Chapter 190: My past

Chapter 190: My past
“ Here.” Antonio handed her a bottle of water with the cap taken off.

“ Thanks,” Eloise mumbled as she took it from him.

Antonio’s gaze remains fixed on her; she's been hanging her head since the explosion. Even when Oliver was asking how she knew, she didn't utter a word.

He had to step in by taking her out of the area and telling Oliver to go home that he'd get back to him.

He took his seat beside her. “ Are you feeling better now?” He asked after she drank a little.

She nodded.

A second of silence followed.

“ Do you want to talk about it? About what happened earlier.”

Eloise’s breath slowed. “ You won't believe me.”

“ You can't be sure.”

“ I am sure. Everything will seem so absurd and impossible to you.”

“Well, isn't that explosion evidence already? That you're telling the truth.”

She looked at him, hesitating. “ I came back in time.”

Another second of silence followed.

“ What do you mean?”

She swallowed, looking away from him. Her fist clenched against her the bottle. “ I came back from two years from now. During the year 2027, I had a child.”

Antonio’s eyes squinted but he said nothing, not wanting to interrupt her.

“ Her name is Alisha.” Her voice cracked. Her throat dries. “ I loved her so much…I mean she's my daughter. But then, one day, I had to rush her to the hospital, she had HFI.”

She swallowed. “ I didn't have it, nor did Mason, who was my husband. He wouldn't pick up his call. One thing led to another and I found out she wasn't my baby. Alisha doesn't belong to me.”

Antonio’s lips parted as he listened on. He always knew, that her hatred and anger towards Mason was more than just cheating.

But this? He wasn't expecting it to be that brutal.

The emotions laced in her voice, the way her hands kept clenching made him have no doubt.

“ I went to his office to confront him. Cause the doctor said he knew, but then I met him with my best friend. I heard what they said about me, how it was all planned to take everything from me. My baby was stillborn, and the baby I've been taking care of belongs to Tamara.”

She swallowed. “ I died that night, I got into a car accident, but before then I saw the news about the youngest multi-billionaire who died along with his best friend in that same plane. That's how I knew, after that, my accident, I woke up in the year 2025.”

She looked at him, waiting to see his look of absurdity and him shaking his head, not believing her.

But she sees nothing like that.

He simply placed his palm on hers softly and muttered. “ It must've been hard.”

His voice carried heavy emotion that sent shivers down her spine.

She arched her brow. “ You.. believe me?”

“ Hm.” He nodded.

“ But it doesn't make sense, time traveling doesn't make sense.”

“ Actually, nothing has been making sense for some time now.”

“ What do you mean?”

“ I kept dreaming of you being pregnant with Mason's child.” His jaw ticked. “ And having the absurd flashes of death.”

“ Huh?”

“ Heavy wind, Oliver's scream, fire, they must have been memories from that crash. It all makes sense now. I died the same night you died and also came back in time.”

Eloise’s jaw remains unhinged. A pang of relief hit her chest.

“ I've always imagined how this will go, me telling you my secrets and tale.” She smiled. “ I never expected you to believe me, and more, I wasn't expecting you to have memories.”

“ I didn't understand what it meant to, not until this moment.”

She smiled. “ So, did you have memories about your past life too?”

“ No, not at all.” He shook his head.

“ Are you curious? About how your life was? What you did and…”

He pulled her closer into his arms, cutting her short as he wrapped his protective arms around her.

“ I don't care.”

“ What? You don't want to know?”

“ It's not worth knowing if you're not in it.”

Her heart skipped so hard. She looked up to meet his gaze.

“ A life without you in it, isn't worth knowing, Eloise.”

The hairs on her skin rose.

Her stomach did a multiple tumble.

Her heart rate picked up.

Her lips parted but no words came out.

Her fingers curled, fighting to get a word from her spinning head.

“ You talk like I mean the world to you.”

“ That's because you do. You're my world, El. It's meaningless without you in it.”

“ Stop.” She looked away, hoping to steady her racing heart. “ Stop saying stuff like that.”

“ That's my truth, so I'm never letting you out of my life. And I know you're still pissed about the project.”

“ That..”

“ I was going to cancel it. Yeah, you are right, I wanted to use you for the project, but I changed my mind. You're not a tool to be used, and I'm sorry for ever lying to you.”

Tears brimmed in her eyes. “ What's wrong with you?” She pulled away. “ You're not the type to say sorry.”

“ Not to my woman.”

She chuckled. “ You're such a smooth talker, you really do know your way around women's hearts.”

“ I wouldn't say women, but I'll be glad if you say ‘you.”

She looked at him and blushed.

Then cleared her throat. “ I believe what you say. The purpose of marriage was to use each other. To use you to get back at my ex and get my company back. While it's yours to fulfill your grandmother's wish. We can call it a deal now that we both had two things we used each other for.”

“ I'm not sure I was using you.” He smirked, looking down a little.

“ What do you mean?”

“ Nothing.”

“ C'mon, tell me,” she nudged him with a chuckle.

“ Would you believe if I say I've always loved you? And I sabotage your deals on purpose, to get your attention.”

“ What?! You did what?!”

He giggled, biting his lips.

“ Are you for real?”

“ Forget about it.”

“ No, tell me more.” She giggled. “ I have a crazy husband, so you did all that on purpose? What else did you do?”

“ I'm feeling sleepy.” He feigned a yawn, trying to avoid answering some questions she must never know answers to, about how he was obsessed with her. He giggled as he headed upstairs while she followed, questioning and laughing at his cuteness and how he tried to avoid it.
