An hour later, the private doctor arrived at the villa. After drawing Jesse's blood and storing it, he performed some other tests. "Since I'm here, let me check your leg injury," the doctor said.
"No need, there's nothing to check, it's still the same," Jesse's face tightened instantly, and a hint of hostility flashed across his body.
The private doctor sighed, "Jesse, your current state isn't conducive to recovery."
"Recovery? What kind of recovery can I expect?" Jesse snorted.
"You have to believe in miracles!"
"You, a doctor, are telling me about miracles?" Jesse sneered.
"All doctors believe in miracles. Treatment requires cooperation between the doctor and the patient."
Seeing that Jesse didn't say anything, the doctor changed the subject, "Oh, by the way, isn't your wife also injured? Should I check on her while I'm here?"
Jesse raised his eyebrows and smirked, "You seem to care about her."
"I'm just thinking that since she's your wife, I don't want her to have any lasting effects from her injury." He had to explain clearly. Everyone knew that Nydia was a thorn in Jesse's heart, impossible to remove or ignore.
Jesse didn't respond and asked the butler to call Nydia.
"Madam, master wants you to come to the living room," the butler knocked on the door and heard a groggy voice from inside.
After about two minutes, Nydia slowly walked into the living room, rubbing her eyes with her right hand. She was wearing a nightgown, probably because she wasn't used to the light in the living room.
"What's the matter? Why did you call me?" her voice was still groggy.
However, when she saw the man next to Jesse, she was stunned and instantly sober. It wasn't just Jesse, there was also a young man and the butler.
"Ah!" she let out a low cry, covering her chest with one hand and her face with the other. "Let me go back and change first!"
She ran away.
Jesse's face turned cold, the private doctor looked embarrassed, and the butler had already turned around.
"Jesse, your wife seems to have... become a bit cute!" The doctor chuckled lightly.
"... "Jesse didn't expect Nydia to come out in a nightgown, still groggy from sleep. She always wore conservative sleepwear when she saw him, almost always long dresses or pants. And judging by her appearance, she was sleeping quite soundly.
Five minutes later, Nydia appeared in front of Jesse again, dressed appropriately. Her face was slightly flushing, showing some embarrassment.
"Mrs. Pascall, I will check your physical condition and see how you are recovering," said Nydia.
"Oh, okay."
Nydia knew him, Vincent Wallaker, Jesse's personal doctor. Why did he come today? To see Jesse's leg injury?
Nydia cooperated with Vincent's physical examination and also had her blood drawn for testing.
"How did your hand get injured?" Vincent asked.
"Accidentally scratched by porcelain shards," Nydia explained simply.
"Your wound is a bit deep. It would be better to stitch it up."
"Okay, thank you."
"No worries."
Vincent stitched Nydia's wound. Since there were only three stitches, he did not use anesthesia. Nydia gritted her teeth and endured the pain, her forehead covered in sweat, while her other hand tightly gripped a pillow on the couch. Her lips turned pale.
But the spot that Jesse had bitten earlier began to bleed again, slowly staining her lower lip red.
Jesse did not say a word throughout the entire process, just staring at Nydia intently. Today's Nydia was too unusual, making him more vigilant.
After giving Nydia some precautions, Vincent said goodbye and left. Jesse went out to see him off.
"Jesse, your wife doesn't seem as bad as you say," Vincent even thought Nydia was a bit cute.
"It's none of your business no matter how she is," Jesse said.
"Tsk, are you throwing me away after using me? Or are you jealous?" Vincent didn't seem angry at all, as if he had long been accustomed to this kind of Jesse.
"Take care, no need to send you off."
Vincent smiled happily, he was too familiar with Jesse. Jesse's possessiveness was very strong, but he felt that if Jesse cared about someone, it would be good for his recovery.
Jesse returned home and found that Nydia had already gone back to the bedroom. He stared at the bedroom door thoughtfully.
He opened the door and only one bedside lamp was on in the room.
Nydia immediately sat up from the bed when she saw him, wearing her nightgown.
"Is there something else?" She was a bit puzzled. Didn't they sleep in separate rooms?
Jesse just looked at her with a dim gaze. She was wearing a strap nightgown, and when she got up just now, one of the straps slipped off her shoulder, revealing a glimpse of skin.
The warm yellow filter of the bedside lamp coated her skin with a warm tone, making her look particularly gentle, but also inexplicably sexy.
"Come here!" His voice was slightly hoarse.
Jesse was sitting on the bed, and Nydia crawled over and knelt in front of him. He reached out and pressed his palm against the back of Nydia's neck, suddenly exerting force, pressing her head onto his leg.
She wanted to raise her head, but the pressure on her neck prevented her from doing so, and her eyes were forced to meet his angry gaze.
He didn't let anyone touch his legs, but at this moment he was pressing her onto his leg, in a humiliating position.
"What's wrong?" She struggled to speak, even though she couldn't see Jesse's expression, she could feel his anger and suppressed rage because she was looking right at him. Their noses were almost touching.
"Nydia, are you trying to seduce my personal doctor?" His voice was slow but sharp, like a poisoned knife cutting through her flesh.
"No, I'm not," she struggled to break free, but his grip was too strong, and she remained in the same position.
"You dressed like this, and you say you're not?"
"I didn't mean to, I didn't know you had a guest," Nydia's voice was muffled, angry, and helpless.
Jesse sneered, "So you dressed like this to see me?"
He finally released her, and she was able to look up at him. Her cheeks were flushed from the struggle, and there were small beads of sweat on her forehead and nose.
"Yeah!" Nydia replied, her breaths quickening, and her fallen shoulder strap remained unadjusted.
Jesse's face turned cold, and he seemed indifferent to what she said, with a hint of mockery in his eyes. The dim light made his face half-lit and half-dark, making it impossible to guess his mood.
"Kiss me!"
Nydia was stunned and didn't react at first.
"What? Don't want to?" He sneered, his eyes half-closed, his hand pressing on the armrest of his wheelchair, which had a button that would help him turn around if pressed.
Just as his finger was about to press the button, Nydia grabbed his hand. She leaned forward, propping herself up with her other hand on his shoulder, and kissed him on the lips.
These actions happened in an instant, and by the time Jesse reacted, he felt the soft and gentle touch on his lips.
His eyes widened slightly, showing shock, anger, reluctance, and desire.
Nydia closed her eyes and kissed him, putting her weight on him.
Jesse instinctively closed his eyes, feeling the sweetness and faint smell of blood, but the next moment, he suddenly opened his eyes and pushed Nydia away, causing her to fall on the bed with a cry.
When she got up, she could only see Jesse's back as he drove his wheelchair out of her bedroom.
She touched her lips, still feeling the warmth and sensation of Jesse's kiss.
Why did he respond to her at first but then push her away suddenly?
He got angry with her earlier because she dressed too sexy in front of other men, so he still cared about her, which meant that there was still a chance to save their relationship!
The stinging pain in her palm forced her to go out and change the bandage.
As she passed Jesse's bathroom, she could faintly hear the sound of running water.
