Chapter 238: Bianca's Little Thoughts
"I'll do whatever you say. I'll head back now then. I'll drive you to the competition tomorrow."
In the end, no one knew exactly what Emily had said.
Anyway, Daniel was like a happy puppy, becoming especially gentle and warm.
Emily met his smiling eyes, which seemed like a huge whirlpool ready to pull her in.
She pressed down on her racing heartbeat, thinking to herself that she couldn't get too close to him right now. Her heart was becoming more and more out of control—she was about to fall.
Having just gotten out of a relationship, she needed time to think clearly about what she wanted. She didn't want to be ruled by emotions again so quickly and make a hasty decision.
Emily opened her mouth, about to refuse. "No need, you're busy too."
"I'm not busy. It's settled then. After your competition, you'll be going to the Smith Villa anyway, so naturally I need to personally pick you up and drop you off to feel at ease!"
Daniel didn't give Emily much chance to refuse. After saying this, he turned and left the villa.
The next day.
Daniel came to the villa early to wait for Emily.
"Sorry, I stayed up late last night and woke up late!"
When Emily got up and found Daniel waiting outside early, she felt a bit embarrassed.
"There's still plenty of time, take your time."
Daniel knew Emily had a competition, so naturally he had found out clearly about the organizers of this competition and even had them give him a detailed schedule. So he knew when Emily's competition was.
Even if Emily was really late, with just a word from him, they would make an exception for Emily.
Of course, he believed Emily wouldn't be late.
Besides, he understood Emily and knew she probably wouldn't want to use this seemingly unfair method.
If she was going to win an award, it would naturally be through the fairest, most merit-based way.
He placed the prepared breakfast on the dining table.
"When you're ready, come eat breakfast. I had someone prepare it!" Daniel's voice was low and calm. His sleeves were rolled up because of what he was doing, revealing his lean wrists, adding a touch of casual sexiness.
She quickly went upstairs to freshen up briefly before coming back down.
Daniel hadn't eaten, seemingly waiting for her.
Emily had already calmed her emotions by now and started having breakfast with him.
Neither of them spoke again, but the atmosphere was especially harmonious and warm.
Emily took a sip of the porridge, and her eyes immediately lit up.
She didn't expect it to be so fragrant. She wondered where Daniel had found someone to hire—it was just a bowl of porridge, yet it was made so deliciously.
The sandwiches were also especially good.
Daniel saw Emily's eyes light up as she ate.
This meant she was very satisfied with the food.
Instantly, joy bloomed in Daniel's heart.
She liked—the breakfast he made.
Daniel's face showed nothing, but he quietly served her another bowl of porridge.
Both of them ate this meal with great satisfaction.
Daniel then personally drove Emily to the competition venue.
Yesterday, because Daniel had someone inquire about the competition, the organizer, being a smart person, guessed that Daniel might show up today. So they had been secretly checking information on arrivals, and sure enough, they spotted Daniel.
What surprised the organizer even more was that Daniel, who had kept away from women for years and was even rumored to possibly like men, had a girl with him for the first time.
And he was personally driving this girl to participate in the competition.
"Mr. Smith, hello, I'm the person in charge of this competition. Your presence at our design competition is truly an honor for us."
The organizer smiled so warmly that Emily, watching, was a bit worried for his face—afraid he might smile so hard he'd hurt it.
Daniel just nodded lightly. "No need to mind me, I'm just accompanying a friend to the competition."
He slightly turned his body to let the other person focus their attention on Emily.
"Yes, yes, yes. Miss, may I ask your name? The competition hasn't started yet, how about you and Mr. Smith go to the rest room we've specially prepared backstage?"
The organizer was shrewd and could see Daniel's care for Emily, so he immediately shifted his focus.
He figured that as long as he kept Emily happy, Daniel would naturally be pleased too.
Emily had planned to enter later anyway and was originally thinking about how to get Daniel to leave first.
Now that she could avoid appearing immediately while still being able to participate in the competition, she readily agreed. "My name is Emily. We can just find a spot to wait. Would going to the rest room be too much trouble for you?"
"Mr. Smith is our honored guest, and Ms. Johnson is a contestant. Being able to relax more and submit a satisfying work in the competition is the purpose of our hosting this event. How could it be trouble? This way, please, you two!"
The organizer immediately bowed and made an inviting gesture.
Emily and Daniel exchanged glances, and she still asked, "Will it delay your time?"
Daniel had planned to wait and watch Emily's competition and leave together with her anyway, so how could it be a delay?
Of course, he also saw that she wanted to go to the rest room first, so he replied, "It won't. Let's go."
"Okay."
Since he said so, Emily didn't act coy.
The two were led to the special rest room in the back.
On the way, they almost bumped into a mentor who was hurrying over. Fortunately, the organizer reacted quickly enough to prevent Daniel from being hit.
That person, having almost hit someone, seemed arrogant and displeased, glaring at Daniel and Emily. Especially when their gaze fell on Emily's face, amazement flashed in their eyes, and they actually stared for a moment.
It was only when the organizer cleared his throat that the other person recognized who the organizer was and restrained themselves.
The organizer couldn't be bothered to argue with this person right now and quickly apologized to Daniel and the others, leading them to the rest room.
The organizer planned to settle Daniel and Emily first, then go find that mentor to settle accounts and give a warning.
However, when he came back, that mentor had already gone to visit other mentors, waiting to go to the judges' room together in a bit.
As for Bianca.
She had checked her phone several times. As the competition start time drew closer and closer, she scanned the venue over and over but didn't see Emily anywhere.
Bianca's smile grew bigger and bigger.
It seemed the law enforcement bureau had already arrested Emily and hadn't released her yet. Emily definitely wouldn't be able to participate in today's competition.
Next, it would be her show.
For this, she had even specially arranged for reporters, waiting for when she won the gold award so they could report it well and make her famous.
There was one minute left before the host would take the stage and announce the start of the competition.
Bianca was certain that Emily really hadn't come. She relaxed and turned her attention to the people who had shown up today.
She happened to meet the gaze of one of the mentors, and they immediately smiled at each other, the smile showing familiarity.
Then, the other person nodded at Bianca, their eyes seeming to communicate something.
Because of this, Bianca didn't notice that Emily appeared at the competition venue at exactly this moment.
The competition began.
