Chapter 56 Temper Rising!
The following day the couple had breakfast together in the room. Afterward, they get ready to go to the surgeon’s office for their appointment.
Alpha Gideon had finished dressing up first and was waiting patiently for his wife to get ready.
Luna Rosie was rummaging through her fancy clothes in the closet, checking out her expensive bags and shoes, wondering what to wear for today’s trip to see the plastic surgeon.
Already attired in casual outfit of black jeans and a polo shirt, Alpha Gideon looks at his wife. “What’s wrong? Why are you not dressed yet?” he asked, noticing the scowl on her face.
“I can’t decide what to wear. I want to wear my favorite necklace and my summer dress,” she responded without looking at him.
Alpha Gideon sighed. “I have to remind you that you can’t wear fancy clothes to the doctor’s office because you are Mira the maid. If you wear those flashy outfits, the servants will raise a brow. They will start observing you and then gossip behind your back…”
“I will cut off their tongues if they start gossiping about me!” Luna Rosie snapped haughtily.
Alpha Gideon takes a deep breath, shaking his head. Sigh. His wife is taking too long to choose her attire. “Choose something simple to match your face, and try not to attract attention. We are just going to the surgeon’s office. We are not going to a party. Dress simply,” he said, walking to the door.
“Where are you going?” she asked in irritation.
"Head downstairs. I will wait for you in the living room. Don’t take too long,” he said and exited the room.
Luna Rosie bit her lip in annoyance. She felt anxiety creeping up in her heart.
Dammit! Why can’t she pick a damn dress to wear?
Because she wanted to wear her usual clothes to look presentable but her damn ugly face wouldn't match her elegant outfit.
This is so annoying!
As anger surged through her heart, she wanted to grab her clothes and throw them on the floor.
Dammit! She is getting too riled up and can’t decide what to wear. Such an easy task to do, yet it took her ages!
‘Wear something simple to match your face,’ her husband’s voice echoing louder in her head. Was he insulting her?
He was definitely ashamed of bringing his ugly wife to the doctor. He was ashamed to be seen by her side!
This is unfair!
She wanted to scream as frustration gripped her heart, making her want to explode.
Then out of the blue she remembered that Lena always picked the right clothes for her every time she got confused about what to wear. She immediately opened the connecting door and called her personal maid. “Lena, come here!” She barked her orders.
“Lenaaaaa!”
Lena was not responding to her call.
The room was empty.
“Lena, where are you? Dammit, answer me!” Luna Rosie called again anxiously, her face red with anger. Where the hell is everyone?
Mira was in the bathroom during that time and Lena was downstairs doing an errand.
Mira emerged from the bathroom door after hearing Luna Rosie’s loud call. She meets face to face with Luna Rosie, her nostrils flaring in anger.
“What’s the problem?” Mira asked calmly.
“Where is Lena?” Luna Rosie yelled.
Mira took a few steps back, out of harm's way. “Lena went downstairs, getting milk and vitamins for my baby.”
Luna Rosie was enraged after hearing Mira take ownership of her unborn child. Rage surges through her heart, making her blood boil to a feverish pitch. She wanted to destroy something, anything to alleviate the rage inside her. She grabbed Mira’s hair. It felt so good. “Correction! That’s my baby, not yours!”
Mira winced in pain. “Let go of my hair! It hurts!” she said in agony, trying to remove the mad woman’s fingers from her hair.
“Come with me!” Luna Rosie drags Mira to her room. “I don't have much time left. Pick up some clothes for me from my closet, the simple ones. Hurry up!” she ordered vehemently.
“OK, no problem. I will help you, just let go of my hair, please?” Mira begged in tears.
“No. I will not let go of your hair. I love hurting you. I love listening to your voice begging me to stop hurting you! Because the pain I feel inside will not stop unless I get my body back! I can’t suffer alone while you enjoy my life. You have to suffer with me as well!” Luna Rosie sneered, tightening her grasp on Mira’s hair.
She was about to shove Mira’s face into the closet but the door suddenly opened.
Alpha Gideon entered the room and saw everything. His eyes widened in shock. His wife grabbed Mira’s hair fiercely looking like a lunatic. The two women were facing the closet. “What’s going on?” he asked, rushing to their location.
Luna Rosie didn’t release her hold on Mira, showing her animosity, not afraid of her husband’s presence in the room. “Stay away from this!” she warned him sternly.
“My love, let her go. You are hurting her!” Alpha Gideon demanded, trying to pry her fingers from Mira’s hair.
“Leave me alone! This is my body, I have every right to do anything I want with it!” Luna Rosie hissed into his face, becoming increasingly livid with anger and jealousy, annoyed that her husband was trying to save her rival instead of siding with her.
She was furious that her husband had interfered on Mira’s behalf.
“What is it that you want from Mira?” Alpha Gideon asked, wanting to know why his wife was losing control of her temper.
“I want Lena to choose the simple dress I need to wear to the plastic surgeon’s office, but Lena is not in the room, so I dragged Mira here to do my bidding, after all she is a maid. But you interrupted us!” Luna Rosie explained angrily.
Alpha Gideon was astonished by what he heard. “What? Such a simple thing to do—why can’t you do it yourself?” he asked, shaking his head in bewilderment.
“None of your business. Just leave the room and go back to the living room.” Luna Rosie ordered her husband, hating his intervention, refusing to let go of Mira’s hair.
“Ouch, that hurts!” Mira winced in pain. "Please let go of my hair,” she pleaded in a petrified tone.
Luna Rosie’s eyes darkened in anger. “You are such a useless lazy ass pig!” She yelled, tugging at Mira’s hair harder, with the intention of hurting her further.
Mira looked at Alpha Gideon. “Alpha, please help me! It hurts so badly!" she begged desperately. Tears filled her eyes.
Luna Rosie’s eyes flashed dangerously after hearing Mira begging her husband for help. She couldn't contain her anger. She slapped Mira’s face. “Stop seducing my husband! How dare you?"
Her violent action took Alpha Gideon by surprise, bringing tears to Mira’s eyes.
She was about to slap Mira’s face again but Alpha Gideon managed to catch her hand. He shut his eyes for a moment, trying to control his rising temper. “Stop this now!” he yelled into her face, silencing her with his eyes darkening dangerously, flashing a warning.
Luna Rosie slowly let go of Mira’s hair, fearing she had gone too far this time.
When Lena arrived in the room and saw what had happened, she rushed to Mira’s side and brought the trembling Mira to the room, shutting the connecting door behind her.
“What happened in there? Why did you enter Luna Rosie’s room?” Lena asked curiously, inspecting Mira’s flustered face.
Mira takes a deep breath. “She came looking for you. But she ended up grabbing my hair and dragging me into her room so I could help her find a simple dress to wear to the surgeon’s office. I don’t know why she acted violently towards me. As far as I know, I didn't offend her. She just entered my room and grabbed my hair. It’s not my fault!” she explained, her body trembling, tears shimmering in her eyes.
Lena went to the table, poured water into the glass and brought it to Mira. “Drink this water so you calm down.”
“Thanks.” Mira drank the water.
“Get on the bed and lay down because you look so pale,” Lena said softly.
Mira lay down on the bed, caressing the area of her face where Luna Rosie’s face had landed. “She slapped me,” she mumbled and began to cry.
Lena was furious. “How dare she? How could she hurt you? She knows you are pregnant and carrying her baby. What if she accidentally hurts your belly?”
“It’s okay. I’m fine. The pain was gone,” Mira said, facing the wall miserably. “I’m going to sleep. After I wake up, I’m going to be fine. Don’t worry about me.”
“Are you sure? Your face is not hurting anymore?” Lena asked worriedly. “I can get some ice packs from the kitchen,” she offered.
“I’m fine,” Mira replied and shut her eyes, needing a rest badly.
When Mira was no longer talking to her, Lena took a deep breath and sat in the chair, thinking about what to do next.
The connecting door opened and Alpha Gideon entered the room. “Where is Mira?” he asked.
“She’s resting, Alpha. She told me she was fine. She just wants to rest,” Lena replied gloomily, bowing her head.
Alpha Gideon wanted to personally ask Mira if she was okay but he changed his mind at the last minute. His wife might go completely nuts in jealousy if she saw him talking to her. “Take care of her.”
“Copy Alpha,” Lena replied.
Alpha Gideon returned to the room and looked at his wife, crying helplessly on the bed. “We need to talk!”
Luna Rosie raised her tear-stricken face. “What do we have to talk about?” she asked, looking guilty and depressed.
Alpha Gideon ran his hands through his hair in frustration. He felt disappointed by his wife’s violent attack on Mira. “What you did to Mira is wrong!” He said bluntly. His eyes turned into slits. Not bothering to hide his annoyance anymore.
