Chapter 305 You Are with Her, Don't Get Dragged Down by Her
"I'm sorry, so sorry. Let me take you to the lounge to change your clothes?"
The waiter's feet "slipped," and the wine glass he was holding tipped over, spilling red wine directly onto Daniel's clothes.
He immediately gave Daniel a sincere apology.
Daniel frowned.
But he didn't make a fuss about it right away.
Instead, he continued waiting for his call to connect.
Emily saw her phone ringing—it was actually Daniel calling.
Though she wondered why Daniel was calling her at this time.
Emily still answered the call. "Daniel, why are you calling at this hour? Is something wrong?"
"Nothing, where are you now? Are you with Kaia?"
Daniel didn't say he was worried something had happened to Emily, but asked the two questions he cared about.
"Kaia brought me to a party, and she's here too!"
Emily's words were truthful.
Kaia was with her, at the same party.
Just not by her side at the moment.
Daniel frowned, about to ask what party it was, when Emily's phone was snatched from behind her.
And hung up right in front of her face.
"It's almost been half an hour, and you're still calling for help? Realizing now it's not working? Can't find anyone?"
The speaker was still that girl in a dress, Calista's little follower, her words full of mockery.
"Give it back!"
Emily didn't like people taking her things for no reason.
Especially something as personal and important as her phone.
Emily's whole presence intensified, her eyes cold as she stared at the other person.
The girl hadn't expected Emily to have such a strong presence, with such a frightening look in her eyes.
Instinctive fear made her hand shake, and the phone started falling to the ground.
Fortunately, Emily reacted fast enough, with quick hands.
Just before the phone hit the ground, she caught it.
Emily breathed a slight sigh of relief, gripping her phone and standing straight to face the other person.
"You should be grateful my phone didn't break, otherwise, one million dollars wouldn't be enough to settle this!"
"Your crappy phone, one million dollars isn't enough? You must be crazy for money. We actually thought better of you for daring to make this bet, but now we realize that betting with you is beneath us."
The woman in red sneered mockingly.
Calista and the other girls also looked at Emily with contempt.
Calista spoke up, "As fellow women, if you really need money, we might be generous enough to give you some, but you insist on using such an embarrassing way. I think this bet is actually pointless—you're definitely going to lose, you can't produce an invitation."
Emily scanned everyone present, finally settling her gaze on Calista's face.
"My phone itself isn't worth one million dollars. What's valuable are certain things inside it. Someone as short-sighted as you, who likes to judge people casually, how could you possibly understand!
As for the bet..."
She opened her phone to check the time. "There are still five minutes left. Until the last moment, you have no right to say I've lost. Or are you all afraid of losing, so you're deliberately picking a fight?"
"Who's afraid of losing? It's just five minutes. I don't believe you can actually get the invitation delivered in five minutes."
The woman in red spoke harshly.
There was even some smugness in her words.
She knew Calista had already contacted the organizers, so even if someone brought an invitation, they would be blocked at the door and couldn't get in.
Emily was bound to lose!
Calista looked at Emily with a mocking smile. "Since you're so confident, five minutes then—we'll wait right here!"
Originally, it was just a small group of people surrounding Emily.
But standing around someone without moving.
Soon attracted the attention of some nearby people.
Some couldn't help but come closer to see what was going on.
As people came closer, they pulled aside those on the outer edge who knew what was happening to ask.
One person telling another, more and more curious onlookers gathered.
The commotion here finally caught Daniel's attention.
The waiter had deliberately spilled wine on him, and Daniel realized it was intentional. His first guess was Axel.
The person had even offered to take him to change clothes, saying there were spare clothes in the lounge.
Daniel became even more worried about Emily.
Plus her phone had been suddenly hung up.
Emily had never hung up on him when they weren't finished talking, which made Daniel even more concerned.
So, even wearing his alcohol-stained clothes, Daniel didn't care about appearances and hurried downstairs to leave.
He was already walking toward the main entrance when he faintly heard what seemed to be Emily's voice coming from a large crowd gathered nearby.
Daniel instinctively changed direction and walked toward the crowd.
He was nearly six feet tall, tall even among men, so thanks to his height, even from the outer edge, he could see Emily surrounded in the middle.
"Move aside!"
Daniel's voice was cold and commanding, his naturally authoritative presence making people instinctively clear a path.
Daniel walked straight to Emily's side, his concerned gaze checking her up and down.
He even sniffed the air, confirming there was no smell of blood and she hadn't suffered any physical harm, before Daniel relaxed a bit.
"Are you okay?"
Daniel asked with concern.
Emily hadn't expected Daniel to arrive so quickly. "I'm fine."
She shook her head and even moved her body to put Daniel's mind at ease.
Since Emily was fine, Daniel's expression softened.
He asked in a deep voice, "What's going on?"
Not accusatory.
Just a straightforward question.
His eyes even conveyed: Don't be afraid, I'll back you up.
Emily briefly explained what had happened.
She told the truth, not afraid of the onlookers hearing.
After listening, Daniel's sharp gaze shot toward Calista, who was leading the group.
Calista hadn't met Daniel before and didn't recognize him.
Her eyes also noticed the red wine on Daniel's clothes.
A man of status definitely wouldn't parade around such an occasion wearing clothes covered in wine.
Though she was somewhat displeased that the onlookers had heard what Emily said.
Right now, Calista's desire to put Emily down outweighed everything else.
She met Daniel's excessively cold gaze, trying hard not to back down. "You're Emily's accomplice, right? She's troublesome, came in without an invitation. We told her to leave, but she made big claims, which led to this bet. If you don't want to be dragged down by such a stupid woman, you should leave now while you can."
Though Calista threatened Daniel, her eyes stared intensely at him.
Even though she assumed Daniel had no power or influence, his face was even better looking than Axel's, which made her unable to help looking at him several more times.
The thought of keeping him even flashed through her mind, though she quickly suppressed it.
Then the little woman in red beside her reminded, "Calista, time's almost up. This Emily is going to lose."
She even counted down: "10, 9, 8..."
Watching the numbers get smaller, Calista raised her eyebrows, looking at Emily with a challenging gaze.
