Chapter 303 Using Tricks

Chapter 303 Using Tricks

Nicholas had been staying at the company for several days straight. The Spencer Corporation was affected by public opinion, and internal divisions had emerged.

Many people no longer supported Nicholas unconditionally, but adopted a wait-and-see attitude instead. Several projects had come to a standstill.

Before they knew it, the time agreed upon with Lachlan had arrived.

Diana got up early in the morning and dressed carefully. Looking at her somewhat more mature self in the mirror, Diana couldn't help but sigh - it hadn't even been a year since her rebirth, yet she had experienced so many things.

She gently held the sapphire pendant at her chest. These past few days, it had been feeling warm, and Diana had a gut feeling this meant something.

Nicholas was also dressed particularly formally today, in a black suit that made him look serious and dignified.

"Diana, are you ready?"

"I'm ready." Diana took a deep breath, smiled and turned to look at him. "We'll split up. Whether Lachlan shows up or not, we need to expose the truth about Horizon Healthcare."

She wanted revenge for herself and her parents Ollie and Rowan, and also for Nicholas's parents Seraphina and Clarence.

Nicholas's Adam's apple bobbed, then he nodded firmly. "Okay."

Nicholas and Diana left the hotel and got into different cars.

Gemma sat in the driver's seat, looking at Diana with some concern. "Ms. Windsor, let me take your place. He might not be able to tell the difference."

"He'll definitely be able to tell." Diana shook her head. "Gemma, I have a feeling that after this, we should be able to relax for a long time."

"I believe you. Your hunches are always right." Gemma smiled for once, though there was a hint of worry in her eyes.

Nicholas had already gone to prepare the press conference. Lachlan's identity had been reported, and since they were going to expose Lachlan's crimes, it was more appropriate for Nicholas to appear.

Diana was only responsible for stalling for time.

Diana arrived at a small fishing village port. The fishermen had just returned from fishing and were all gathering their nets. The smell of fish filled the air everywhere.

She frowned slightly and looked around but didn't see Lachlan.

Her phone rang. Diana answered immediately. "Mr. Spencer, where are you?"

"I'm watching you." Lachlan said playfully. "Ms. Windsor is very punctual, but I told you to come alone."

"You want me to walk thirty-one miles from downtown to here alone in high heels? Are you crazy, or am I?" Diana said unhappily. "If you want to make a deal, show yourself. If you don't show up, I'm leaving."

She opened the car door as she spoke, about to get in.

"Wait." Lachlan immediately stopped Diana.

Clio's voice came through Diana's Bluetooth earpiece. "Stall for another half minute, we're almost there with the location."

"Okay." Diana said softly.

Lachlan thought Diana was talking to him and finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Ms. Windsor is also the future Mrs. Spencer. I can understand wanting to take over the domestic company. In that case, as long as the documents arrive, isn't that enough?"

"Where are the documents and the special medicine?" Diana got out of the car again and looked around, still unable to find Lachlan.

A low laugh came from the other end of the phone. "Ms. Windsor, stop looking. I didn't plan to meet you today. Our deal just needs to continue. Keep walking forward to the house at the end, and leave the stuff at the door of that house."

"Aren't you afraid what I give you is fake?" Diana walked slowly along the small path in the fishing village, with many fishermen looking at her curiously.

"Of course not. Declan is still in my hands." Lachlan seemed particularly confident in his own abilities. "Besides, Sawyer is in my hands. No matter how much you say you don't care, I know you do care deep down. After all, he's Nicholas's only family, isn't he?"

"Got the location, he's on a fishing boat by the sea!" Clio's voice came through the earpiece.

Diana hung up directly, but felt a bit uneasy.

Lachlan was right - she couldn't completely ignore Sawyer's fate. After all, Sawyer was Nicholas's only family.

She could only hope that Luke and his people could find Lachlan. As long as they caught Lachlan, everything would be resolved.

Diana glanced toward the dock. The people they brought had already disguised themselves as fish buyers and were approaching the dock.

Diana continued walking forward, her heart pounding.

Suddenly, the sound of fishing boat engines came from the seaside, mixed with cursing voices.

"Shit! Don't let them get away!"

"Quick, they're right there! Quick!"

"The yacht, start the yacht!"

Diana spun around and saw several fishing boats speeding away at top speed. That speed clearly came from modified engines, even faster than speedboats.

Her phone vibrated. Diana answered immediately.

"Diana, you damn bitch, you dare set a trap for me!" Lachlan's furious roar came from the other end.

Diana laughed coldly. "Weren't you setting a trap for me too?"

The people in the house at the end of the fishing village had already been caught by Gemma. "Ms. Windsor, every one of them is carrying weapons!"

"Your men have been caught, Lachlan. You think you can escape?" Diana checked the time. "Why don't you check the news? You can't go back to Novaria now, can you?"

Nicholas's press conference should have ended. Diana believed that with Boomer and the others fanning the flames, the internet should be full of news about Horizon Healthcare by now.

Sure enough, soon she heard Lachlan cursing on the other end of the phone.

"Diana, you dare trick me, aren't you afraid your grandmother will die with me? I'm telling you, as long as Sawyer is in my hands, the Spencer Corporation is mine. Don't even think about taking it away!"

"You and that damn man Nicholas are truly made for each other, both born with cheap lives! As long as I'm alive, I won't let you have peace."

"You think Novaria is my only hideout?"

"Police forces from all countries will unite to hunt you down. If you don't want to spend the rest of your life drifting on the high seas, turn yourself in." Diana's voice became particularly serious. "As long as you surrender and release everyone you've kidnapped, you still have a way out."

"Dream on!"

Lachlan hung up viciously, but Diana clearly heard a voice on the other end say "Lachlan."

It was an elderly voice. Diana didn't quite remember Sawyer's voice, but she had a gut feeling that person was Sawyer.

"Ms. Windsor, should we go back now?" Gemma walked over, escorting several people.

Diana only glanced at these people, then turned and got in the car.

She pressed her Bluetooth earpiece and asked softly, "Clio, can you locate Lachlan?"

"Signal's cut off. I'm guessing he threw away his phone." Clio's voice carried some urgency. "Luke's been chasing him. As long as he doesn't reach international waters, we can definitely catch him."

"Good!" Diana finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Then locate Luke's yacht and have people ready to provide backup at any time. Mr. Spencer is on that fishing boat!"
