Chapter 11 Spit Out What Belongs to Me
Seeing him furious and flustered, I deliberately pouted as if I was wronged, but inside I felt nothing but coldness.
Bet you didn't see this coming, Knox. Today I would show you what it meant to shoot yourself in the foot!
Seeing me on the verge of tears, Knox had no choice but to soften his attitude and try to comfort me.
"Helena, I didn't mean to yell at you, but you know what you said just now caused me quite a bit of trouble."
Hearing Knox's words, I sneered inwardly. This little trouble was nothing - there would be much more to come.
When he gave that necklace to Natasha, why didn't he think about the consequences?
"But I was telling the truth, Knox. Why is the necklace I bought hanging around Natasha's neck?"
"If you had told me you bought the necklace for Natasha, I wouldn't have been so upset."
Seeing me keep harping on about the necklace, Knox's face grew even more uncomfortable.
He said patiently, "I'm sorry Helena. Natasha is your cousin, and I know you two are close, so I just lent it to her temporarily. It's my fault for not considering your feelings."
What was this? Trying to use family ties to manipulate me?
A cold smile appeared on my lips.
Natasha had taken quite a few nice things from me over the years. All those bits and pieces added up to a lot of money.
Plus what Knox helped take - everything together was worth at least several hundred million dollars.
In my past life, I was stupid, but in this life, I would make both of them give back everything they swallowed!
With this thought, I lowered my eyes and said to Natasha, "Natasha, is what Knox said true? Did he lend you the necklace?"
As soon as I finished speaking, Natasha's expression changed rapidly, becoming extremely darkened.
She looked around and saw everyone staring at her.
She knew that if she didn't explain the necklace situation clearly today, she would end up completely disgraced.
Soon, she offered a smile. "Helena, what are you doing? Hasn't Knox always let me try on these little trinkets before? You've always known about this, haven't you?"
"What's going on today? Saying such things in public - aren't you just making us a laughingstock?"
She thought she could brush it off with a casual remark, but her plan failed.
"I had no idea Natasha had become so wealthy that something worth tens of millions of dollars is just a little trinket."
"If I'd known Natasha had so much money, I should have let her bid on it herself. You know, this necklace cost me half a year's allowance."
After I spoke, the murmuring around us started again.
"Isn't that John's daughter? I heard their family business has been going downhill. How can she talk so big?"
"She's just pretending!"
The surrounding chatter rose and fell, and Natasha's face grew darker with each comment.
She turned and stared at me hard, lowering her voice to demand, "Helena, what exactly do you want?"
Go ahead, keep pretending. Why did you stop?
I sneered inwardly. What did I want? Naturally, I wanted her to give back everything she'd taken!
"Natasha, I'm sorry. I don't mean to keep going on about the necklace, but after Dad found out about this, he froze all my cards."
Seeing me keep pestering about the necklace, Knox frowned and said to Natasha, "Take off the necklace and give it back to Helena!"
As soon as he said this, not only Natasha but even I was quite surprised.
What was going on? Had pigs learned to fly? I hadn't even asked for it back yet, and he was already planning to return it?
Natasha stared in disbelief and asked, "Knox, what do you mean?"
Seeing her unmoved, Knox irritably loosened his tie and said impatiently, "The necklace was Helena's to begin with. You said you wanted to borrow it, so I gave it to you. Now it's time to return it to its rightful owner."
After speaking, he glanced warily around.
I immediately understood - Knox was trying to stop the gossip.
But of course, with me, his actual girlfriend, right here, if he didn't defend me a little, who knew what people would say.
"Knox, you!"
Natasha was so angry she gritted her teeth. Looking around, she saw quite a few people waiting to see her humiliated.
Then she looked at Knox beside her, impatiently holding out his hand waiting for her to remove the necklace.
The usually proud Natasha's eyes reddened with disappointment.
Knox's patience snapped when she refused to take off the necklace.
He urged in a low voice, "Hurry up!"
"Knox, you've gone too far!"
As Natasha spoke, she endured the enormous humiliation and removed the necklace from her neck, throwing it directly into Knox's hand.
After doing this, she stood up, glared at me fiercely, and left in a huff.
Knox didn't care about her leaving at all. He turned and placed the necklace in my hand. "Helena, you keep it."
The necklace carried Natasha's body warmth, smooth and warm.
A chill rose in my heart. This was just the beginning. Over the years, Natasha had taken many good things from me, and I would make her spit them all back out!
Compared to the harm Natasha caused me and my family in my past life, what I did today was nothing.
In this life, I would get back everything these two owed me!
With this thought, I hid the coldness in my eyes and showed some unease instead. "Knox, is Natasha mad at me? Maybe you should go talk to her."
With me, his actual girlfriend, here, Knox wouldn't leave no matter how stupid he was.
Sure enough, he sat beside me without moving. "It's fine. The necklace is yours. If Natasha's unhappy, that's her problem."
Knox's face was dark, and his cold, heartless words revealed his inner irritation through his gloomy gaze.
He'd always cared about his reputation, but today the necklace incident had caused such a scandal. He definitely wouldn't back down easily this time.
Just then, the auctioneer on stage struck his hammer, and that top horse now belonged to Atlas.
His face twisted with embarrassment and rage. He clenched his fists but had no solution.
In terms of wealth, he couldn't compete with Atlas. That alone was enough to lose.
Just as he was about to leave with me, Atlas came strolling over.
Watching Atlas approach, I grew nervous.
I'd never been able to figure Atlas out, and with those strange things he'd said when he saw me, I was really afraid he'd do something inappropriate in front of Knox.
"Mr. Pemberton, leaving already?"
Atlas's words were directed at Knox, but his eyes were fixed directly on me.
Knox frowned slightly and moved to shield me behind him, asking Atlas with displeasure, "What do you want?"
Seeing his nervous reaction, Atlas chuckled. "What are you afraid of, Mr. Pemberton? Don't worry, I'm not here for you. I'm here for Ms. Lockwood."
