Chapter 309 I Want This Project, Not Giving It to You
Chapter 309 I Want This Project, Not Giving It to You
"I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed—I'm going to steal your people!"
Emily's lips curved up into a confident and bright smile.
"What?"
Daniel didn't doubt her at all, just wondered why she said that.
He trusted her character—she wouldn't compete with him for projects or people without good reason.
Of course, if Emily really wanted it, even without her asking, he would hand it over without hesitation.
Emily used to always think of others first, but all she got in return was doubt and suspicion.
But Daniel's first reaction wasn't anger or doubt—it was confusion based on trust.
This made Emily's heart feel like it had been struck again—it hurt, but also felt tingly and numb, a very strange feeling.
She couldn't bear to let down his trust.
"I talked with Wayne. Among the projects Wayne has, there are some parts I find very valuable and really need, so I've decided to work with him."
Emily answered honestly.
Her eyes were fixed on Daniel's face, trying to see any change in his expression.
Unexpectedly, Daniel showed no sign of dissatisfaction from start to finish.
He even looked at her encouragingly, "Good, then go for it!"
After all, convincing Wayne to actually cooperate wasn't something he could directly decide.
He could help, but he understood Emily—perhaps she preferred to use her own abilities to persuade Wayne to cooperate.
Emily's heart warmed again and again, after Daniel finished speaking.
She suddenly laughed.
Her laughter was full of joy.
Seeing her laugh so happily, Daniel's lips also curved slightly, happy for her happiness.
Even though he didn't know what she was really happy about.
But Emily spoke up at this moment, "Why don't you care at all? Since you think Wayne's project is good, the company must have done a lot of research and investigation. Why are you willing to just hand it over to me so easily? And without even knowing the reason?"
Daniel looked at Emily with a smile, "As long as it's your choice, I support it."
It was just one sentence, merely what he thought in his heart.
But it was especially moving, making Emily's heart race uncontrollably.
He was so thoughtful—she couldn't really take such a good thing without any explanation.
"His project is good, but I know what you guys want. I have a better project to recommend to you, one that's progressing even faster than theirs. The part of their project I said I value happens to fill in the part that was troubling me."
Emily explained.
Daniel believed Emily's words almost without any doubt.
From what he knew about AI, Wayne's was the best.
Aiden also had AI research going on, but Daniel had heard through some channels that the newcomer, Ronnie, had just graduated from college and had even been disciplined by the school for misconduct. He was pushing out other people on the project.
Creating some kind of dictatorship.
Daniel already didn't think much of that project.
A good project isn't just one person's achievement—it's everyone working together that produces better results.
Besides, such an arrogant person, though outstanding in school, wasn't amazingly talented enough to be noticed.
Daniel had immediately passed on that one.
Now that Emily said there was a better project, he didn't doubt it at all.
Was this what favoritism looked like?
"Good, a project you recommend is naturally a good project!"
Daniel believed blindly.
Emily felt a bit embarrassed, "I'm glad you trust me. But business is business. When the project gets back to Silverlight City, I'll have the project leader contact you directly. When you see the new data, you'll know I'm not lying."
"Okay!" Daniel had no objections.
Soon, the car arrived at the hotel.
Daniel and Emily went upstairs together.
Now that Daniel's poison had been cured, and since Wren had her own things to handle, Emily had moved back to the hotel room originally booked for her.
Considering Emily's health, Daniel first let Emily return to her room to rest.
Then he even called a doctor to examine Emily.
After confirming her body was recovering well, he finally felt at ease.
Since there had been quite a bit of commotion at the evening banquet, Daniel figured she probably hadn't eaten much at night, so he specially arranged for food to be delivered to her room so she could eat something and fill her stomach.
All these detailed gestures made Emily's frozen heart gradually begin to thaw.
This kind of love was like spring rain falling silently.
Emily lay on the bed, a smile unconsciously forming on her lips that she couldn't suppress.
Then her phone rang once, then again.
Emily thought someone was messaging her.
However, the first few sounds weren't message notifications from anyone.
They were bank deposit notifications.
It was Calista's transfer of five million dollars, plus another million dollars from several other people.
Because Calista had added an extra three million dollars, it now totaled ten million dollars.
Getting ten million dollars in one night just for saying a few words didn't seem too bad.
Emily thought about it, then transferred two million dollars to Aaron.
She added a note: Share the wealth—you deserve the top credit for tonight.
Aaron was thinking that Emily should be lying down by now, so he wanted to message her to check in and ask about her current situation with Daniel.
He didn't expect her to message him first.
And so generously—right off the bat, two million dollars. Reading the attached message, he smiled affectionately.
Aaron: [Generous. I don't dare claim the credit. If there are more jobs like this in the future, just say the word.]
He didn't refuse and accepted the two million dollars Emily sent.
He figured he'd find an opportunity later to give Emily something even better in return.
After finishing that matter, Emily asked about the real business.
Emily: [Why did you go back to Emerald City? I heard you've already started taking over the Hill family business. Tell me, what's going on?]
Seeing this message, Aaron's expression showed a moment of sadness and gloom.
However, after going through this ordeal, he had matured considerably and quickly collected his emotions.
Aaron: [There was a traitor in the family who nearly lost the entire business. Grandpa got so angry he fell ill, and my parents even got into a car accident. I had no choice but to step up. But don't worry—Grandpa has regained consciousness after treatment. I've consolidated all the family's businesses and dealt with all those tumors. Power is now concentrated in my hands. No one will be able to scheme against the Hill family anymore.]
Though Aaron explained what had happened recently in just a few short sentences, Emily could glimpse the danger of the situation from these few words.
Especially since Aaron didn't mention his parents, Emily couldn't help but have a bad feeling.
She fell silent, wondering whether to offer to help with treatment.
Aaron should know about her medical skills. If he hadn't asked, did that mean it might really be...
