Chapter 163 Chapter one hundred and sixty three
EMILY’S POV

I stared at the little wolf chained. it looked like a wolf quite alright, but there was something different about it, something that just screamed how wrong and dangerous Zed really is.

“Emily, I am a simple man, I don’t believe in the torture my father has put you through.” Davies says, walking around the small room filled with weird looking jars, and cages. Different equipment were all over the room, the chirping of birds ringing out through the small room.

I looked away from the wolf, shifting on my seat, my gaze briefly landing on the cuffs binding my hands to the metal chair.

“Do you know why you are here, on this ship?” Davies asked, bending down to stroke the chained wolf.

My gaze lifted up from the cuffs I had been staring at, to settle back on Davies. “I can't say for sure, but I suspect it has something to do with my nature and your obsession with it.”

“Hmm, you are correct. You see Emily, this wolf you are looking at isn’t a natural born wolf. It is in fact an experiment, created by my very own hands. Interesting isn’t it.” Davies explained.

“Why would you do something like that?” I asked incredulously. I mean I knew that Zed had this big notion of creating his own species, weapons. But seeing this in person was beyond anything I thought.

His lips quirked up, into a proud smile. “Because Life is going beyond expectations. The world out there is dying, humanity is becoming weak and very soon nothing will be left. I don’t support my fathers way, but even I can tell it is necessary if humans will continue to thrive. We need to cross breed, take out the part of us that makes us weak, exchange it with parts that make us strong. Evolution is a fundamental part of life, and I have the knowledge and power to kickstart that evolution. Imagine what we could create if we worked together.”

I sat there, badly beaten up, tired and hungry, but most of all stunned beyond measure.

I don't know anything about the human world, but I am sure they wouldn’t be thrilled about this kind of biological engineered evolution. “This is crazy, you are messing with the natural order of life.” I cried out.

Davies pressed his lips into a flat line before turning to face me, an unreadable expression on his face. “Messing with nature is what brought us here in the first place. Look at you Emily, you are a werewolf, that in itself goes beyond nature. It is my duty as a scientist to question why, what makes you special, what makes you different, why do some people get to be a werewolf, born with this incredible ability, why the rest of us are cursed to be human, frail, dying at any slight illness. Why Emily, do you think you deserve to be, and then condemn me when I try to find a better alternative for humans?”

I was speechless. I opened my mouth, closing it back. I can’t question the moon goddess, nor can I properly give an accurate answer to Davies' questions. “ I don't know everything. But I know enough to say that capturing me and the countless werewolves you have, isn’t the best way. Torturing us, killing us as if we don’t matter is cruel and barbaric.”

I turned towards the wolf, staring at it, at how lonely it looked.

Davies walked towards it, making the wolf hide itself further back.

“Like I said, I don’t agree with my father’s method. I believe a gentler approach would have been better, but Emily, humans fear what they don’t understand. I am giving you an opportunity here to work with me, that is the only way I can protect you from my father. What do you think will be your fate, or that of your unborn child when we eventually reach the human world?”

Feeling disheartened, I turned my gaze towards Davies, who was already staring at me. He gave me a warm smile, but I could see it didn’t reach his eyes.

“What do you want, Davies?” I asked tiredly, closing my eyes briefly.

“I am working on something beautiful. I have tried it on my specimen and I have gotten wonderful feedback. But atlas, I must advance to the next level. Now, believe me i tried it on some others, not quite gotten the results I hoped for. Something tells me that you would be the perfect specimen especially since you are different from the others. I want you Emily, I want you to be my specimen.”

“I can’t, I refuse to become an object for you and your lunatic of a father to experiment on. Do you hear, I refuse.” I cried out, struggling against my chair, trying to pry the cuffs away from my hands.

Davies sighed, pacing around the room. “I am trying to be nice, give you a chance to work willingly with me. Think of all we could accomplish.”

“Fuck you,” I spat out. “I don’t care for whatever you want to accomplish. You are no different from your father, and over my dead body before I allow you to turn me to one of your experiments.”

“I see.” Davies whispered, nodding his head. He strode past me, toward the door, mumbling something to the guards outside.

I was breathing harshly, my body shaking at how angry I was.

Davies walked towards me, two hefty guards behind him. He removed my cuffs, while the guards dragged me roughly from the chair, pinning my hands behind me.

Davies cuffed my hands, nodding once more to the guards, before strolling out of the room, the guards dragging me as we walked behind him.

We walked down familiar hallways, passing different hunters who stopped whatever they were doing to stare at me. Finally Davies stopped in front of a door. He swiped a card against the door, before stepping in.

This time around we were on another part of the ship I have never been to. The hallway was brightly lit, metal hitting metal could be heard coming from faraway. I stiffened, my heart pounding as we got closer to where the sound was coming from.

i don't know how to describe it, but all my nerves were on alert, my ears twitching. Something was wrong, I could tell, and whatever Davies had planned, I
Could already tell how painful it would be.

We got to the far end, where a thick glass was. Zed was inside, along with two other scientists working on something that had the legs of a wolf, but the upper part I couldn’t see clearly.

The guards stepped back, pushing me forward.

I frowned, my heart filled with deep sadness I didn’t understand.

At the sight of Davies, Zed smiled, moving away from the specimen strapped on the table.

I walked towards the glass, my gaze focused on the unbelievable sight in front of me.

Half of the body, was a badly damaged wolf. The other half was an upper body, and a wrinkled face that I will never forget.

The specimen turned towards me, the both of us staring at ourselves.

I gasped loudly.

There, strapped to the table as scientists poked at her, badly injured, tired and looking lifeless was my beautiful mother.

Camille Red.
