Chapter 51 Impossible!
The following day, the two women woke up to a bright new day.
Luna Rosie smiled, feeling happy that she didn’t see Mira’s face anymore. In the past waking up beside her on the bed was deeply upsetting.
Finally, she was able to restore some normalcy to her life! She got her room back and her husband as well, and hopefully one day, she will get her body and her unborn child back too.
One at a time.
The only reason why she was treating Mira nicely was because she was carrying her unborn child in her tummy. If not, she already blasted that servant out of the mansion a long time ago.
She got up from bed to start her day.
Meanwhile…
In Mira’s room, she woke up alone in her bed, feeling energized. She glanced at the window and the sunrays were already peeking out at the window wanting to say hello to her.
She suddenly noticed her pet snake was no longer by her side. OMG! Where is Brownie?
She quickly rose from the bed, fearing the snake had left the room and explored the mansion. People might see it, catch it and kill it!
Calm down! Maybe it’s still in the room and hasn't gotten far. Her heart was beating erratically in her rib cage due to anxiety.
She checked underneath the bed and saw the snake there. Huge relief washed over her. “Thank you God! My pet is safe!” She gushed happily.
“Brownie, come to me. Come to Mama!" she said, giggling.
The snake obeyed and slithered into her palm. She met the snake's eyes and said, “Don’t leave the room, okay? It’s dangerous out there. When people see you they will catch you and kill you. Do you understand?"
The snake nodded its head as if it understood what she meant.
Mira smiled. “Very good, Brownie.”
She put the snake on the bed, patted its head affectionately and proceeded to the bathroom to answer the call of nature.
She emerged from the bathroom door a few moments later.
The connecting door suddenly opened and Luna Rosie entered the room. “How’s your sleep?” she asked.
“Fantastic. I had a good sleep last night,” Mira replied cheerfully.
“How’s my baby in your tummy?” Luna Rosie asked casually.
“Great as well. Me and the baby are fine,” Mira responded with a smile.
“Good,” Luna Rosie said, satisfied with Mira’s answer. “It’s breakfast time. Do you want to eat your meal in the dining room with the royal family?” she asked.
Mira quickly shakes her head, feeling guilty. She was scared of receiving awkward glances from royal family members, knowing she was not the real Luna Rosie. “No. Starting today I will no longer join them in the dining room. I have no right to eat meals with them after they know the truth about the soul swap. You should join them. As for me, I would rather eat here in my room and enjoy my peace,” she said gloomily.
Luna Rosie enjoyed Mira’s discomfort as shame and guilt plastered on her face. “Good. It’s great that you know your place and you know where you stand. What you have now is all borrowed from me. One day, I will take them all back. Just stay here and I will bring you a meal in a moment,” she said and left the room.
Mira took a deep breath. Now that the royal family knew about the soul swap, she no longer wanted to cross paths with any of them. To them she was just a maid, and a fake Luna. She would rather stay in her room all day and all night away from the royal family’s paths. The only place she would want to visit is the garden.
Anyway, she already got everything she needed in this room. The smart TV can offer her endless entertainment and she gets an amazing view of the garden below the window. As long as she can eat three meals a day she will be fine, she will survive.
The door opened and a beaming Lena stepped inside, carrying a tray. “Good morning Luna Rosie. I’m back!”
Mira squealed in delight. “OMG! Lena, you have returned!”
After Lena had put the tray on the table, Mira hugged her briefly. “How’s your family in the village?” she asked.
Lena smiles brightly. “They are fine. My sick parents are recovering well after I brought them to the hospital for a checkup."
“Glad to hear that.” Mira smiled and whispered to Lena, “Regarding the bags and jewelry I give you, you must not tell anyone about it. It will be our secret for life. OK?”
“Yes, Luna. I will not tell anyone about it. Thank you again for your monetary help. The money greatly improved the lives of my family in the village.”
Mira smiled. “I’m glad it serves its purpose.”
Lena pulled out the chair. “Please sit down and eat your meal before it gets cold.”
“Thank you, Lena. You have no idea how much I miss you,” Mira said, picking up the utensils and putting food on her plate.
“I miss you too, Luna. While I was in our village I was worried about your condition because you lost your memories. You must have a hard time remembering everything while I’m away,” Lena said worriedly.
“I’m fine. I’m glad you are back. Everything will be alright from now on,” Mira said confidently. While munching on her food, she was thinking about how she would explain to Lena about the connecting door.
Lena cleared her throat. “Luna, I met Mira in the kitchen and she told me that you switched rooms. And you are currently staying here. I’m confused why you left your beautiful room.”
Mira sighed. “I will explain everything to you later after I’m done eating.”
“I’m sorry for interrupting your meal, Luna. Please enjoy your breakfast,” Lena said and busy herself with tidying up the bed.
Mira saw her pet snake slither below the bed but Lena didn’t see it.
While she was eating her meal, Mira was debating whether she would tell Lena the truth or continue lying about who she really is. Should she ask Luna Rosie’s opinion first since Lena was her personal maid?
After eating, Mira arranged the plate back on the tray and looked at Lena. “I’m done eating.”
Lena walked to the table ready to bring the dirty dishes to the kitchen.
Mira stood up and sat on the bed. “Lena, we need to talk. There is something important I need to tell you about. Come here, sit beside me on the bed,” she said, patting the space beside her.
“What is it, Luna?” Lena asked, lowering herself to the bed anxiously.
The connecting door suddenly opened and Luna Rosie entered the room. She saw Lena and Mira women sitting on the bed beside each other. “Good. Now let’s talk, girls,” she said, removing the veil from her face.
Lena looked at Mira in horror, shocked by her brazen attitude. “Mira, you should not remove your veil. Put it back!” She quickly corrected her fellow maids.
Luna Rosie sighed, grabbing the chair and settling down on it, facing the two women.
Mira asked Luna Rosie, “Are we going to tell Lena the truth now?”
Luna Rosie nodded her head. “Yup, we should. It will simplify things for us.”
Lena looked at the women's faces, frowning heavily, wondering why they were talking in riddles. She looked at Mira and said, “Luna, what's going on?” she asked, confused.
“Let me tell her my story first,” Mira said.
“OK, go ahead," Luna Rosie replied.
Mira locked eyes with Lena. “My name is Mira. When I died after getting ill with the deadly flu virus, I was reborn and woke up in Luna Rosie’s body. In short, my soul transferred to Luna Rosie’s pregnant body. That is why I told you that I lost my memories because I really don’t know much about Luna Rosie’s life,” she explained, her face serious. She looked at Luna Rosie and said, "It's your turn.”
Luna Rosie looked at Lena and said, “Mira was telling you the truth. I am Luna Rosie. My soul transferred to Mira’s body. We both died on the same night and our souls swapped. The royal family already knew the soul swap between Mira and I. My husband also knows I am his real wife." She ended her narration and let the words sink slowly into the maid’s head.
Stunned, Lena’s jaw dropped to the floor. She had a hard time believing their claims. “B-but soul swapping is impossible!” she argued.
Luna Rosie sighed. “You better believe it now because Mira and I have swapped souls. Do you think we are just joking around? Wasting our precious time telling you a stupid joke? No, I don’t have time for that. The reason why we tell you the truth is because you will become Mira’s personal maid starting today. And you are not allowed to tell anyone about the soul swap. No one should know about this secret, only the royal family. Do you understand, Lena?”
Lena was still in a state of shock, trying to understand the strange phenomenon that had happened to the two women. How come the maid is now Luna, and Luna Rosie has become the maid? What a shocking turn of events!
Mira clasped Lena’s hands and said, “Lena, the soul swap is real. I am Mira, and she is the real Luna Rosie. Our souls have swapped!”
Lena slowly nodded her head. “OK, I got it but I’m still in shock…”
Luna Rosie stood up and went to the connecting door. “Lena, this door connects to my room. I will use this door to enter my room. As usual my husband will use the front door in my room. I won’t be able to use the front door because the staff might see me entering my husband's room all the time and that would create gossip among the servants because in their eyes I am Mira the maid. I want to remind you that I am the only one who can use this door. You and Mira are not allowed to open this door unless I give you permission. Do you understand?” she said sternly.
Lena nodded her head quickly. “Yes, I understand now, Luna,” she finally answered.
“Good,” Luna Rosie smiled. “Don’t tell anyone about the soul swap if you don’t want me to get mad at you. I will punish you if you disobey my orders."
Lena nodded her head. "Copy that, Luna.”
“If no one is around, you can call me Luna, but if there are other people, even in the presence of the royal family, you need to call me Mira. Let’s not confuse the staff and servants in this mansion about who is who. As for Mira, you always call her Luna. Do you understand?”
"Copy Luna,” Lena replied, feeling perplexed by the whole thing.
“Good.” Luna Rosie put the veil back on her face.
Satisfied that her personal maid understood everything, Luna Rosie opened the connecting door and disappeared into her room.
Lena looked at Mira, looking confused as ever. “A-am I dreaming? Are you really Mira the maid?”
Mira sighed. “Yes, this is me, Lena. If you don't want Luna Rosie to get mad at you, just obey her orders and you will be fine,” she assured her.
“OK,” Lena murmured, still reeling from the shock of the soul swap.
“Go now, bring the dirty dishes to the kitchen. I can’t bring the dishes downstairs because the servants will get confused why I’m doing household chores. I will continue to act as Luna Rosie, the pampered wife of Alpha Gideon. We will continue to talk about the soul swap after you come back here,” Mira said gently.
“OK, Luna.” Lena stood up, picked up the tray and left the room in bewilderment.
