.
I reached out and grabbed Atlas's hand directly.
"Look carefully, Knox. Atlas and I are together now. You and I are in the past. I hope that apart from business dealings between our companies, you won't bother me anymore."
"Helena, you!"
Knox's bloodshot eyes stared fixedly at our clasped hands.
He said through gritted teeth, "Helena, why are you doing this? What's so good about Atlas? Why would you choose him!"
"He's cleaner than you!"
I said coldly, "He didn't cheat on me with my cousin while dating me."
"I told you, Natasha and I was an accident. She seduced me. I just couldn't control myself. Helena, I know I was wrong. I won't have anything to do with her anymore. Please forgive me this once."
Knox was sobbing dramatically. I didn't expect him to be such a good actor.
If the people around didn't know the whole story, they might actually have been fooled by him.
"Enough, Knox. Who are you putting on this show for? Everyone knows what's going on between you and those women. You don't think that besides Natasha from the exposed video, we don't know about the other women you've been involved with, do you?"
As soon as Atlas said this, Knox's face turned terribly dark.
"Atlas, it's all because of you that Helena and I have come to this. You just wait, I won't let either of you off!"
"Fine, I'm waiting. Bring it on."
Atlas laughed coldly, not taking his threat to heart at all.
Knox glared at us unwillingly before finally turning to leave.
After he left, York waved his hand and said, "Alright, alright, everyone back to your work stations."
The crowd dispersed. Atlas looked at me and said, "Helena, are you okay?"
I shook my head. I had expected this scene all along and wasn't afraid at all, but I felt bad for dragging Atlas into it.
I smiled bitterly and said, "I shouldn't have accepted your confession yesterday."
Hearing this, Atlas gripped my hand even tighter. His brows furrowed together, and he said with a hint of nervousness, "Helena, what do you mean by that? Are you having second thoughts?"
I shook my head. "I just feel bad for dragging you into this."
Atlas laughed softly. "Helena, I'm so happy right now."
Was he crazy? Happy about what?
Before I could ask, Atlas continued, "I'm happy because you have me in your heart."
"And the way you grabbed my hand just now was so bold. I loved it!"
He brought my hand to his lips and kissed it gently, looking at me with deep affection. "I know what you're worried about, but the Pemberton family doesn't scare me. Don't worry, I'll always be by your side."
"No matter what problems we face, remember, I'm always with you."
Hearing Atlas's words, I finally felt relieved.
Since I'd have to face Knox sooner or later anyway, I couldn't back down just because of his threats.
"Okay."
I squeezed Atlas's hand back and looked up at him. "Whatever happens, we'll face it together."
Then I said a bit embarrassed, "How come you're here? Didn't we say we'd meet tonight?"
"I finished my work and had nothing to do, so I thought I'd come keep you company. Good thing I came in time."
After saying this, Atlas shook his head. "Forget it, let's not talk about him anymore. You go ahead with your work, don't mind me. I'll wait for you to get off."
"Okay."
Back in the office, Atlas sat quietly reading while waiting for me to finish work.
The afternoon flew by in a blur of activity, and soon it was time to leave. Atlas closed his book and stood up. "Let's go."
We stopped by a mall where I bought some gifts, then followed Atlas to The Lancaster Manor.
The Lancaster Manor was designed very grandly.
At the entrance, the butler was leading a group of servants who had been waiting. When they saw Atlas, the butler looked up slightly and said, "Mr. Lancaster, you're back?"
Atlas responded lightly and pulled my hand. "This is Helena, my girlfriend."
"Ms. Lockwood, hello."
After the butler spoke, all the servants behind him greeted me in unison.
Atlas was very satisfied with their response. He nodded slightly and said, "Bring the gifts from the car into the house."
"Yes."
The butler waved his hand, and the servants quickly went to help with the things.
Atlas held my hand and walked inside while asking the butler, "Is everyone home?"
"They're all waiting."
The butler replied carefully.
Atlas acknowledged this and soon led me to the first-floor living room.
In the living room, I finally met Atlas's father and his stepmother.
Evan wore gold-rimmed glasses and looked refined and scholarly.
Yvonne wore a purple suit, very elegant. Her round face was well-maintained, showing no signs of age.
There was also a young, beautiful girl, fashionable and pretty. This must be Atlas's sister, Amy.
When they saw us, Evan and Yvonne's expressions were quite different.
But Amy got up excitedly and ran over. "Atlas, you really brought a girlfriend home! I thought I heard wrong."
Amy was very cute. She looked up at me with a smile. "Helena, can I call you that? You're so beautiful. How did you fall for Atlas?"
"Looking for a beating, aren't you!"
Atlas put on a stern face, pretending to hit Amy.
Amy laughed and quickly hid behind me, shaking my arm. "Helena, look, Atlas wants to hit me. You have to protect me."
Atlas smiled. "Well, well, you know how to find backup now."
I could tell that Atlas genuinely liked Amy.
"Amy, don't be rude."
Evan scolded coldly. Amy stuck out her tongue and said quietly, "Helena, please sit."
Atlas ignored Evan and said to the butler, "Please ask Grandpa to come down."
"Yes."
After the butler left, Atlas pulled me to sit on the sofa. "I came back today to let you all know that Helena is my girlfriend and will be the lady of the Lancaster family in the future."
Seeing his complete lack of respect for them, Evan blurted out a curse.
"You bastard."
But before he could finish, seeing me there, he forcibly stopped himself.
He looked a bit uncomfortable. "Helena, on your first visit you have to see this embarrassing scene."
"What's there to be afraid of? Our Lancaster family has embarrassing scenes every day. Not just Helena, even outsiders have seen enough of them."
Atlas's sarcastic tone finally enraged Evan, who flew into a rage but was held back by Yvonne, who managed to calm him down.
She looked up at me with a smile. "Today is Helena's first time visiting our home. Don't let outsiders see us as a joke."
Yvonne's words made people uncomfortable for no reason.
Atlas glanced at her coldly. "What do you mean by outsider? Helena is my girlfriend. How is she an outsider?"
"You really do treasure her. Getting worked up over one sentence."
Yvonne smiled without warmth in her eyes. "You brought your girlfriend home today. I'm happy for you. If your mother could see this, she'd be very happy too."
