Chapter 134 KONSTATIN'S FAREWELL
Chapter 134 KONSTATIN'S FAREWELL
Isabella tried to keep her eyes open as she walked grudgingly into the private meeting room assigned to her and Lucien.
She'd barely managed to fall asleep when a knock sounded right back on the door, requesting her presence.
She sighed, turned the doorknob, and entered the room. Being queen was more than just the dress-ups, and the mannerisms. Worse, the people expected better from her being the moonlit queen.
“You said you would take care of it.” She accused immediately, a frown settling on her face, not bothering to check if they were alone.
“Do not blame the king, My lady, he tried all he could. I made the requests to see you.” A familiar voice spoke from the far end of the room.
Sleep cleared from Isabella’s eyes as she tried to compose herself. She could recognise that voice anytime, anywhere.
She turned to face him, the queenly look taking its form. “This better be important,” she swore.
Lucien nodded apologetically at her, walking and placing his arms around her waist protectively.
“It is. It wasn't my intention.” His gaze was loving that Isabella immediately felt all anger for him disappear. “He insisted.” Lucien continued, nudging at Konstatin.
Isabella nodded, facing the war Lord and hiding her smile as he matched her stare, a teasing smile hanging by the side of his lips.
He was trying to piss her off, and she was this close to losing it.
“Are you going to tell me why you chose to interrupt my sleep?” She spoke, realising that they would spend the entire day in a face-off if she didn't break the silence.
“Looking as dashing as ever, Lady Isabella.”
Isabella curled her lips. She wanted to correct him. She had been crowned queen, but knew it was useless where he stood. He would always see her as the weak Isabella.
“I know,” she continued. “I think I would look better if you let me go back to my sleep.” She couldn't help the slight irritation in her voice.
“Tsk tsk,” Konstatin chuckled, his eyes going to his side. “I'll be out of your hair in a few minutes.”
His face turned serious, all traces of playfulness gone. “It is time.”
Isabella looked confused as she turned to Lucien for help. She was still new at this queen thingy. “Is there a ceremony?”
Lucien shook his head solemnly as he nodded in appreciation to his friend. “You've done more than enough, brother.”
Konstatin rolled his eyes, patting his sword. “It's a debt. One I intend to collect in full in the future.”
Lucien chuckled, stroking his beard. “Can't wait.”
Isabella narrowed her eyes. “Is any of you going to fill me in, or am I just going to keep on guessing?”
“Damn!” Konstatin chuckled. “You sure are fiery when you lack sleep.”
Isabella ignored him, her expression straight. “What the hell is happening?”
Konstatin shrugged. “It's time to leave.” He said simply.
“Now?” She asked, unable to hide her shock. She had quite a long way to go, masking her emotions.
“Is there a problem? Are the Red Walls in danger?” She rambled, unable to compose herself or hide her shock.
Konstatin chuckled. “Who would have thought the Almighty lady Isabella had it in her to worry on my behalf?”
Isabella snorted, stopping herself from rolling her eyes. “Have all the fun you want.” She hissed lightly, her expression unmoving. “Is everything okay?” She pressed.
Konstatin curled his lips, adjusting his strap bag. “Everything is fine. I've been gone for far too long. The people need me.” He supplied.
Isabella’s head bobbed in understanding. Crestwood was not a place the general could live in. It was calmer now that the dust had settled.
“It's such a shame.” She began. “And I'm assuming, there's nothing that can stop you from making the move then?” It was an attempt she'd learnt over the years.
Konstatin chuckled. “Nice try, Lady Isabella. Won't work on me.” His smile was knowing.
Isabella shrugged. “Doesn't hurt to try.” She leaned in closer to Lucien.
“He's done his as well.” The war general continued, seeing what she was about to do. “Being a couple for far too long is starting to wear on you both.”
He curved his lips, rubbing his palms together. “When I agreed to help Lucien, I didn't know I would become attached to you in this manner.”
Isabella looked taken aback. Konstatin looked like he had something to say, but he hadn't looked like he was going to go through with it.
“Are you trying to poach my wife?” Lucien growled from the side. He wasn't having any of it. A huge frown settled on his face.
“Relax man, she's not your wife. At least, not yet.”
Lucien stepped forward. “Say that again.”
Konstatin hissed gently. “I said what I said, Lucien. Your mate? Yes. Your wife, No.” His voice held a challenging tone to it as though he was daring Lucien.
“Guys,” Isabella’s calm voice shot through the air. “My guess is you didn't wake me up to watch you rival Lucien, did you?” She turned her attention to Konstatin, while her soft palms, gently drew Lucien back to her side.
Konstatin huffed, taking a step back. “You're right.” He admitted. “It would be a damn shame to leave you without a mate to navigate Crestwood.”
She shook her head silently. Dignifying every one of the general's retorts with a response would be doing a disservice to herself.
“And Amelia?” She asked instead, steering the general back to the original conversation.
“C’mon, my lady.” Konstatin guffawed. “I've seen how much she comes alive when she's with you. She belongs here.”
Isabella’s relief could be felt by both men in the room. “Thank you.” She murmured.
Konstatin nodded, waving her thanks. “You surprised me, I must say.” He began, walking towards the door.
“How?” She couldn't help but indulge him, even though she knew where he was headed.
“The battle.” He began, his hand on the doorknob. “Of course, I knew we would win. But you held the fort here and turned things around. There are very few women out there who can do the things you've done.”
Isabella’s heart warmed.
“Your Majesty!” Konstatin nudged Lucien. “Felt nice serving with you, side by side. Stay alive. You owe me a life debt.”
And before either of them could react, he'd gone, his large frame taking the air with him.
“Would never have pegged him for a poet,” Lucien said, breaking the silence which was threatening to swallow them.
“As much as I hate to admit, he would be missed.” She muttered, interlocking Lucien's arms with hers.
“I agree.” His voice was solemn, his head cocking to the side.
“You think the Red Walls are in danger?” Isabella asked, reading his mind.
Lucien's sigh was heavy. “Either that or he's gotten tired of us and needs to explore.”
Isabella nodded, she could feel their shoulders touching. “It would be nice to go back there someday. Perhaps, not as queen.” She added almost immediately.
Lucien could feel the hairs on his body standing. Having Isabella this close to him and her implied talks were making him lose it slowly.
“What do you think?” She nudged him, bringing her body closer. “The raggedness of Red Walls, the thin walls…” she trailed, a mischievous smile on her lips.
He could feel his bulge getting bigger. “Continue and I would have to take you here and now.” He hissed, barely controlling himself.
“What makes you think I don't want you doing that?” Isabella rolled her eyes at him, her voice daring him.
Lucien shook his head, stifling his laughter. She needed him as much as he needed her, and as appealing as she looked, all they both needed was a good night's sleep.
Sex could come the following day. Actually, on second thought, he wouldn't mind eating her up first thing in the morning.
“Say what,” he mirrored her smile. “How about we have a good sleep. You and me,” his pinky fingers drew her close to him.
“Our naked bodies touching each other, no noises and disturbances from the outside world, just us, sleeping.”
“And?” Isabella was not fooled. “There was an addition to it.”
“And tomorrow, I would bend you over and fuck you till you lose your mind.” His raspy voice had taken over.”
Isabella shuddered, curling her legs together. She could already feel the heat coming.
“When you put it like that, how much choice do I have?” She teased, biting his ears.
“Can't believe I'm dripping already.” She murmured, distancing herself from Lucien. “It's going to be a long night.” She grumbled making her way to the door, when Lucien's hands stopped her.
“Not too fast.” He murmured, fastening her on the table, before pushing her panties to the side, widening her legs.
“We can always start now.” He mumbled, dipping his fingers and bringing a fistful of arousal.
Isabella moaned, a guttural sound coming out of her throat, her head thrown backwards, her body inviting him.
