Chapter 160: Chapter one hundred and sixty
EMILY’S POV
Ice cold water jolted me awake. I gasped and choked as freezing water flooded my mouth and nose. My body jerked up by instinct, only to be stopped by heavy iron chains digging deep into my skin.
I was hanging. Arms stretched high above my head, my toes barely touching the cold wet wooden floor. My ribs were burning in agony with every little movement.
It’s been like this for days or was it weeks now, barely conscious, zed, coming and going, and then darkness.
I blinked slowly, breathing out deeply as I took in my surroundings. I couldn’t see much, but from this position I was in a cell.
Zed was standing in front of me, a big red angry scar running down his left cheek. Behind him, stood a big tall bald guy, still clutching the bucket. He was heavily built, scars lining his thick arms. He looked like a man that takes great pleasure in breaking men down.
No doubt he was the one who had crudely woken me up.
Two other guys were situated at the entrance, that sniveling coward Davis standing a bit farther away, almost clocked by the darkness of the dimly lit cell.
Zed smiled when he saw I was conscious. “Oh finally. I was beginning to think I had broken you badly. I fear I have become fond of you Emily.”
I spat at him, watching in satisfaction as my spit landed squarely on his cheek. I smirked, refusing to shake as cold sank straight deep into my bones. I was putting on nothing, totally stark naked, chained, cold, hungry, badly beaten in front of this monsters.
For all their fear against us, humans were more of a monster than the werewolves they fear so much.
Zed sighed, cleaning his cheeks, while the bald guy stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with malice.
“I see you haven’t changed.” Zed murmurs, walking closer to me.
He stepped back, nodding towards the bald guy.
I watched as the bald guy smirked, moving towards the corner of the room, where a table I hadn’t noticed before stood. My stomach tightened at the sight of knives, hooks, hammer, axe, clamps. I mean, it was filled with every tool needed to break a person slowly and thoroughly.
i watched him as he picked up a silver whip, with sharp edges.
I clenched my jaw, forcing my breathing to stay calm and steady as I mentally prepared myself.
“Do your worst bastards. You are never going to break me.” I sneered out.
“I like that energy, really tough.” Zed mutters, a small smile on his face. He stepped forward, running his hands through my wet hair. “It’s too bad though, everyone breaks, eventually.”
I jerked my hair away from his hands, flinching at the sharp pain throbbing through my ribs.
Zed sighed, his hands folded behind his back.
“Now, i will ask you a few questions necessary for the next level of my experiment. Don’t even think about lying, my friend here will happily use that whip. Moreover, I am still angry about the scientists you killed.”
“Emily, just tell him what he wants to hear. You have your baby to think of, I can't imagine how cold and tired you must be.” Davies says calmly, stepping forward a bit.
“Coward.” I spat out, glaring at him.
Zed tilted his head slightly, studying me. He leaned in closer, voice low. “Let’s start simple. Describe your wolf.”
I held his gaze, a small smirk on my face. “My wolf?” I rasped, my voice raw but steady. “Why don’t you remove these cuffs and find out more about her yourself. Or are you scared, big guy?”
The whip cracked down hard against my back. White hot pain flaring through my body, I laughed like a maniac, trying to hide my pain.
“Is this all you got huh, come on, you have to do better than this.” I spat out, the taste of copper flooding my mouth.
Zed didn’t like that.
The next strike landed on my back, then my ribs, each one more stronger. I screamed, my body shuddering under the assault, blood running down my torso. Every breath I took was constricting, my ribs throbbing with gut wrenching pain.
My vision blurred for a moment, exhaustion creeping in fast. I held strong, refusing to break.
“I don’t want to hurt you Emily.” Zed says softly. “I have great plans for you, and your child. But you leave me no choice when you refuse to cooperate with me, you and your wolf. Now, tell me about your wolf. What makes you different from the other wolves?”
I stared at him, at the childlike expression on his face. Looking at him, one would think he genuinely cared about me, but I know he just wanted information for his sick experiment.
Spitting out the blood in my mouth, I smiled.
More than him, i would also like to know why Chiara has abandoned me since I came onboard this fucking ship. And if not for what had happened a few days back, I would think that maybe this Lunatic Zed had done something to her, but seeing as he was still interested in my wolf still, I doubt.
It’s either Chaira was biding her time, or something was keeping her buried within the confines of my mind.
“My wolf is different from other wolves because we refuse to break, especially not by the hands of a raging lunatic. One day, I will be free of these chains, and best believe, I will take great pleasure in tearing into your limbs, bit by bit.” I growled out.
Zed’s nostrils flare, his hands clenched and. unclenched, his eyes flashing with raw fury. “Fine, I tried to be friendly. You did this to yourself Emily. Maybe next time, you will be ready to talk.” Zed spat out. He glared at me, before turning, marching out of the cell, Davis behind him.
The big bald man threw the whip away, a nasty smirk on his face as he walked towards the table filled with weapons.
My stomach dropped as he grabbed another bucket of water, with a long electric metal rod.
I moved back a bit, the chains restricting my movement.
“No, stop, my baby….” I whispered out, breathing out harshly.
He glared at me, his eyes filled with hatred. And without warning, he poured the water on me, the ice cold water seeping into my open wounds like liquid fire.
He smiled, before pressing the metal electric rod against my ribs.
The gut wrenching pain that flooded my body was immediate.
Every single nerve in my body ignited at once. My vision darkened, my ears ringing, as I screamed loudly. My muscles spammed so violently it felt like my bones were melting, my airways were suddenly restricted.
He pulled the metal rod away from my body for a brief second, and before I could even breathe in, he was pressing it back against my chest.
I screamed again, writhing around, my muscles spamming, tears streaming down my face in waves, blood dripping down my mouth.
It continued on like this, and just when I thought my heart would finally give up, my vision was already darkening, exhaustion slamming into my body as I slowly lost consciousness.
I heard it, like a beautiful soft beacon, slamming through my mind.
“Emily………, can you hear me………..”
