Chapter 75 CHAPTER SEVENTY FIVE
EMILY’S POV
“I don’t understand,” I whispered out, shaking my head in disbelief.
“I need to see him.” I gritted out, standing up from the bed I had been laying on.
“You need to rest,” Anthony says, trying to stop me from leaving. “We still don’t understand what the hell just happened. We all could feel your pain Emily, tearing through our brains. That’s not something to just overlook.”
“And moreover, you are still in labor,” Rachel chimed in. “I thought what we needed to do was merge you and your wolf together, but something else seems to be stalling the birth.”
“That’s what I need to tell you,” I say, turning towards Anthony.
“I saw my mother again, and not just that, I actually saw the labs, their cruel experiments.”
“And Roman, I don't know how, but I pulled him into my astral projection.”
“I don’t know why he isn’t waking up since I pulled him out, I need to see him so I can find out what went wrong.”
“Wait.., hold on, wait, Astral projection?” Rachel screeched out, almost slumping over from shock or scientist high. I don’t know.
“That’s a lot of information, this lab, can you describe what you saw?” Castor's deep voice rang out as he came closer now, his eyes with that gleam I can’t explain.
“Right now,” I cried out, ignoring all their questions. “I need to see Roman.”
Roman, was laying on the bed, inside Anthony’s makeshift hospital.
His face was a bit pale, an IV drip connected to his hands.
I ran towards him, touching his face while shaking him lightly.
“Do you think he is stuck in limbo?” I asked, raising my head up towards Anthony.
“My mother mentioned something about that, though I didn't get the chance to really understand what she meant.”
“It’s all my fault,” I cried out, resting my head against an unconscious Roman.
“What if you tried going back?” Anthony asked, glancing at Rachel. “I mean now that you are fully merged, you can try controlling when you astral project like my grandfather did.”
I looked up with a frown on my face, glanced at both Rachel and Anthony who were staring at me.
“Ok,” I whispered, nodding my head frantically. “If it can help me bring back Roman, then I need to try.”
Anthony nodded, before excusing himself.
“This astral projection, how does it work?” Rachel asked me, jotting down in her journal.
“I don’t know,” I replied, intertwining me and Roman’s hands together. “It’s not something I can explain, since I myself don’t yet fully understand it.”
“The concept is really interesting, and I must say, I am tempted to experiment on it further. Would you be willing when all these are dealt with?” Rachel asked me, her sharp blue eyes boring into me.
I shifted uncomfortably, but before I could reply, Anthony came back into the room, his grandfather's journal clutched in his hands.
“Now, my grandfather didn’t exactly leave a step by step guide, so we might have to improvise. But he did state here that if he thought hard about something or somewhere, then boom he was there.”
I raised my eyebrows at that, biting my lips as I read through the journal Anthony handed me.
Breathing out, I laid on the bed with Roman, making sure our hands were laced together. I needed the physical contact to guard me to the spiritual.
“Ok, I think I know what to do,” I mutter, glancing at Anthony.
“We have five minutes, and after that, you need to wake me up so I don’t keep us in limbo or wherever we end up.”
Rachel nodded, preparing the defibrillator and other things she needed.
While Anthony stood by. “You know, I would really like to be pulled into your projection.” He says, “I am curious about what it feels like.”
“I can’t, look what happened to Roman, for now I can’t risk causing more damage.”
Anthony nodded, gazing at me fondly. “It’s not your fault,” he whispered out, “what happened to Roman. And you need to believe you can bring him back ok?”
I nodded my head, before turning towards Rachel. “Is everything ready?”
“Yes it is,” Rachel replied, clutching her journal tightly.
I closed my eyes, trying to will myself to wherever Roman was stuck in.
“Chaira..,” I called out, “I don’t know what I am doing, or even if I can control how I project.”
“Open your mind, now try to tap into Roman’s consciousness, like we did last time.”
I breathe in deeply, linking my hands with Chiara. Together we channeled our energy towards Roman’s mind.
After some time, I opened my eyes, and before I could even do anything, a dark angry wolf was charging at me, its jaw snapped back in an ugly wicked snarl.
My name was the last thing I heard, before the wolf plunged into me, the both of us falling down the high Cliff we had been standing on.
“Emily no…..,” Roman screamed out, jumping over the cliff, his hands extended out to me.
I don’t even remember if I plummeted to the cold water below me, but next thing I was on the Cliff again, the same wolf charging towards me as Roman dashed after, trying to save me.
What was going on?
I don’t understand how or even what Limbo was, but it was nearly like a movie, an horrific one at that, playing repeatedly.
Only this time, Roman was stuck, relieving what must be his own personal horror.
I remember this day vividly, me and Roman had been chased by Rogues wolf, after being banished from our pack.
As the story goes, Roman wasn’t able to save me, so really, I didn't see how I was going to be able to pull him out of this, especially since it starts with me falling to my death.
“You can,” Chiara whispers, coming to stand beside me. We were back in my own consciousness now. “What Roman is experiencing is an event that has already taken place. You need to remember that yourself, change the scenario, that way you can reach into whatever is keeping him stuck there.”
“He has to know it’s not real,” Chiara mutters.
I nodded my head, holding out to Chaira, before tearing into Roman’s consciousness.
How long has it been I wonder.
I prepare myself as the wolf charged towards me again, crouching down a bit to strengthen my stance.
Before the wolf could barrel into me, I dodged it, maneuvering my body to the side. My legs slipped, and I fell back, these time around, letting out a loud scream as I plunged into the cold water.
I sighed out, crouching down again. I don’t know how long I had continuously relieved this scenario, but I needed to make sure this was the last.
Unlike my other astral projections where I was merely observing, this time around, it was like I was also reliving the experience.
I don’t know if it’s because Roman is my mate but it’s unexplainable.
Breathing out, I stared hard at the wolf charging towards me, watching out for its paws.
Before the wolf could hit me, I jumped up, quickly pushing my body to the side. As expected, its paws swiped at me, making me lose my footings but I was prepared now.
I held onto the sharp edge sticking out of the cliff, using all my upper arm strength to hold my body, watching as the wolf fell down the cliff.
“Emily no…,” Roman screamed out, but before he could dive, I screamed with everything I had, hoping to God he actually listened.
Roman leaned onto the cliff, stretching out his hands towards me. I let go of one hand, swinging it upright, while he pulled me up.
Groaning we lay on each other, my mind still processing the fact that it had actually worked.
I laughed out loud, before kissing a very confused Roman as hard as I could.
“Emily.., are you ok?” Roman asked, leaning back from the kiss, before running his eyes all over my body.
“I am fine, and you, are you ok?” I asked, looking at his body drenched in blood.
“Yes, oh thank the moon goddess, I thought I lost you, you can’t imagine how scared I was.”
“I know Roman, listen, we don’t have enough time, we need to leave.”
“What do you mean?” Roman asked, standing up, before gently pulling me up.
“This isn’t real, I mistakenly brought you into my astral projection, and somehow you ended up stuck. Your body is currently laying down at Anthony’s hospital, and the longer you stay here, the longer it is to come back home to me.”
“What?” Roman mutters, looking at me like I had two heads. “What are you talking about Emily?” he asked me.
I frowned, I don’t understand, why was he acting like he didn’t know what I was talking about?
“Look.,” I screamed out as sharp pain stabbed my stomach, cutting me off from what I wanted to say.
“What is it?” Roman asked in panic.
“You need to come back to me,” I clutched his hands tightly, refusing to let go as I was violently shoved back into my body.
