THE BATTLE OF LOYALTY

THE BATTLE OF LOYALTY
Sebastian's POV

“Congratulations, you two have been able to pass the first trial. The second trial shall commence immediately you step into the next gate," the gatekeeper said as we approached the next gate.

Lucas smirked as he stopped a few feet away from me. I still don't feel something is right with the easy challenge. They literally sent the weakest kind of beast to wrestle with alphas.

Does this have to do with Lucas. Maybe it is part of his tricks. The first trial doesn't just add up to me.

“Just like that? The first trial wasn't as difficult as I assumed it to be. Are you sure there wasn't an error? Or do we have to fight another beast ahead?" I inquired, not entirely satisfied with the result of the first trial.

“You passed the test, Alpha Sebastian. It was a trial of strength and not combat. You succeeded by using the strength you have as an Alpha to defeat the beast. If you had shifted and depended on your wolf, you won't have been able to pass the first test. That's the first trial and both of you succeeded," the gatekeeper explained.

Lucas threw his head back as her roared out a laughter. It's surprising he was able to use his head to pass the first trial given that he is a hot head who acts before he thinks.

“Silence please, the next trial will be far different from the first one. And I doubt both of you will be able to succeed. Only one person gets to pass the stage in a way that will satisfy the moon goddess's approval. Remember to be the supreme commander of the werewolf Kingdom one has to lay down for his sheep." With that said, the gatekeeper proceeded to unlock the second gate, letting us into the second trial.

Evelyn POV

Rage blindfolded my eyes as I stared at the screen. Lucas had not passed the first stage as required but was allowed to go to the next trial.

No one spoke about the checking method he had used to eliminate the beast in his side of the gate.

While Sebastian had wrestled a werebeast, he had fought a fire beast that could crash a being who tried to use dark magic against it. Lucas didn't use his strength instead he used dark spells to counter the beast to submission.

“This is unacceptable!" I slightly raised my voice but Rowan and Rayna who were beside me reminded me to stay low.

“Luna Evelyn, please don't let what you see on the screen get the best of you. Surely, there is a reason why they let him pass to the next level," Rowan advised, pointing out the view I had not reasoned.

“Rowan is right. Only a true leader will follow the requirements needed to become the Apex Alpha," Rayna added agreeing with Rowan.

Seeing they were both levelheaded about the whole issue, I decided to let it slide. I remained quiet and watched the second trial unfold.

The gatekeeper reappeared at the arena to announce the theme of the next trial.

“Second trial is the battle of loyalty. Whoever fails to prove their dedication to whatever test they are given will be eliminated for the next round," he explained, waving his hand to change the screen's view.

Sebastian's gate opened to a mirrored version of our mansion. He paused at the similarity, even I would be confused if I had been in his shoes.

Just as he was about to take a step forward, Ava rushed out of the house and embraced him. I stared in utmost shock, realizing the test was not going to be as simple as it seemed.

“Evie? How are you here?" He asked, holding Ava who seemed to look like me in his eyes.

My fingers found my dress and I clutched the hem of my fabric as anxiety began to set in. It's not that I don't trust Sebastian. I know he will be quick to realize that I am not her.

But what I fear of is the presence of my sister who had tried to poison him once. She could do it again even if the world he was in wasn't real.

No one will contend if anything bad were to happen to him. I struggled to keep my eyes on the screen watching them fill into the large mansion.

“Sebastiasn." She ran her claws on his chest mimicking the gesture I always did whenever I wanted to flirt with him.

“Is she being serious right now?" Jealousy hit the back of my voice before I could stop it.

“Calm down, Luna. She is not real," Rowan said, trying to keep me from bursting out.

“Well, I am trying to calm down. This trial isn't even supposed to be. How can the test him with his own weakness? They definitely want him to fail," I blurted out, losing my composure as she kissed his cheek.

Goddess, I would have strangled her even if she wasn't real.

My voice garnered people's attention to our podium and Rowan had to apologize on my behalf.

“At least, Alpha Sebastian is trying to resist the temptation. Check out Alpha Lucas' screen," Reyna pointed out and I shifted my gaze to Lucas' screen.

Disgust took over my features as I watched him making out with another version of me but in our view was Layla.

“He is unbelievable," I mutters in disgust.

“It is clear that both Alphas are in love with our Luna. You are a priced diamond. They just proved you are an irresistible Queen. I don't support Alpha Lucas but he is a sucker for his ex," Rowan joked but I didn't find her praise funny especially that of Lucas.

My gaze shifted back to Sebastian and he wasn't even doing well. The slut was pulling him to the edge of temptation.

“I can't wait this!" I grumbled, springing up from my chair.

“My Lady, this is a premium show. If you miss it, you won't be able to find out how Alpha Sebastian overcame your beauty. He is struggling so hard not to fall," Reyna chuckled and I couldn't help but feel disturbed.

I should be cheering him on and not getting jealous of some unreal psycho bitch.

“Sebastian, you better keep to your words and come back to me," I muttered under my breath, watching as he fought the temptation in front of him.

“Would you like some tea? I brewed your favorite," she smiled and he froze to her charm.

He was fucking mesmerized by her. “I was wondering, maybe we should start a family here. Just the two of us. We will be a family of five, two boys and a girl. I will forever be you Luna and you will be my alpha. No one or nothing will bring us apart not even date," she said the very words I wanted to hear and that was all it took to snap him out of her enchantment.

Scale flickered from his eyes and his face scrowled at the woman who was still pretending to be me. When she leaned in to kiss him, he grabbed her hair and yanked her away from him.

He scoffed in disbelief and stared at the direction of the screen without knowing it was there. “For a moment, I thought you were actually my wife. But a fake can never compare to the original." He drew out his sword and pierced her right in the heart.

A smile formed on my lips as her body dissipated into the air. That's my man.
