Chapter 26 CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN
EMILY’S POV
Emily opened her eyes, frowning at the sight of Sheila leaning down towards her face, a touch light in her hands as she shined it directly on Emily’s eyes.
Ow!! get that away from my eyes she said, shielding her eyes from the light.
She’s awake, Sheila said, turning towards the people in the room.
Emily turned her head, surprised at the faces looking at her. She takes in her surroundings, noting that she was in the pack’s infirmary, Roman, Alpha Castor, Owen, and some other unfamiliar faces were there.
“What’s going on?” she asked, as she glanced at Roman.
“You passed out,” Sheila said, checking Emily’s pulse.
“Oh,” Emily said, blushing in embarrassment.
“I don’t know what happened," Emily said, trying to sit up. One moment I was lost then the next, Chaira, was running through the forest.
“Chaira?” Roman asked, coming closer to her, his gaze filled with worry.
Emily blanched, remembering that she hadn’t told anyone about Chaira, her wolf. She felt it was too soon and hadn’t felt the need to tell anyone till she was ready. But now, Chaira was talking over her body without permission.
She glanced around the room, uncomfortable with the faces glancing at her.
Oh, it’s nothing she said, dismissively. She wasn’t about to talk of her wolf in front of Alpha Castor.
As if sensing her discomfort, Alpha Castor excused himself, Owen, making sure she was alright, before leaving with the rest.
Emily sighed, relieved with the familiar presence of Roman, and Sheila.
“So!! Who is Chaira?” Roman asked, refusing to drop the subject.
“My wolf,” Emily says, wringing her hands together. She takes the water Sheila offers her, drinking sloppily from it.
“Since when did you start talking to your wolf?” Roman asked, folding his hands over his chest.
“Just recently,” Emily says. I didn’t want to say anything, till I was sure it was my wolf and nothing else.
“Ok,” Roman said, nodding his head. “What happened?” Because the whole pack is in turmoil right now.
“What?” Emily said, confused. Did something happen when I was out?
“It’s more like you happened,” Sheila said, coming to stand beside Roman. An action, Emily didn’t miss.
“Your wolf, when it howled, everyone felt it. I mean deep inside our soul, every member of the Red Moon Pack. We actually thought our Alpha was in trouble, from how painful that howl felt. We ran towards where the sound was coming from, only to find you passed out in Alpha Castors hand.
Whattttt Emily spluttered out, confused. “What do you mean?” she asked, her eyes flickering between Sheila and Roman.
I don’t know what it means, Sheila said, maybe you should ask your wolf, now that you can finally speak to it.
Hum!! I don’t exactly speak to Chiara, but she speaks to me whenever she feels like it. I don’t know how to reach her.
Roman sighed, coming close to her, before hugging her. His hands run down her back in a comforting manner. It’s ok, you don’t need to stress yourself. I am sure we will figure all this out, he says.
Emily hugged him back, his familiar scent, wrapping around her in comforting warmth.
“Oh, I forgot,” Sheila said. We found this. I guess your wolf wanted you to find it, maybe that’s why she took over.
Emily raised her head from Roman’s shoulder, pulling back as she took the old wooden box from Sheila’s hands.
“What’s inside?” she asked Sheila, looking at the box.
“We don’t know, nobody has opened it.” Sheila said, sitting down on the chair close to Emily.
Emily, shaked the box, before slowly opening the box. Inside was a ton of different things. Old ribbons, hair clips and random other stuff. She sighed, so Chaira, had gone through all this trouble for junk?
She paused, pulling out an old picture. She looked at the picture, a younger Alpha Castor was standing in front of the large red house, an older woman with a glaring resemblance to her standing by his side, while a little girl stood between them, an old doll in her hands.
Emily gasped, running her fingers over the picture.
“What is it?” Sheila asked, standing up as she came closer towards Emily. She took the picture from her hands, her eyes running over it.
“That little girl,” Emily says, “she looks a lot like me right?” she asked Roman, who had collected the picture from Sheila, his gaze hard as he stared at it.
Wow, Sheila muttered, going through the remaining things in the box. She picks up a bangle, Emily Snow Red, boldly written on it.
“I think it’s you,”Sheila says, showing Emily the bangle.
“Are you related to Alpha Castor?”Sheila asks, her eyes lighting up.
“I don’t know,” Emily responded.
Roman took the bangle, pictures and everything, putting them inside the box, before closing it.
Emily and Sheila both turned to him, confused with his actions.
“What is it Roman?”Emily asked, as they watched him pace back and forth.
He stopped his pacing, his hands on his waist as he looked at her.
“We can discuss this later,” Roman said firmly. for now you need to focus on your health and the babies. If Chiara is taking control over your body, then you have bigger problems.
“You say that like you know this Chaira,” Sheila said, crossing her hands over her chest.
Roman sighed, before expertly changing the subject. “How would I know, someone that’s just showing herself?” He asked, glaring at Sheila.
I am just saying that it’s time we help Emily strengthen her mind. A lot comes with sharing your mind with someone else, you need to set boundaries if not, nobody knows where Chaira would take you and our babies too next. Roman said, in anger.
Emily blushed, while Chaira snickered in her head.
Look at him Chaira says, acting like our father. With his big head, and those sexy eyes and lips, she sighed dreamily, making kissing sounds in Emily’s mind.
Emily burst out laughing, clutching her stomach as she laughed loudly. She paused, snickering as Sheila and Roman stared at her.
I am so sorry she said, it’s just Chaira, in my head.
Roman gritted his teeth, you see he says, pointing at Emily who was still trying to hold in her laughter. This is what I am talking about, boundaries, very necessary.
Sheila shakes her head, her eyebrows raised as she observes how agitated Roman was, almost like he was trying hard to hide something.
Roman, I am sorry Emily says, I understand what you are trying to say, and I want to be able to control Chiara. It’s not nice, being in your own body but not being able to do anything.
Roman sighed, rubbing his thumbs over his eyebrows. I am sorry for shouting at you, I just!! He paused, shook his head, and then sat down on one of the chairs closest to him.
“Do you know if Alpha Castor has a sister or something?” Roman asked Sheila.
No, not that I know of she says, her eyebrows pinched together.
Ok, Emily says, then we need to ask Alpha Castor directly.
