Chapter 124

Kingdom of Aftermoon

Felix Fire and Joaquim Brown

A large portion of the mercenaries had surrendered, and Joaquim arranged for the men to return to their homelands. Some of the lifeless bodies were cremated, while others were packed to be sent back to where they came from.

Joaquim was recovering, as was Arantes in Brown Castle. Finally, there was peace, and everyone could live calmly.

Dirce and her family moved in with the Lord, where they were recuperating and would work once everything returned to normal.

Upon Helton's passing, he left behind several concubines and a wife.

Francesca Flowers refused to surrender and returned to her homeland, the Kingdom of Diamonds, promising to seek revenge someday. However, Joaquim knew she wouldn't do such a thing; there was no longer a reason for the woman to fight or remain there.

King Isau had already set the date for the hearing, which would take place in about two weeks. Felix would wait for the day to ensure everything went well; he couldn't attend but would stand guard until it was all over.

Lucinda was finally happy, despite the turn of events. Her husband had been injured, but thanks to Felix and his sister, everything had gone well. Now, after all that struggle, Lucinda would finally be safe; at least for the moment, there were no more risks of war.

The days passed slowly, and Joaquim organized all the details of the changes.

Helton's concubines would be set free, but if they wanted to stay in the castle, they would have to work as servants—that was the rule.

Joaquim, Lucinda, and the rest of the family would move to the main castle in Springdale. Now, the Lord would have the three castles of Aftermoon; there was a lot of paperwork to be organized.

Lucinda Brown called Felix over for a conversation. Now that everything had calmed down, she could finally ask about her sister Cateline, and find out how things were.

She prepared some snacks with her mother Milenna. Even though she was no longer a peasant, she still enjoyed working and cooking.

The women prepared everything and left it on the table; they wanted to thank all the other wolves too. Joaquim arranged for Felix to take some gifts as a sign of gratitude, as unfortunately, they couldn't form a public alliance—it all had to be kept secret. Felix preferred it that way too because his father would never allow such a thing; humans were declared enemies to him.

The wolves entered the decorated room; the table was filled with treats—savory and sweet pies, cakes, fruits, stuffed bread, candies, and much more. Joaquim's soldiers were also near the table, looking at the immense amount of food; it was for all of them who had fought bravely. They smiled at each other and sat down, beginning to eat.

"Thank you all for coming... I hope you enjoy the meal."

Lucinda said cheerfully. Finally, everything was peaceful. The Lady wore a dark pink dress and an elegant hat on her head. She was glad that everything was well again; her servant stood beside her, smiling. Seeing her mistress content like this lifted her spirits—nothing better than seeing her master happy and the house filled with harmony and peace.

Felix sat down, and all the other wolves joined him. The old wolf Arantes was still very unwell due to the poison, so he preferred to stay in the rest bed.

"Now that everything is settled, finally, I'd like to ask you a favor, brother-in-law... if it's not a problem, I'd like you to take these letters to Cateline. It's been a long time since I've talked to her, and I'd like to start exchanging letters again. I know she misses me as much as I miss her."

Lucinda said, holding some letters in her hand. She seemed to have many things to tell her dear sister. Felix looked at her nodding and replied to the woman.

"Of course... I'll take them with great care, don't worry."

Felix said, smiling. He hadn't imagined he would be so accepted by the humans there; they seemed like part of the family. The other wolves were feeling at home too; everything was perfect, the atmosphere warm and cozy.

Tomas ran his hand through his hair, adjusting it delicately, tossing it back. When he made such a gesture, the muscles in his arm would show. It almost seemed like he was showing off. A few maids were standing there, waiting to serve the men, and he wanted to show himself a bit. After a few moments, he noticed someone watching him. His instinct made him quickly turn to see who it was, and he found Mrs. Josefa with a smile on her face, looking at the young man. She saw everything he did.

The lady seemed to be thinking of something. Tomas noticed the old woman's heart beating fast. He felt awkward, and strange, avoiding looking at her, covering his face with his hand. He didn't want to draw attention to himself, especially from her. He thought a younger human maid would be looking at him, but it was Josefa looking at the werewolf with certain looks. She walked to the table and picked up some sweets, placing them on a plate and taking them to the man.

"How about some sweets, dear?"

She spoke with her trembling voice, always with her cane. The old lady placed the plate on the table in front of Tomas, who looked almost panicked at his friends, who laughed, ridiculing the man. They loved seeing that situation. The werewolf and the old lady wouldn't let that die. They would always remember and torment Tomas for that. Fabrício pretended to cough, tapped his friend's arm, and ended up laughing a bit more along with the others. Tomas stopped looking at his idiotic friends and looked at the lady, saying:

"Thank you, Grandma."

Tomas said awkwardly and stopped looking at the lady in front of him. The maid stood there for a few seconds, looking at the young man from bottom to top. She found him very attractive, and Tomás was. He had a breathtaking body like the others. The long hair was charming. The maid had never seen a man like that before. She even wished she were younger to flirt with the sexy wolf. Soon after, she left, returning to the kitchen.

Felix's friends continued to laugh at Tomas. Their faces were red from laughing so much. Tomas said, eating the cakes:

"Shut up, go eat."

He rolled his eyes, and Fabrício said, still laughing at him

"We'll never forget, you're the grandma."

The others stuffed their mouths with food to stop laughing. They were getting a stomach ache from laughing so much.

Felix, who was talking to Lucinda a little distance away, didn't quite understand what was happening at the end of the table. The men were laughing and having a good time.

"It's good to see everyone getting along."

Lucinda said, watching everyone laugh. Her gaze followed each of Felix's friends. They seemed quite content and happy. After that war, it was perfect. This atmosphere of joy and comfort made the Lady feel very good. She looked back at Felix, saying:

"Well... let me finish telling you the details... I wrote everything in the letters, but I want you to know too."

Felix nodded, waiting for the woman to speak. He rested his elbow on the table, his hand on his cheek, turning his face to the side, looking at the human in front of him.

"A few weeks ago, a pregnant woman appeared... she said she was a distant relative. At first, no one believed her, but we managed to do the test... and, incredibly, she was telling the truth."

Lucinda said, looking at Sandy, who was at the table eating, her belly already big.

Felix looked closely and noticed a certain resemblance between the women, but he couldn't say for sure which. Cateline would be happy to know about this new addition to the family, he knew that.

"I'll tell her that I saw the girl. She'll be happy to know that everyone is well. The family is growing, and it's a blessing."
