Chapter 52 FIFTY THREE
EMILY’S POV
Being able to travel through dreams was still a very hard concept for Emily to digest.
She turned towards Anthony who was walking through the cave, she watched as he turned towards another route, before stopping in front of a door.
“Once I open this door, then you get access to a memory stored inside my head.”
“What memory is that?” Emily asked, confused about what was going on.
Anthony sighed, before pushing the door open. They both watched as another version of Anthony entered behind them, before locking the door.
“I don’t understand, if I am astral projecting, then how come you can see me. I thought I was supposed to be in your dreams.”
Anthony pointed at his second version who was currently shifting the big painting behind the wall. “Naturally, any human won’t be able to tell, but I am not human, and my wolf is stronger than you think. Immediately you entered my consciousness, I could tell that someone else was here.”
Emily glanced towards the second version of Anthony. He was currently bringing out an old box from a safe behind the wall. Emily pointed towards him, “and this version of you, what is he supposed to be.”
“Oh this is real, on this day, I was looking through my grandfather's journal. I was initially looking for something else, before stumbling on his secret.”
They both walked closer to the other version of Anthony, glancing over his shoulders as they read from the journal.
The journal talked about Anthony’s grandfather. He had been sleeping, his thoughts about someone, next thing he knew he was walking through the person’s dream.
He talked about his initial confusion, before getting the hang of it and then learning to control it.
Emily glanced at Anthony beside her, watching as he playfully ran his hands through the other version of him.
“So what are you?”she asked him. If this version is the real you, “then what are you really?”
“Oh me,” Anthony says with a chuckle, “I am just his consciousness. I took on this form to be able to communicate with you better.”
“Will he remember all these when he wakes up?” Emily asked.
“He might not, or he might.” Really all these are pretty new to me, and as you read, grandpa didn’t exactly leave a step by step guide.”
“Right now my body is laying at the pack safe house. Our pack is currently under attack. I need to know if you are behind this?” she asked Anthony.
“Really, the Red Moon pack is under attack?”
“Yes,” Emily says, trying to read Anthony's expression. Even in this dream state or whatever, the man's face was placed in a perfectly carved out mask. Emily couldn’t get a read of what he was thinking.
“I have no idea of any attack on your pack, though I can’t say I am not aware of the recent uprising of the rogues.”
“I don’t understand, I thought you controlled the rogues. You told me you guys have formed your own pack.”
Anthony chuckled, shaking his head. “The same way you have different packs, that is the same way you have different rogues, each with their own different ideas and way of doing things.”
“I myself have had a few run-ins with some of them.” And honestly, they are barbaric, and difficult to deal with.
Emily briefly wished for the time when she was still naive and in the dark about what goes on in her world.
“So this attack on my pack was done by another rogue?” Emily asked Anthony. It just seems so coordinated, and currently, it’s not looking good.
“For what it’s worth,” Anthony says, avoiding her question. “you will always have a home here.”
Emily gasped as an intense shock ran through her, she glanced around wondering what it was. She could feel herself being pulled back.
“I think something is wrong," she told Anthony in panic, clutching her chest.
“No, I think someone is trying to wake you up.” Till next time he says, his words a mere whisper as Emily is violently yanked back into her body.
Emily gasped as she jerked upright, she fell back on the bed, panting as she glanced around. A lot of people were crowded around her, but most importantly, she could see Roman’s worried face and Sheila.
She watched, as Sheila dropped the defibrillator she was holding, before rushing to her side.
“Are you ok?”she asked, I should have let you rest, instead of stressing you.
“What happened?” Emily asked, confused about what was going on.
“You stopped breathing,” Roman told her, clutching her hands in his.
Emily snapped her head towards him at that. “What?” She whispered out, she didn’t know Astral projection means you would stop breathing, she thought she was dreaming at least.
Sudden fear brought goosebumps all over her body. What if one day nobody was there to bring her back, what would happen to her babies?
She needed to get a hold of that journal, she was sure if she thoroughly went through it, she could know more about whatever this was, and how to control it. It was bad enough she couldn’t control her wolf, now this?
“It’s going to be fine,” Roman says, rubbing her hands soothingly.
Emily glanced at him, he looked thoroughly exhausted. He had a bandage on the side of his tummy, he was bare chested, so Emily could see the recent scars and injuries on his body. Some were in the process of healing, Why some would leave a permanent scar.
She knew she had to talk to Roman privately about this new development of hers, but for now the welfare of the pack was more important.
“What’s going on outside?” she asked, “is the fight over?”
Roman sighed, before nodding his head. “For now everything is ok, but we still need to be on the alert. Everyone will stay at the safe house today for precaution, and then by tomorrow we will go back to our respective homes.”
Emily nodded her head, before glancing at Sheila in gratitude.
“My babies, is everything alright with them?”
“Everything is fine. Stop worrying and just focus on your health, when we get out of here, I need to have a proper checkup on you.”
Emily smiled, she didn’t know how to even explain that what happened was because of her new found abilities. She knew Sheila would try to find out why her heart suddenly stopped working, for now she would let her, maybe one day she would be fully able to tell her everything.
Murmuring distracted them. Roman stood up, helping Emily who was struggling to sit up.
Alpha Castor stood at the center, littered in injury. I am grateful to our warriors who have fought tirelessly beside me, his tired voice resonated through the room. I am also extending my condolences to the family of those brave warriors who died today, and those still fighting for their lives.
An attack was launched at us today, and why we might have succeeded in pushing the enemy back for now, we need to prepare better for their return. For now a curfew will be placed on the pack, any one who disobeys, will be seen as a threat.
Loud murmurings filled the house, everyone speaking over themselves.
Silence! Alpha Castor bellows, his steely gaze filtering through the room.
The murmurings quietened down immediately.
We have a spy among us Alpha Castor says, breaking the deafening silence.
“I will find out who you are, and when I do, you will wish for death.” His gaze ran through everyone gathered, his piercing eyes meeting that of Emily’s.
He stared at her for a while, before marching out of the safe house.
