Chapter 119: Real Power and Shares
"Look, I earned this position and these shares through my own skills. Whether I prove it or not, they're mine. But since you really wanna know, I'll give you the chance."
Emily pulled out a file and tossed it in front of the key members of the Johnson Group project.
"Take a look. This is the optimized data and methods based on the original project manager's work. If you've got any doubts about any part, feel free to point them out, and I'll address each one!"
The group glanced at the file and then turned their eyes to Mr. Song.
Eli wasn't a fan of Emily and worried she might screw things up. But if her work genuinely benefited the project, he could accept her in the position. At the end of the day, Eli cared most about the bottom line.
He nodded.
The group was about to start looking through the file when Bianca swiftly grabbed it.
"Let me take a look first. If Emily's plan has major issues, I can warn her in advance, so she doesn't embarrass herself in front of Mr. Reyes."
Bianca knew Emily must have prepared thoroughly if she was presenting the file. Even if she had to nitpick, she would find something to criticize.
Emily didn't stop Bianca. Instead, she mocked her as she flipped through the pages. "Bianca, I'm not underestimating you, but can you even understand these data and methods?"
Bianca's face turned sour. She wanted to vehemently refute Emily, claiming she could understand everything. But as she continued reading, the professional terms and data made her head spin. She genuinely couldn't comprehend it.
However, she wouldn't admit this. She pointed at a random section and asked, "Of course I understand, Emily. Why don't you explain this data? It looks problematic to me."
Bianca randomly pointed at a section, thinking Emily wouldn't understand either, assuming she had someone else prepare it and couldn't explain it herself.
Emily glanced at the section and couldn't help but laugh.
Bianca frowned. "What's so funny, Emily? Are you admitting you don't understand this either? If you found someone capable enough to prepare this, why not let them take charge directly? Laughing to cover up your ignorance is pointless."
"I'm laughing at your stupidity. You can't even understand the title and want me to explain it!"
Emily snatched the file from Bianca's hand and handed it to the key members of the Johnson Group. "Leave the professional work to the professionals. Please take a look. While I'm still available, raise any questions immediately. If there are no issues today, I hope we won't waste too much time during the second phase of the project with unnecessary problems."
Her straightforward words revealed her personality—efficient and practical. Such leaders were preferred by the team over those who pretended to understand and meddled in the project.
The group began reviewing the file, nodding and murmuring words of praise.
Midway through, they had some questions.
"Ms. Johnson, about this section..."
"Ms. Johnson, could you explain why this part is arranged this way?"
Their questions stemmed from a lack of comprehensive understanding compared to Emily.
Emily didn't get angry at the doubts. She patiently explained, expanding on necessary points, earning their deep admiration and praise.
"Mr. Eli Johnson, Ms. Emily Johnson's optimization has boosted both production and sales by over twenty percent. We're excited to work with her!"
The Johnson Group representatives voiced their collective opinion.
Eli looked at Emily with a complex expression. Did she really have this capability? He recalled her previous key contributions to the company, always seeking his approval. Now, she directly tackled the Johnson Group project, maybe to catch his attention.
If she truly had the skills, he wouldn't mind letting her back into the Johnson family. Though he wouldn't retract any official statements, he could treat her better privately.
"Mr. Eli Johnson, do you still doubt my choice? Since your team acknowledges Ms. Emily Johnson, do you have any further objections?" Isaac asked with a faint smile.
Eli didn't get angry. Instead, he looked at Emily and said, "If you have such skills, focus on serious work instead of petty jealousy towards Bianca."
Bianca felt frustrated. Though Emily was mocked, her abilities were ultimately recognized. She knew that real power and shares were more important than others' affection.
Eli extended his hand. "Welcome to the project."
Emily looked at Eli's respectful handshake but felt no emotional ripple. She once craved recognition, but now she stood tall, needing no one's validation.
Before Emily could respond, Finn jumped in, "Dad, are you out of your mind? She probably had someone else make the plan and fooled you all. If you can't see through it, maybe it's time to replace you guys. I don't believe Emily has this capability."
His words angered the key members. If Finn couldn't maintain decorum, they saw no need to.
"Mr. Finn Johnson, if you don't value us, we'll resign!"
"Then hurry up and leave...!"
Finn's words were cut short by Eli slapping him into a daze.
"Dad..."
"Don't call me Dad! I told you to focus on the company, but you waste time on games. Get out of here; you have no say."
Eli once mocked Isaac for having only one son, a useless playboy. Yet, his four sons excelled in various fields. Now, he felt embarrassed in front of Isaac.
"Fine, if you think I'm useless, I'll leave. Don't regret it!" Finn stormed off after being slapped and humiliated.
"Finn..."
Bianca didn't expect Finn to be so weak. She hurriedly called him, but he didn't stop.
Seeing the situation, Bianca told Eli, "Dad, I'll check on Finn. He might do something foolish."
"Go ahead!"
Eli felt worried after scolding Finn but couldn't show it, especially while appeasing the key members Finn had insulted.
Emily commented as Bianca left, "With such low resilience, he's only fit for trivial pursuits."
Bianca paused, fuming at Emily's smugness but had to swallow her anger.
Eli apologized to the key members and offered substantial rewards to calm them down.
Technically, Eli had no further involvement. He was about to leave when his phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, he hurried to a quieter spot to answer.
"Hello, Mr. Smith. What... I'll come over right away. Emily... Yes, she's here; I'll bring her along."
Mentioning Emily, Eli glanced at her with a complex expression.
Emily faintly heard Eli say a name. Could it be Kade?
