Chapter 188: Antonio in danger
Chapter 188: Antonio in danger
Eloise winced as she stirred awake. Some part of her body feels weak and painful. As she slowly fell into consciousness, she felt the warmth from her hand.
Someone was holding her, tight and firm like they were afraid she'd slip away.
She slowly opened her eyes in that direction.
“ El?” She heard his voice full of worry.
“ Antonio.” She called his name weakly.
“ Yes, yes, baby, I'm here.”
Her eyes opened fully to see his face twisted with worry.
His brow was furrowed. His hair was all messy. His face was pale and full of exhaustion.
It made her heart ache.
She looked around to figure out where they were.
“ You're in the hospital, let me get the doctor.” Antonio quickly got on his feet but she held him.
“ I'm okay.”
She smiled softly.
He sat back on the chair beside the bed, placed his head on her hand, and struggled to swallow down through his dry throat.
“ I'm sorry.” He muttered, “ I'm so sorry I was late.”
She forced herself to turn to his direction and rubbed his hair smoothly. “ You were not. You saved me.”
She felt his grip get tighter and smiled. “ You look so exhausted, I'm sorry for getting you worried.”
He shook his head and looked up. “ No, you shouldn't be sorry for anything, I was the one who failed you.”
“ I knew you'd come, I was expecting you.”
Antonio sat still, searching through her eyes for more clarity. He expects her to still be angry, upset about the project.
‘ She must have been so scared that she's wishing I'll find her.’ He thought to himself.
“ Antonio.” She called. “ There's something I want to tell you.”
“ Mrs. Eloise.” The doctor arrived just then, interrupting the moment. “ How are you feeling?”
She nodded. “ I'm fine.”
“ Any pain at all?”
“ Just a little.” She replied and saw the nurse writing something inside the file with her.
The more Antonio looked at her face, all plastered, the more the heartache, clenching his fist and blaming himself.
“ With more rest, you'd feel better soon. Please do call on us if you feel any unusual pain anywhere.”
“ I will, thanks, doctor.”
“ You're welcome, Mrs. Brayden.” The doctor gave Antonio a nod before leaving the room.
“ Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything?” He asked, brow creased with concern.
“ I'm fine, I..”
Oliver and Laera walked in just then.
“ Elly.” Laera cooed and ran to hug her.
Eloise chuckled.
“ I'm so glad you're okay.” She said feeling emotional, she was scared when Eloise fainted after Antonio carried her. They'd rushed her to the hospital.
Looking at her now, with bandages and plastered face, Laera's heart sank deeper into her chest.
“ It's all my fault.”
“ No, it isn't, you've done nothing wrong,” Eloise told her, rubbing her palm against her hand softly. “ And I'm sure the men would agree..”
She paused and her brow drew tight. The men were not inside.
“When did Antonio leave?” Eloise asked, looking surprised and stretching her neck to see if he might be outside.
“ They had a flight to catch,” Laera informed.
“ A flight?”
“ Hm.” She nodded. “ To cancel the project.”
“ The billion deal? Why?”
“Oliver said that was Antonio's intention, that he doesn't want to use you, said he changed his mind.”
Eloise gulped and shut her eyes briefly, before opening them in anger. “ He just doesn't tell anyone before doing as he wishes.”
“ When is their plane leaving?”
“ Soon, I think, I don't really know about the new plane, but since it's a private one, they should be leaving earlier.”
“ A private plane?”
Laera nodded. “ Oliver took a liking to that new plane invented, so he booked that one.”
Eloise’s heart began beating faster for no reason, the hairs on her body rose and her thoughts became restless.
“ Let me see, the image of that plane.”
“ Sure.” Laera nodded and took out her phone, then showed Eloise the image.
Her eyes widened instantly.
It was the same plane she's been dreaming about.
The one that had crashed.
Then she realized, she was back in time, so the age of the youngest multi-billionaire would have also reduced by two years.
“ Who's the current youngest billionaire?” She asked, her widened eyes staring into space.
“ I think there are just two, but isn't it known widely that your husband is the youngest multi-billionaire?”
Eloise’s eyes moved to her. Her jaw dropped at the realization.
“ What's wrong, Elly? Are you okay?”
“ He's in danger.”
“ What?! Who?”
“ Antonio. Antonio is in danger.” She jumped out of bed and pulled the IV drip from her hand.
“ Hey, Elly, stop, what are you doing?”
“ Can you drive? Do you have your car around?” She asked rushing towards the ward’s door.
“ No, I don't.”
“ Let's take a cab.” She shouted, telling her stomach in pain as she ran out.
No matter how loud Laera called after her, how worried she is, Eloise doesn't stop for a second to glance back at her.
Barefooted, she ran, panting with fear and hastily stopping a taxi.
Laera got to her before she hopped in and together they got into the taxi.
“ Can you go faster, please?” She pleaded, desperately with the driver.
“ Elly, what's wrong? What's going on?”
Her trembling fingers moved to her teeth, her breath quivering as sweat trickles down her neck.
“ It's today. The day Antonio and Oliver would die.”
“ Wh-what are you talking about?”
With her eyes fluttering, she looked at Laera, tears and fear sticking to her face. “ I can't lose him, Laera, I can't lose Antonio.”
