Chapter 37 Chapter 0037
•ANEIRA•

I shook my head as I looked at my mother and couldn’t believe what she had just said to Rafael. I knew if I told him the truth about my identity to get back at her, it would backfire.

“How could you say something like that to me? I loved my sister and wouldn’t have done anything to risk her life. She was as important to me as she was to you. How could I have killed my twin sister?”

“That’s not what I called you here for, Emma. The deal was to give me your daughter to spare your life, and that was done. Doctor Xander will be here tomorrow morning, so I want you to be here as well, to see the consequences of your daughter’s deceit,” Rafael answered before he walked to the door and left.

My mother and I looked at each other for a few seconds before she broke the silence. She closed the gap between us and chuckled.

“My goodness, Aneira,” she shook her head. “If I had known Rafael had turned you into his maid, I would’ve laughed all the way from home to see you. You weren’t joking when you told me he was making your life hell. Well, at least now you know how I felt after you killed my daughter.”

“What do you think Rafael would do to you when I tell him you’re the one who deceived him and told him I am Narra?” I folded my arms across my chest. “He won’t spare your life, Emma. At least I know he won’t kill me, not when I am carrying his child.”

Her lips quivered, and her eyes narrowed. I knew I had stepped on her wrong foot, but she took a moment before she answered me.

“Are you threatening me after everything I have done to save your life?” She retorted, and seeing her so scared and flushed amused me.

You’d swear she thought Rafael would split her in half and feed her remains to the birds. Her hands and feet were probably cold.

She was suddenly speechless after she told Rafael that he could kill me, and she would mourn, just as she had mourned for Narra.

“What have you done for me, Mother?” I scoffed. “Weren’t you the one who told Rafael to kill me along with his child? Do you know what he would do to you for even suggesting such a vile thing against his own blood?”

“How will you convince him the baby is his when you told him Chris was the father? Don’t you think you set fire to your own head?” She chuckled. “So, what are you going to do when you find out the baby is actually Chris’s child? You’ve been whoring around with him before you married Rafael.”

“I’ve been in Rafael’s bed not twice or three times. He wouldn’t deny it if I told him the baby was his, but you would be punished for deceiving him.”

My heart pounded as her face, once content, twisted with anger, followed by an unsettling jumble of expressions. She feared Rafael with her life, and I was going to make her life hell since I knew her weakness.

“Aneira—”

“No,” I cut her off. “Under no circumstances should you say my name. You are a heartless monster, and I will ensure that Rafael punishes you for what you did to me. I will be in the front row when he burns you alive. Your screams will be music to my ears, and I will cherish that moment even in my sleep.”

“You’re ungrateful, Aneira, just as your father was.” Her eyes became teary, and I almost laughed because I had never seen her being emotional. Well, not in front of me, at least.

“You were attached to him, though he abused and neglected me in front of you,” she continued. “But if Narra were in your shoes, she wouldn’t have said such things to me when I was the one who fed you when your father was out gallivanting with women and drinking alcohol. But because you wanted nothing to do with me, you ignored everything he was doing to me.”

I almost felt sorry for her, except that she never liked me, even before I got close to my father. She preferred Narra to me and never tried to fix our relationship.

“I don’t care what you say, Mom. You killed my father when you gave him away to Rafael, and I won’t forgive you. You sold me to him and blamed me for my sister’s death, so I will be trapped in this marriage. But tomorrow, you will be punished for all you’ve done to me, and that’s a promise.” I turned to the door, slammed it behind me, and went to my room.
