RP Chapter 42
RP Chapter 42
“You got everything cleaned up, right?” the man demanded as he stared down the idiots he had forced himself to lead and work with. These idiots were going to ruin everything he had been working so hard to accomplish.
He had first thought they were going to be a good fit for him, they would all have much to gain if this was successful. They seemed more prone to screwing everything up though and it was all going to blow up in their faces if they didn’t get their heads out of their asses.
“Of course, we got everything cleaned up, we aren’t idiots, no one is ever going to find out that were behind this, we’re going to weed out the best agents, as many as possible at a time and then we’re all going to be rolling in so much dough and have our revenge as well.”
He rolled his eyes, they would see about that, he may have to turn on all these ignorant morons and take care of what needed taken care of himself. Then he would be rolling in all of that dough, which was all he cared about, he had just needed them to use their revenge angle for a little bit then the other few only had the get rich fast scheme in mind.
He could feel all this hard work already going up in smoke in his face. And it was very unsettling.
Kacey let out a sigh as she got back on the bike behind Kyle. They had found a total of six bullets. She knew she should have gone with the team when they came. There was no excuse why no one found any of the bullets they had just found.
She could tell Kyle was a little pissed off, not that she blamed him because she was pretty steamed as well. He had already told her they were making a little stop at AS where everyone would indeed get a piece of his mind. They m be getting a piece of hers also.
She held on to Kyle tightly as he zoomed them to AS. She wasn’t sure what she would say but she knew she wanted to say a lot. It was probably better to let Kyle say it all, he would make sense, she could see herself making no sense as she would spill her guts. She shut the so many hurtful thoughts away and began to think of a plan to actually catch these as holes.
Donny and herself could play bait as long as Kyle, Shawn, and Davis were on the side along with Cunningham and possibly Agent Cooper, all of them would have to be on their A games along with herself and Donny. She smiled to herself, it could work as long as Shawn and Kyle agreed to it.
Maybe it was time for a different career, one that the few men she had in her life didn’t always feel like she needed a babysitter. She was fine up until all hell had broken out around them the last few weeks, but she knew her brother and the Davenports, they were never going to stop worrying even after all of this was over.
So many decisions needed to be made but they couldn’t be until she solved this case. She gripped Kyle harder as he turned quickly and the tall glass building filled Kacey ’s eyes. She took a deep breath, this was it. She climbed off the bike as Kyle shut it off and kicked out the stand.
As soon as he was off the bike he gripped her hand tightly. She let him practically drag her to the entrance of AS, she didn’t dare make a peep at the moment, not that she was afraid of the man, but she knew how upset he was and knew it was better not to say a word.
As soon as they were inside they were met with the hustle and bustle of their coworkers. Kyle stopped so abruptly that Kacey had to press her hand against his back so she wouldn’t run smack dab into it. Kyle turned back to her slightly, cupper her cheek gently. “Sorry, baby, you okay?”
Kacey nodded her head a little and instead of a lecture, Kyle turned back to everyone running around. She took a deep breath, holding it as the loud outburst rumbled through her.
“Everyone is acting like a chicken with their heads cut off, but what I want to know is, why? Y’all act like you found something, but how’s that possible when everyone came up empty at the factory? So, I want to know what’s going on and now!”
“Like you have any authority to ask any questions or demand anything from any of us,” the whiny voice interjected sounding more snotty than usual.
Kacey gripped Kyle’s hand and wrist tightly, hoping she could at least try to save him his job by touching him to keep him calm.
“Oh, but he does have the right, as lead investigator on this, no one else has really fit the bill, he’s probably the most determined agent right now.”
Kacey ’s gaze snapped from Herz to their boss, he just made Kyle the lead agent, over Shawn, Davis, every other agent who had been there for decades. She wasn’t too shocked by it, but it was still crazy.
She felt Kyle yank her forward. “As lead agent I would love to know how all the stuff we found was missed during the first search at the crime scene, Kacey, the stuff please.”
She hurriedly pulled out the bag of evidence they had found.
Kyle took it from her. “That was a pretty shitty investigation, especially for my brothers and Shawn, it’s very unacceptable and Kace and I are going to the lab, I expect everyone who was involved in looking at the scene to be down there in five minutes.”
Kacey let out a yelp as Kyle turned them to head down to her lab, but she went with him, almost running to keep up. She let out a breath as they finally reached her lab and Kyle slowly let go of her hand. She waited until he gave her any instructions.
“All right, babe, you know what to do, let’s solve this.”
Kacey nodded and got the bag of bullets they had found then pulled on a pair of gloves. Her hands trembled a little as she began to take the bullets out of the bag. She began to set everything else up and began to examine the bullets under the microscope.
Her mind whirled her to other prior cases in a flash. She wasn’t recognizing any of the patterns and she cursed under her breath. This was ridiculous, who was behind all this bullshit?
She grabbed another bullet and examined it, her heart froze just as her brother, Davis, Donny and Agent Cooper filed into her lab. The pattern was familiar, it had been used on a suspect, the suspect had lived, and the agent had been suspended until she had solved the case, and that suspect was convicted and still in prison to this day.
