Chapter 278 Kidnapping James

Chapter 278 Kidnapping James

"Oh? Who is it?" Razor's tone carried a hint of interest.

"The CEO of the Smith Group, James." Sullivan said with a cold laugh. "He's hospitalized at Northbridge General right now. He's blind and doesn't have many bodyguards around. If you can get him out, I'll give you five million dollars."

Razor on the other end went silent for a few seconds, then said, "Five million dollars? James? Alright, I'll take this job. When do we move?"

"Tonight." Sullivan said. "I've already had someone tamper with the hospital's surveillance. At 2 AM, the cameras by the fire escape will be shut off for ten minutes. You go in from there and get him out."

"No problem." Razor agreed readily. "2 AM, I guarantee I'll bring him out for you."

After hanging up, Sullivan looked out the window, his eyes full of murderous intent.

He thought through gritted teeth, 'James, you ruined my plans, so you should pay the price. I'll make you wish you were dead.'

At 1:50 AM, downstairs at the inpatient building of Northbridge General, two men in black hoodies hid in the shadows.

"Boss, it's almost time." The shorter man checked his watch and said quietly.

Razor nodded, pulled out two masks from his jacket and put one on. "Let's go, stick to the plan. Remember, move fast and don't leave any traces."

The two crouched down and quickly walked to the fire escape door of the inpatient building. Razor took out a pre-made key and unlocked the door. They slipped inside and climbed up the stairs.

James's room was in the VIP ward on the fifteenth floor. The two climbed to the fifteenth floor and gently pushed open the fire escape door, peeking out.

The hallway was quiet, with only a lamp on at the nurses' station where a nurse was dozing off at the desk.

The two exchanged glances, then moved quickly to James's room door. Razor pulled out a card from his pocket and swiped it on the door lock.

With a soft click, the room door opened.

The two gently pushed the door open and walked in. The curtains were drawn in the room, making it quite dark, with only a vague outline of someone lying on the bed visible.

James was sleeping deeply, breathing evenly.

Razor gave the shorter man a look.

The shorter man nodded, pulled out a cloth soaked in ether from his jacket, and quickly walked to the bedside.

Just as he was about to press the cloth over James's face, James suddenly opened his eyes.

Although he couldn't see anything, he still keenly sensed someone approaching.

"Who?!" James suddenly sat up and shouted.

The shorter man was startled but didn't stop his movement, clamping his hand over James's mouth.

James struggled desperately, reaching out to push him away.

But his body was still very weak, no match for two grown men.

The smell of ether quickly rushed into his nostrils. James felt his head spinning, his struggling strength getting weaker and weaker.

Within seconds, everything went black and he completely lost consciousness.

Razor quickly walked over, felt James's carotid artery, and confirmed he had passed out.

"Quick, get him into the wheelchair," Razor said quietly.

The two worked together to lift James from the bed and place him in a wheelchair they had prepared, covering him from head to toe with a blanket, leaving only a bit of hair showing.

Then, Razor pushed the wheelchair while the shorter man supported it from the side, and they quickly left the room.

The nurse in the hallway was still dozing, completely unaware of anything unusual.

The two pushed the wheelchair and quickly entered the fire escape, going down the stairs.

At exactly 2 AM, the fire escape surveillance shut off for ten minutes on schedule.

Taking advantage of this window, the two pushed James out of the inpatient building and quickly walked to a white van parked by the roadside.

Razor opened the back door, and the two lifted James inside, dumping him onto the back seat.

The shorter man closed the door, and Razor started the car.

The van slowly drove away from the hospital and disappeared into the night.

At the break of dawn, Serenity left home carrying a thermos.

The VIP ward hallway was quiet, with only the nurses' station light on. A young nurse was looking down, organizing medical records.

Serenity smiled and greeted her, walking briskly toward James's room.

The nurse looked up, saw it was her, and smiled back with a nod.

Serenity walked to the room door and pushed it open.

"James, I made you chicken soup, drink it while it's hot..."

Her words stopped abruptly.

The room was empty.

The blanket on the bed had been thrown aside in a mess, and the person who should have been lying in bed was nowhere to be seen.

"James? James?" Her voice trembling, she quickly walked to the bedside and reached out to touch the sheets.

Ice cold.

They had been cold for a long time.

The person had been gone for quite a while.

Serenity's breath caught. She staggered back a step and barely managed to stay standing by holding onto the bedside table.

In the entire room, except for the missing James, nothing else was gone.

"Nurse! Nurse!" Serenity's voice carried a sob. "Someone come quick! James is gone!"

The nurse heard her shouting and got startled, quickly running over. "What happened?"

"James is gone!" Serenity grabbed the nurse's arm. "There's no one in the room! He can't even see, where could he go!"

The nurse panicked too and quickly peeked into the room. It was indeed empty.

"Check the surveillance quickly!" Serenity was shaking all over. "See who took my son away! Hurry!"

The head nurse didn't dare delay and immediately took Serenity to the hospital's surveillance room.

The surveillance room staff pulled up last night's footage.

When the screen jumped to 1:58 AM, two men in black hoodies and masks appeared at the fire escape door.

They were holding a wheelchair and moved quietly to James's room door.

About three minutes later, the two came out pushing the wheelchair.

Someone was sitting in the wheelchair, covered from head to toe with a black blanket, with only a bit of black hair showing.

"It's them! They're the ones who took my son away!" Serenity pointed at the screen. Her body swayed, everything went black, and she almost collapsed to the ground.

The head nurse beside her reacted quickly and caught her.

"Call the police... yes, call the police!" Serenity dialed 911.

The moment the call connected, she couldn't hold back anymore and burst into tears. "Officer! I need to report a case! James was taken from his VIP room at Northbridge General! Please come quickly!"

After hanging up, Serenity slumped in a chair in the surveillance room, tears silently streaming down her face.

She never imagined that after just going home to sleep for a few hours, when she came back, James would be gone.

His eyes still couldn't see, his body was still so weak. What would happen to him after being taken away by those vicious people?
