Chapter 40 CHAPTER FORTY ONE
EMILY’S POV
Emily jolted awake, her hands automatically going to her neck. That man she thought, he had said he was her uncle before she blacked out. Her eyes widen as she takes in the unfamiliar room she was in.
What! She mutters quietly, as she looks around. She was in a dimly lit caved style room, the hard rocks, beautifully carved with different drawings on it. Emily glanced around, taking in the modern design of the room. Cool air comes in from the open windows, where white thick curtains hang from. She takes in the chair pushed to the corner of the room, a large center table in front of it.
Finally she glances at herself. She was laying on a large bed, white covers, polling around her body. Emily lifts off the covers, grateful that she was still putting on her dress from last night.
She walks towards the open balcony, gasping in shock at the sight before.
It was very obvious that she was in a cave, up in the mountains. She peered down at the ocean water, crashing dangerously against the sides of the cave. Where was she?
Whoever brought her here, had taken their time, probably years to turn this cave into a modern fashion house.
“Beautiful view right?” Emily turns sharply at the voice behind her, stepping away from the balcony.
“Yes,” she says, glancing around, very beautiful indeed.
She takes in the slender man in front of her, without needing to be told, she could tell he was related to Camille, he bore a striking resemblance to her.
“Who are you,” she asked, "why did you bring me here?”
The man walked forward, peering down at the crashing waves. He stared at it for a while, before turning towards her.
“My name is Anthony Kinsley,” and I am sure you know who I am.
“I have heard of you guys,” the Kinsley brothers. Everyone just assumed you guys were dead, not hiding out inside a mountain.
Anthony burst out laughing, “hiding?” He says, “no not hiding, just working and watching undercover.”
“We know about you Emily,” Camille never stopped communicating.
Emily was stunned at that. Had Alpha Castor been aware that Camille was still communicating with her brothers?
“What do you mean?” Emily asked Anthony.
Anthony smiled, he peered down the balcony, silent for a moment.
I don’t know what version of the story you heard, he says. So many versions had been passed down, each version distorting what happened.
We had attacked the Red Moon pack because it had originally been ours.
Emily snapped her head towards him, shocked. She kept quiet, waiting for him to continue.
My father and Daniel, Alpha Castor father, had been friends. My father had been next in line for the Alpha position. While Daniel was supposed to be his Beta.
On the day of his coronation, Daniel, who had secretly been gathering guards, and some of the council to his side, challenged my father for the position.
Mind you, as at that time, the Alpha position could be challenged. Whoever won the fight, would be the next Alpha.
Daniel had the upper hand a bit, he had purposely made my dad vulnerable before attacking him. They fought violently, while the pack members fought amongst themselves, each picking their own side. Eventually, Daniel won, kicking my father and those that had supported him out of the pack.
My father had sustained serious injuries. It didn't take long for him to succumb to them, and not too long, my mum, unable to take the heartbreak from losing her mate, followed after him.
All these while Camille was still a baby, and nobody really told her the truth of our heritage. Something we deeply regret as it had driven her to her death.
Camille was blessed by the moon goddess, we didn’t notice it early, but with time we did. We planned our attack for years, waiting for the Red moon. Unfortunately nothing went as planned.
Emily stared out at the large expanse of ocean water, briefly wondering if it ended somewhere, or just flowed without any end.
Camille found her mate right? She asked Anthony, turning towards him.
Anthony, sighed. Yes he says, chuckling. The moon goddess surely has her own way.
We had prepared, waiting for that day. We attacked like we had planned, Alpha Castor had just buried his father, and we had attacked hoping to weaken them a bit. We succeeded, before retreating. We had left an injured Camille there, a spy to report back to us.
After getting all the information we needed, we attacked again. We had the Red moon advantage, everything was going well, till Camille found her mate.
It’s funny that out of everyone, it had to be Alpha Castor.
“We retreated back,” Anthony continued, migrating through different parts, before finding these caves.
“The Kingsley brothers?” Emily asked him, what happened to your brother.
Anthony smiled at her. Castor is alive and well. Currently, he is away on a business trip, but should be back in three days.
Emily nodded her head, shivering slightly from the cold air.
“Are you cold?” Anthony asked, taking note of the goosebumps covering her arms. Without waiting for an answer, he leads her back to the room.
Emily sighed out in relief, rubbing her hands together to create a faster warmth into her body.
She watched as Anthony went to the fireplace, stacking more woods to the already lit ones.
“This place,” Emily says, marveled at how beautiful it really was. She knew the dedication that would have gone into it. “How long did it take to turn it into what it is now?”
Anthony took his seat on the Couch, before parting the seat next to him. “Years,” he says simply.
“It’s our own safe haven.” later,” I would show you everywhere properly.”
Emily nodded, before taking the seat beside him. She folded her hands over her chest, her mind wandering towards Roman, She knew how worried he would be.
“Your wolf,” Anthony asked her, “I heard it was suppressed.”
Emily nodded, not even surprised that he was aware of that fact. She suspected he knew about everything consigning her.
He rubbed his hands over his chin, thoughtfully. By now, you should start hearing from your wolf.
“I do,” I just can’t properly communicate with her.
Anthony glanced down at her protruding stomach, smiling softly. Before staring intently at her, a very serious look on his face.
Emily he starts, the tone of his voice making her sit upright. There was something about the way he was looking at her, that made her heart thump faster. She stared at him worriedly, waiting for what he wanted to say.
We need to find a way to connect you back to your wolf. You need to be fully complete, before you give birth he says, otherwise your life and that of your babies, are in grave danger.
