RP Chapter 43

RP Chapter 43
Kyle’s deep voice shattered her train of thought. “So, four of our best agents were on this site and yet you all failed to retrieve any of the bullets we did, they weren’t even that hidden, I’d like know why it ended in failure.”
Kacey couldn’t help but glance at Kyle, his usually smooth face obscured by the deep pissed off look. She swallowed hard, there wasn’t anyone in this room going to be happy with what she revealed, hell she wasn’t happy. If they didn’t act fast AS would more than likely cease to exist as they knew it.
Kyle turned toward her and she locked eyes with him quickly. “Yes, sir?” she asked timidly, she couldn’t help but want to smack the smirk off his face, but she held back.
“Do you have anything to share, Kace?” his tone had changed from the harsh asshole to gently with her.
Her stomach bubbled with the butterflies, but she fought the smile. “No, not yet, sir, this might take a while but as soon as I have something you will be the first to know.”
Kyle gave a curt nod and turned to the others. “What excuse do you all have? Two of our own are being attacked, and I don’t see very much effort being put forward to make it stop.”
Kacey didn’t bother listening to any of the conversation, she drowned them all out as she continued to examine the other bullet patterns, along with making a well thought out plan to hopefully get out from under Kyle’s radar to catch this jerk although it was jerks she needed to catch. She was sure it was this one pulling the strings.
She had to stop this, she glanced at Donny who made eye contact with her right away. He already knew she was up to something. She nibbled her bottom lip as she looked away from her best friend. Who was she kidding? She would never get away with any of this. If Kyle wouldn’t make sure, Donny definitely would.
She let out a little sigh and continued to work.

Once Kyle had heard enough of the bullshit excuses, he made everyone leave the lab. He was fit to be tied with them, his brothers, his best friend, Agent Cooper, even Cunningham. The display they had acted in today was distasteful and ridiculous.
He went to turn to Kace when his arm was grabbed quickly. “We need to talk, Kyle.”
Kyle met the eyes that mirrored his own. “What, Donovan?”
“Be quiet, Kyle, we need to talk, in private.” Kyle followed his baby brother’s gaze with his arm. It dawned on him quickly, Donovan had to tell him something about Kace. Great.
Kyle followed Donovan to just outside the lab, he folded his arms tightly over his chest. “All right, let’s hear it.”
“Kace is planning something, she already knows who’s behind all this, she figured it out after examining the second bullet it seemed, but, Ky, you have to believe we searched that factory with a fine tooth comb, none of those bullets were in there, I swear, you know me better than that, hell all of us for that matter.”
“Yeah, I know, something is not adding up and I’m not liking it, maybe one of the four is setting the other up to take the fall, but why let Kace and me find what we found, granted it wasn’t everything, she knows they fired more than what we found.”
“Because they knew she would examine the evidence, she can’t help herself, it’s in her blood for some reason and she thinks she can be sneaky, maybe if I hadn’t known her for twenty years now it would be a different story, but I know all her tell signs and she’s not going to sneak around us,” Donny’s gaze went to the doors. “We can’t leave her alone for even a split second when there is another exit, she’s going to try to make a break for it, lure which ever jerk she can out to get her, Ky, she’s been through enough already and that’s a lot of my fault, I should have prepared everyone better but I was given orders and I thought they were right to follow, but I was wrong and I’m so sorry.”
Kyle let out an aggravated sigh. “Yeah, a lot of this is your fault, but the main person at fault is the one who gave you the task and asked you to hide it from your teammates, Donny, they were wrong in lacing you in such a predicament and they aren’t going to like me when I find out who it is,” Kyle placed a tender, brotherly hand on Donny’s shoulder. “I promise I’ll keep an eye out for Kace, she means a lot to us, and I just got her, I refuse to lose her already.”
“Even if you weren’t with her, Kyle, you’d still do all of this, you love her and have for a very long time, but you two are good together, I’m glad it’s finally happened, keep close to our girl, I’m going to tell Shawn, Davis and Cunningham.”
“See you later, I’ll have my phone on me so if there is any news, please share it.”
Donny nodded his head briefly then turned to leave while Kyle headed back into the lab. Now he had to get it out of Kace what she was up to. Shouldn’t be too hard, although when it seemed absolutely necessary she took the punishments. He ran a hand over his weary face, he was mentally exhausted, and he could only imagine how Kace felt. He shook himself awake a little and headed back into the lab.
He couldn’t help but shake his head as his gaze landed on the woman he fell in love many years ago. The little scowl evident on her face every time she was deep in thought or lost in a moment that she couldn’t control to be lost in, the nibbling of her full bottom lip when she was up to something. Massaging her right temple as she tried to make sense of something. Yeah, he knew all of them. How could he not? He had paid so much attention to her, and he would never stop.
He slowly headed up to Kace and placed his hands on her hips. “Okay, babe, what’s going on?”
She jumped a little, but he gripped her hips tighter, just to remind her he had her submission and that he wasn’t going to back down this time. In the lab be damned, he’d take her over his knees in a flash.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Kyle, really I don’t.” Kace glanced up at him, but those beautiful teal eyes were lying to him.
“That's strike one, Kace, and I believe that’ll be five for your ass,” Kyle turned her to look at him fully. “Do you want to try again or are you going to go for more?”
