Chapter 69 SEVENTY
ROMAN’S POV
Pain was everywhere, he couldn’t tell where it started, or ended.
Roman slumped against the titled walls in his bathroom, hot water cascading down his body, the hotness a welcome relief to his aching muscles.
He had slept off immediately he came back to his room, his body trying to heal his injuries. Last night was crazy, and he felt overwhelming guilt about involving Richie.
He said a quick prayer to the moon goddess, asking that Richie survives.
After showering, he dressed up, before heading toward the school infirmary.
When he got there, Roman walked around before finding where Richie was.
An unconscious Richie was surrounded by both the school doctors and school security.
Quickly he shifted back, hiding behind a pillar as he tried to listen in on their discussion.
From what he could eavesdrop on, the doctor was explaining to the security about how they found him in front of the infirmary and how critical his condition was since he was shot with a silver bullet.
The last thing he heard was them talking about an investigation, before hightailing out of there.
Quickly he walked towards the school building, he had to alert Mr Castor about the recent developments and what they were going to do about it.
He couldn’t remember if anyone had seen him with Richie last night.
Richie was the next Alpha to a big pack, and Roman dreaded to think of the kind of problems this would bring once Richie's father learns of his involvement.
He barged into Mr Castor class, finding it empty.
The tournament had been postponed till further notice, and Roman knew it had to do with Richie’s injury.
No way was the school going to invite elites from different leading packs around if they had a murderer running about, especially one with a silver bullet.
Roman searched for Mr Castor around the school, with no luck.
He didn’t know where Mr Castor lived, but since he was always around, Roman suspected he was one of the teachers that lived on campus.
He contemplated it for a while, before deciding to go to the teacher’s lodge.
“Hello!!” Roman greeted, smiling at the older lady behind the counter.
“Well!! Hello young man, how can I help you?”
“Uhm, I have some things to discuss with Mr Castor, but he wasn’t in class today. Can you please let him know I am here to see him?”
The lady with the name tag Susan stared at him for a while, frowning, before typing on the system in front of her.
“Oh! I am sorry,” Susan says, “but Mr Castor is no longer with us.”
The smile gradually wipes out of his face as he frowns.
He didn’t really see Mr Castor last night, only his brother Anthony, but Roman was sure he was one of the wolves fighting off his attackers.
So how come he wasn’t in the system?
“Oh ok, can you try Castor…” he frowned, scratching his head as he tried to remember Mr Castor last name.
“Honey, we have only one Mr Castor here, and I can assure you he no longer teaches at this school.” She glances at the computer, before looking at him. “Matter of fact, he quit this morning.”
Every cell in Roman’s brain paused at that, trying to comprehend and understand what he was hearing.
“He what?” Roman shouted, before apologizing sheepishly.
Susan shakes her head at him.
“I am sure they will announce it tomorrow,” Susan told him. “I mean with what happened to that boy, it’s not the first thing on the upper ups mind.”
“What happened?” Roman asked, heart beating wide.
Susan glanced around, before leaning closer to him.
“You boys need to be careful," she says nervously. “Someone got shot last night with a silver bullet, nobody knows what happened, but whoever did this might still be around.”
“Uh uh!” Roman muttered out, acting shocked.
He said his goodbye to Susan, before leaving the teacher’s lodge.
Bringing out his phone, unable to believe that Mr Castor would quit at this crucial moment.
He dialed his number, trying to hold back his screams when the number wasn’t available anymore.
How could he abandon him like this? Roman thought.
Frustrated, he went back to his room, breaking down as everything caught up to him.
If he could, Roman would revise everything that happened last night.
He knew it won’t be long before the school finds out he was with Richie last night, and now, both Brandon and Mr Castor were nowhere in sight.
He was the scapegoat, but Richie, an innocent bystander, had it worse than him.
With that thought, Roman wiped his tears, bringing out his book as he jotted down everything he could remember from last night.
Luckily for him, he still had the phone he stole.
He laid it down in front of him, staring at the phone.
No new message was on it, and he wondered why Brandon wanted the owner to meet him at that location.
Because of him, whatever Brandon had planned to do at the tournament had failed.
So that was at least a win for Roman.
Now the dead man?
Roman wasn’t sure who he was, the man's face had been badly bruised, his head smashed in.
He was sure no evidence of what had happened last night would still remain at the Cave, so Roman didn’t need to worry about that.
Now avoiding a fight between his pack and that of Richi was what he needed to figure out.
The boys' dorm had cameras everywhere, and while Roman and Richie had tried to avoid everyone, he couldn’t rely on that.
Knowing the school, he was sure a camera nobody knows of was installed somewhere.
Two, how does he explain what he and Richie were up to last night.
He could lie that they went to a party, but with the severity of the situation, he would be asked to name those present, which was another problem.
Roman sighed, pinching his eyebrows together as he tried to figure out what to do.
Knocking at his door, prompted him to hide everything, including the stolen phone.
He already knew it was the school security.
That was fast he thought, trying to calm his nerves.
Glancing around his room once more, Roman sighed, before walking towards the door.
Two school guards were standing there.
“Hello!” he says.
“Roman Fisher?” one asked, glancing at him from head to toe.
“Yes that’s me, any problem?”
“We need you to come with us,” the second guard says, squaring his shoulders as if Roman was about to run off any moment.
Roman gently grabbed his jacket and phone, before following them.
They escorted him toward an office he had never been to, before leaving him.
Sighing out, Roman gently knocked on the door in front of him.
“Come in,” a voice calls from the other end.
Gritting his teeth, he walked into the office, taking in the principal, an older menacing looking man he could already tell was Richie’s father, and surprisingly, his own father.
Roman eyes widen at that, before comporting himself at the sharp look his dad gave him.
When had they had the time to call his father he thought, or had they not informed them of the cancellation of the tournament?
Still, only Richie’s dad and his were around, which means they were notified specifically.
He stood at attention, greeting everyone present, before waiting patiently for while he was summoned.
His father stared at him for a while, before playing a tape on the laptop in front of him.
Roman gritted his teeth, his hands clenched tightly as the footage of him dropping Richie at the school infirmary played repeatedly.
He cursed deeply in his mind, while he was shown clearly, Anthony was just a blurry wolf.
Shit!, he hadn’t even thought of the camera being anywhere else.
Before Roman could even say anything.
He was on the floor.
Strong tight hands, strangling his neck.
