CHAPTER 36

CHAPTER 36
It's only seven in the morning, but Michael and Brent are already ready to go to Michael's company. Everything they were going to do had been planned the night before. They want this day to be as peaceful as possible, so no matter what happens, they will be patient.

Now, Michael is standing in front of a large mirror, scrutinizing himself, checking if there's anything wrong with his black suit. He just tied his somewhat long hair back. It didn't hinder him from looking manly.

What he sees now is very different from the Michael that most people are used to. Michael is the type of guy who likes to wear black clothes, unlike now, where there is no trace of any other color in what he's wearing—from his clothes to his shoes.

But it was all fine.

This is his plan.

And this time, upon his return, he will not allow himself to trust anyone, not even Jam himself, especially since they talked to their guides last night.

He talked to D, while Brent talked to the angel who helps him.

They only had one question, and that was whether they knew about what Jam did to him.

But both knew nothing. They couldn't get any information about their friend, and it puzzled all of them, especially since it was the first time they couldn't find out what a mortal had done, was doing, or was about to do.

Not finding anything wrong with his clothes, he then left his room to go to Brent, who was waiting downstairs. Only the two of them were in his mansion because Jia had left earlier. She needed to talk to Chief Gary, so she left early. They didn't even want Jia to go back to work, but the woman was insistent. She was fine now, so there was no reason for her not to work.

"What do you think is the reason, Michael?" He turned to Brent. They are in the living room now and are about to leave. The time is right to go to his company.

"What do you mean?"

"What do you think is the reason why the beings that help us can't even see Jam's activities?"

He shrugged his shoulders. He had no idea either. That's what's been bothering him since last night.

But he remembered something, so he stopped walking. He grabbed Brent's arm because he was walking ahead of him. "Wait a minute..." he said to his friend.

"Why? Is there any problem?"

He looked around, looking for something. Until he caught sight of D approaching them. D typically dresses in a butler’s outfit, which consists of black trousers, a six-buttoned double-breasted tailcoat, and a gray vest; and on is his shirt cuffs and tie is a red feather crest. You could read no emotion in his face.

"I just remembered. It's all about you, Brent."

He frowned at what he said. "What about me?"

"Do you know that you were like a blank page to me before Jia and I got close to you again?"

"What?"

"I can't read you, Brent, just like how D is having a hard time gathering information about Brent."

Brent was silent for a moment at what he said. He seemed to be thinking about what he was going to say to him. And when a theory was formed, he spoke again and presented his opinion.

"I think your best friend has nothing to do with your death. I think he's innocent. Because if I base it on what you said, if he's like us, I'm sure his guide is like my guide."

"I don't understand you, Brent. Do you mean Jam is like us?"

"Yes, he's like me."

"Why did you say that?"

"Because you, before, I could somehow freely find out who you are and what is helping you. While me, didn't you say that you can't read me? I think, when an angel is helping you, you can't read a person, but when it's like D, it's easy to figure out the secret you're hiding."

"I don’t think that’s the case, mortal," D interrupted them.

"What?"

"Aside from us who help Michael's family, there is one of our kind who brings nothing but destruction to every man in their family. When we occurred, expect him to be around too."

"Who?"

"Ashmedai or Asmideus."

Michael didn't speak at what D said, but he fell into deep thought.

Does that mean that the one he dreams of besides D before is what he calls Ashmedai? This is the demon that haunts him.

He felt scared. If what D said is right, that means Jam is involved in planning the evil against him. Not only that, but his friend is the mastermind behind his murder.

To avoid the topic, he invited them to leave, which the two immediately agreed to.

He was just so grateful that D already had a body, so he could be with him in flesh. He can talk to him whenever he wants and doesn't worry that someone will see him talking alone.

When the three of them arrived at the company, Brent got out first, before him. He talked to someone first before looking back at them and telling them to get out of the car.

"Don’t worry, mortal, I will do my best to protect what is mine." D even patted him on the shoulder like a person does to sympathize.

The fear and anxiety he felt earlier suddenly disappeared because of what D said. What he learned from his own mouth now was enough.
