Chapter 109

He's still calling you."

Jaden Gabe held her waist tightly. She winced and removed his hand.

"Just a moment, love..."

"I'll just put it on silent." He pinched her straight nose. "And stop for a while, take a deep breath. Breathe when you have time."

Jaden Gabe didn't say anything.

He placed his cell phone on the bedside table. It was on silent mode because otherwise, the battery might run out from Judas' constant calls. He couldn't understand why his friend was so eager to talk to him.

He told Judas that he would call back later, but the latter was still persistent. He said he wanted to talk to him. He claimed it was important, so he needed to meet up. But he wasn't in the mood to see him or even talk to him.

He was too tired and lazy to pay attention to his friend. Jaden Gabe was beside him now, and they had just finished. He couldn't leave the mansion; his joints were still sore.

He noticed that Jaden Gabe was looking at him seriously. "Are you jealous?"

He didn't answer, but he hugged her tightly. His hand was on her waist again. They were only covered by a blanket. He had just made it up to her.

What happened earlier was hotter and more passionate than before. He didn't feel the pain when he claimed her again, but he felt the ache in his body after the action. Now, he felt like he couldn't stand up right away.

He accepted what it was. He accepted that they were not of the same kind. But what mattered was that they both felt the same way, and that was the most important thing.

"He said he wants to talk to me," he pointed out to Judas.

"For what?" It opened its eyes and looked at him intently.

He shrugged. He noticed that its mood had changed. Jaden Gabe's eyebrows were furrowed, and its lips were tightly pressed together.

"You're really jealous," he said with a smile.

"What's so funny about me being jealous?" Its forehead furrowed even more when it saw his smile.

"Nothing. You just look handsome when you're jealous."

"Should I be jealous all the time to look handsome in your eyes?"

He reached for its smooth cheek and pinched it. "Even if you're not jealous, you're still good-looking, my love." He said with a teasing tone. "See? So handsome."

"You're good at sweet-talking." It still didn't smile, but he could see the sparkle in its eyes.

He chuckled and snuggled against Jaden Gabe's firm chest. "Don't be jealous."

"I'm not." Its hand was now on her back, making its own movements that sent shivers down her skin.

It felt like a fire was ignited. Even though they had just finished, the heat from earlier was still burning between them.

Jaden Gabe smiled. "What do you want, my love?" Its hand was now between her thighs, teasing her.

"Shall we make a baby again?"

It just groaned and leaned on her again.

They weren't making a baby. It was being careful. But the idea of a baby was a good plan for their future. And they both agreed on that.

"How many triplets are we going to have, my love?"

"Three sets, my love." He answered with a smile.

"Let's make it five, you're still bargaining."

Pearly's laughter was drowned in Jaden Gabe's deep and intense kiss. In just a few moments, the room was filled with moans and soft sighs.

"Do you need anything?" Helios turned slowly from the glass window. He immediately knew that Jaden Gabe had entered the room.

He didn't knock; he just entered the study room.

Helios was wearing a black polo and black pants. His hair was wet, probably from the rain. His green eyes were fixed on him.

It was eleven in the evening when he felt Helios' presence and the arrival of his car in the mansion's lawn. He left Pearly in the kitchen, preparing a midnight snack. His girlfriend was hungry, so he let her eat and regain her strength. He also needed to talk to Helios. He needed to clarify and learn something from him.

Jaden Gabe sat on the La-Z-Boy armchair facing the man. Helios nodded. He noticed that their father's aura was different now, the cloudiness in his eyes was gone. It seemed like he was enjoying whatever he was busy with. He just hoped his assumption was wrong.

"Is this about Pearly?"

Jaden Gabe's mind returned to his purpose. He cleared his throat. "Helios, I need your help."

"Really?" Helios looked at him amused. "Interesting."

"Tell me how... I mean, how can I..." he paused when Helios furrowed his brow.

In an instant, Helios entered his mind—a thing that only the Vox family could do. They could enter each other's minds and also close their minds to each other. They could also refuse. They could also close a mortal's mind so that a vampire couldn't enter it. Just like what he did to Pearly when she was still a child.

He closed her mind's gateway so that no one from their kind could read Pearly's thoughts. They all agreed on that, the majority of the Vox family approved to give their new family member privacy. So since she lived in their mansion, no one from their kind could enter or read her thoughts. No vampire could read Pearly's mind.

'You want to have a baby with her?' Helios' voice echoed in his mind.

They were talking in Helios' mind. Their minds were closed to others.

Lander or Criss wouldn't know their topic.

Jaden Gabe nodded slowly.

The other new turned vampires or 'recruits' from Euria's blood also had the ability to read a mortal's mind, but not a fellow vampire's. They also had the ability to communicate telepathically, but in a limited way. Both vampires needed to want to connect with each other, the desire to communicate telepathically had to be mutual. One of their weaknesses was the quick exhaustion after using telepathy, especially if the conversation was with a distant vampire.

'You know it's not possible.'

He clenched his fists. He heard the bones in his hands crack.

'You can have her, but you can never impregnate her. You can't have a child, you know that.'

'But I want to give her at least one.'

'You are a freakin' vampire, my son. We are immortals. Our kind can not —'

We can! I can. What do you call the three of us?'

Helios' eyes darkened.

'You got our goddamn mother pregnant! The three of us were born from Lander and Criss in the world. So I can—'

'That's a different story.' He took a deep breath. He loosened his tie. 'No one from Euria's family has ever produced a child except her. You know that vampires cannot have children.'

'But you got Euria pregnant!'

'Only because she was the fated one. She was destined to bear my sons.'

'There must be another way...'

'There's no other way.'

He felt disheartened.

'Another thing, if Pearly gets pregnant, she will die. Her body won't be able to carry an immortal child. She's not like Euria, who had vampire blood from me since the beginning. Only your mother was given a unique opportunity to bear an immortal from me.'

'She will die?'

'Yes. Because Pearly's body won't be able to carry your child. She's mortal. She's weak. She's not one of us.'

He fell into deep thought.

'Don't ever think about it.' Helios said sternly. 'If you turn her into our kind, she still won't be able to bear a child. Vampires cannot have a baby. You'll just ruin her life.'

He stood up.

Helios approached him. He spoke out loud. "Jaden Gabe, I understand why she wants to have a child. She grew up without a real family. She would want to be normal. To start a family because that's the ordinary dream of people like her. If she becomes like us, she won't be able to fulfill that ordinary dream."

"I'll go back to her." He said without strength.

"She has a great future ahead of her." Helios patted his shoulder. "Think about it carefully."

As he left the study room, he immediately saw Pearly coming up the stairs. She had a wide smile on her face.

"Love!"

Even though he felt heavy-hearted, he forced himself to smile at her.

"Wow, I'm full. Why did it take you so long to come back to the kitchen?"

She ran to him. She hugged him tightly.

"I love you!"

"I..."

"Hmm?" Her smile was so sweet as she hugged him.

"I love you, too..."
