Chapter 589

Chapter 589

Christina was at her wit's end and couldn't keep her cool while talking to Sebastian anymore.

She knew she might be taking her anger out on him unfairly.

But so what? Estelle had been kidnapped, and even if Sebastian wasn't the one who did it, it was still because of him.

No matter what, Estelle's safety was the most important thing.

Just as Christina was about to break down and beg, a faint voice reached her ears.

Her face changed, and she took large, stumbling steps toward the source of the sound. She reached a small hollow and froze at the sight before her.

"Estelle."

In a water-filled ditch, Estelle stood there, drenched and covered in mud. Her bright eyes were now dull and lifeless.

Christina ran over like a madwoman and pulled Estelle into her arms. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I didn't take good care of you. I'm so sorry. I'm here now."

Seeing Estelle's flushed face and her pitiful state, Christina's tears wouldn't stop falling.

When she felt how hot Estelle's body was, her face went pale. "We need to get Estelle to the hospital, now!"

A fever in a child could be very serious.

Estelle had been missing all night.

If she had been feverish the whole time, it could cause serious harm.

Christina tried to lift Estelle, but after a sleepless night, she had no strength left. She failed repeatedly.

Sebastian stepped forward and picked Estelle up, his expression dark. "You go back to the car. I'll handle this."

Christina wanted to take Estelle back, but her legs gave out, and she nearly fell.

Realizing she had no strength left, she let Sebastian hold Estelle.

They were halfway up the mountain, with a long way to go.

Sebastian carried Estelle ahead, but Christina couldn't keep up. Suddenly, Sebastian stopped, ignoring Christina's struggles, and carried her on his back.

With Estelle in his arms and Christina on his back, Sebastian marched steadily down to the base of the mountain.

In the car.

Christina sat in the front passenger seat, wrapped in a towel, clutching Estelle tightly, refusing to let go.

The assistant didn't dare to speak loudly and just kept pressing the gas pedal.

The car sped down the road.

As Christina came to her senses, she stripped Estelle's clothes off and saw the numerous cuts and bruises. Tears streamed down her face.

What had Estelle gone through?

Her body was covered in scrapes.

Neck, legs, stomach, and ankles.

Both shoes were gone, and her socks were muddy, with traces of blood.

Christina's face turned white as she gritted her teeth in anger. "I will find out who did this. No matter who it is, they will pay, even if it's a pregnant woman."

Whether it was Tamsin or Athena, they would pay.

Sebastian sat beside her, his gaze heavy. He gently held her hand. "I promise you, no matter who did this, they will pay. But let's get to the hospital first, okay?"

"Why shouldn't I be scared? Can't you see? Estelle is covered in injuries. Are you blind? Look at her!"

Christina screamed, losing control, showing Sebastian Estelle's wounds.

Sebastian saw the injuries and knew it was serious. His face darkened, and he said nothing.

He just kept urging the driver to speed up.

Meanwhile.

Robert returned to the car, but Sebastian and the others were long gone.

"How heartbreaking."

He had stayed with Christina all night, but when Sebastian kicked him to the ground and hurt his leg, Christina left without a second thought, as if she didn't see him.

He had several chances to call out to Christina but didn't.

Being abandoned felt terrible.

Hestia arrived, saw Robert's injured ankle, and frowned, glancing at the driver.

"Why didn't you take him to the hospital with his leg like this?"

"Don't blame them. I told them not to. I just wanted to stay quiet and show you how heartless Christina is."

Hestia already knew what had happened on the way over.

But to Christina, Estelle was the most important. Leaving with Estelle and not caring about Robert seemed understandable.

Hestia didn't dare say much, clearing her throat. "Let's go to the hospital now. Your ankle is injured, and it's pouring outside. If the wound gets infected, it'll be bad."

Robert silently took out a cigarette, lighting it, his handsome face now icy cold.

He suddenly spoke coldly, "Didn't you say Christina was kind? That even after everything, she still wanted to help people. So why didn't she help me?"

Hestia was stunned, unsure how to respond.

She knew Robert was behind Estelle's disappearance, so his criticism of Christina seemed hypocritical.

The car fell into an awkward silence.

After a while, Robert threw the cigarette out the window. "By the way, Estelle wasn't really hurt. She's fine. Do you think I've gone soft?"

In the past, he would have made sure Estelle disappeared for good.

If he wanted to create a rift, he had to be ruthless.

Only if Estelle was truly harmed would Christina realize her weakness and want to become stronger.

Their partnership would become tighter.

He had considered harming Estelle. He had planned to take her over the mountain to an airstrip, put her on a private plane, and send her abroad through special channels.

Of course, he didn't plan to take good care of Estelle abroad. There were ways to make her earn more money.

Hestia opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.

"Regardless, I hope Estelle stays healthy and happy. She's been through too much. She finally met a kind-hearted Christina. They deserve better."

Not to be manipulated and hurt.

Hestia spoke fearfully, lowering her head, seeing Robert wasn't angry, and continued, "And don't you think people in the sunlight are beautiful from our dark world?"

"Beautiful?" Robert laughed. "The only thing I want to do with beauty is destroy it. I want to make it ugly, just like me."
