CHAPTER 23
CHAPTER 23
6:00 P.M., an hour before the abduction of Brent...
At Mang Jun's house. The old man had just arrived, and he was hurrying home because he hadn't seen Michael at his own company after the explosion incident.
When the old man arrived at the house, he was surprised to find food already prepared. The truth was, he was ashamed of his boss. He couldn't even provide him with decent food and a place to sleep. But he was very grateful that the young man had chosen to ask him for help. He really felt sorry for what happened to him. He knew Michael, he was kind. He was humble even to someone like him who was just a small employee, so he couldn't quite imagine that someone would try to take his life, which was what happened.
It was a good thing that he was given a second chance to live. He wasn't like those who were full of self-pretension. He had a suspicion as to who was behind Mocha's real death, but he didn't want to say anything bad about that person, especially since he had no proof that that person was guilty.
"Oh, hijo, have you been here long?" He put down the bag he always carried when he worked. It was old, and if it weren't for its natural dark green color, the dirt that had accumulated on the bag would probably be visible.
Michael smiled at him, which he always did even when he was still the CEO of the company. The young man's face was bright and looked kind, so his employees weren't afraid of him.
"Yes, Mang Jun. I came home immediately after getting what I needed from my office."
"Ah, is that so? Good thing if that's the case. What are your plans now?"
"I just need to fix Brent's position in the company, then I'll take action. I also need to talk to the siblings, especially Jia. I know they will believe me when I tell them the truth."
He nodded because of what the young man said.
"It's better if you sit down so you can eat. I'll just get a plate in the kitchen." The young man turned his back on him and walked to the kitchen. When he came out, he was carrying a plate and a glass. After putting down the glass and plate he was carrying, he went back to the kitchen, and when he came out, he was carrying the two pots where he cooked the rice and the dish.
When he started serving, he immediately approached the young man so that he could just do what he was doing, but he politely refused. Even though he was ashamed because he was being served by him, he thought it was better to just sit down.
He served the plate that was placed in front of him and gave it to him. Just from the aroma of the adobo he cooked, his stomach was already rumbling, so he didn't hesitate any longer. He spooned some rice and added some broth. When the rice with the dish touched his tongue, he forgot what had happened earlier. The dish was better than embalming, so he calmed himself down.
"Are we leaving now?" he asked the young man after he had taken a few bites.
Michael was just intently looking at Mang Jun. He really intended to cook today. Before he answered, he looked at the suitcase near the door first. On top of the suitcase was a bag. The suitcase contained clothes and some food, while the bag contained money, a large amount of money that was enough for the guard's family to start. He would let him go now. He didn't want the old man to be involved any further, so he would let him go.
Michael reached into his pocket and took out the car key. A 4 x 4 vehicle that he immediately got earlier with D's help.
He just decided to send Mang Jun home because Michael was sure that his life would be even more chaotic in the coming days.
"I'll just go, Mang Jun." The old man nodded as if he wasn't himself. He looked at what he was eating. It had magic. Magic to manipulate Mang Jun's mind. It seemed like he was a robot now who would just follow what he wanted. It was a good thing that he knew how to drive, so he didn't hesitate to buy him a car that he would use to go home to his province.
And for the old man to live peacefully, he asked D for help to erase him from the old man's memory.
"You're going home to your place now, Mang Jun. I don't want you to be involved in my mess anymore, especially now that someone has seen you in the office. I believe that one of those close to me is the mastermind of everything. And because Freddie didn't go home and he knew that you were the last person the man went to, your life is probably in danger, and I don't want you to be harmed, so it's better if you just go home. There's money there, take it. Use it properly so you won't experience any more hardship in your life. That money is enough for your family to live comfortably."
The old man nodded at him. He could see the sadness in his eyes because of what he said. He couldn't understand why he was sad even though he was under D's magic.
Michael shook his head to ward off the warmth he felt in his heart. "Hurry up and eat so you can leave." He nodded again and ate faster.
After he ate, he took the suitcase and bag he had prepared. When Mang Jun came out, he went straight to the car. He was even surprised when he waved while there were tears in his eyes. He watched the old man before he entered the shack that would be his temporary home. Now his plan was complete. He knew what step he would take.
Michael was about to sit down when D spoke, causing his heart to beat fast.
"W-what did you say, D?"
"The siblings are in danger. If you want to find them alive, just tell me.”
