Chapter 149 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY
Chapter 149 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY
ROMAN’S POV
We had set up camp halfway close to the Edmund river. I was currently in my tent with Anthony and Rachel and Sheila who had insisted on following us.
They were right though we needed them in case of injury and whatever conditions we might find Emily and Killian in.
“I have scout out the place.” Castor says, his voice ringing out through the phone.
“Honestly, this is going to be tough. The waves are another problem we might encounter. My men are currently searching everywhere, anything to indicate Emily is somewhere around here.”
“How’s the situation over there?” Anthony asked.
“Strange. There are tents set up everywhere, and boats going out to the deep sea and back.” Castor whispered out.
“Good.” I say, “it means they are not prepared for a fight, and won’t see us coming.”
“Castor please keep looking, it might not be a house, it could even be a camouflage rock, just keep an eye out, Emily is somewhere there.”
“I will, remember, your men have to be discreet, they shouldn’t move out in groups. Do you trust Alpha George to assist with his men?” Cator asked me.
“He has promised he will,” I say, “and from my calculations they should be on their way here.”
“Very well, my ears and eyes are on the ground.” castor says, before hanging up.
I turned towards Rachel and Sheila. This isn’t going to be a friendly war, I might not be able to protect you. I told them.
“Please, you forget I can hold my own in a battle.” Sheila says with an eye roll.
“And I have this?” Rachel says, bringing out a bag filled with guns.”
She handed one to each of us. “Inside, the bullet has been modified. One shot, no matter what part of the body, is all you need, and the poison will do the rest.”
She brought out another huge tank.
“What’s that?” I asked, eyeing the weird tank.
“Wolfsbane.” Rachel says calmly.
“What? Have you forgotten how poisonous it is to us?” I exclaimed, moving back a bit.
“Relax.., I am not stupid. On the contrary, I have found a way to reverse the use of wolfsbane. Mixing it with the saliva of werewolves, which is poisonous to humans, this wolfsbane will attack them instead. All we need to do is spread this in the air, once they inhale it, it weakens them.”
“Wow…,” Sheila mutters, staring at Rachel with admiration. “You are indeed a genius,” she says.
Rachel simply smiled.
“We need to park up, take only what’s necessary. From here onwards, we run.” I told them.
Walking outside the tent, all the warriors were already gathered.
“I know this is sudden, and you were not given time, but you are warriors, prepared to rise up in battle, and we are marching into one. I don’t know what awaits us, and some of us might not make it back home. But today, we not only fight to rescue our Alpha, but we fight against hunters hunting us down like animals. Tonight it’s war, and we must come out victorious.”
“To Alpha Emily.” I roared out, howling at the sky.
“To Alpha Emily.” the warriors chorused, before howling too.
After that we packed up our tent, Rachel strapping some things to the wolf's body.
Her and Sheila will follow slowly behind us. And then they will walk the remaining distance. Rachel will spray the modified wolfsbane which was red in color, and that’s our signal to attack.
I looked at them once more. “Be safe.” I whispered out, before changing to my wolf, moving towards Anthony. Together, with the warriors, we ran with speed, passed trees, straight to the Edmund river.
It started with small, tiny droplets, and soon enough, the sky opens, pouring down its waters of blessings on us.
Hold on Emily….. I am coming for you. I say, slamming my energy with enough force towards the mate bond.
It took hours, but finally we where at the Edmund river.
Everything was silent when we got there, and I gave the signals to my warriors to stay low, using the rocks scattered about as shields.
I turned back to my human form, crushing down below a large rock, Anthony close to me.
“Something doesn’t feel right,” I say. “Castor is supposed to have met us here. And besides, everything is earily calm.”
“Yea, I thought so too,” Anthony says, peeing out from behind the rocks. “I am going to sneak forward, see what’s going on. We need to know if we have worked right into a trap.”
“Be careful.” I told him, watching as he sneaked out.
The rain has stopped now, but the grounds were wet, leaving sandy footprints. Also, the cold was on another level, and I shivered slightly.
I sneaked through different rocks, trying to find Emily.
What if I had been wrong? what if they were already out at sea?
I hid behind a rock as the voice of two men could be heard, arguing.
“What the fuck Calisto, I told you not to remove those fucking chains no matter what. How could you be fucking stupid. Kahlifa is here already, asking for her. What the fuck do I tell him huh.”
I peeped from behind the rock, gritting my teeth at the sight of Antonio, grabbing the collar of a young man as he screams out at him.
It took everything in me not to lunge at him, breaking his fucking skull against this rocks.
“I am sorry Antonio. I just, I didn’t know she was going to run. Besides, we are in the middle of fucking nowhere, she couldn’t have gone far.”
My head was beating wide the more I listened to them. Fuck, had Emily escaped, is that what they were talking of?
“You fucking better pray I find her, if not it’s your blood painting those bloody oceans red. Fuck…., I leave you alone with Emily for an hour, and you couldn’t even handle that.”
Emily…., my Emily. I smiled, my heart in my throat. Was that why everything was too calm?
I needed to find Emily, she was somewhere, alone and scared, with no idea I was here.
I watched as Antonio stormed of towards the camp set up by the hunters, Callisto or whatever following behind him.
Immediately they were far off, I dashed out from behind the rocks, running in the opposite direction.
“Emily…,, please, can you hear me?”
“Roman…, o my God…. Roman, I managed to escape, I don’t know where I am, Edmund river, East I don’t know if you got my message. Hunters, they are here.”
“I know, I got your message, I am at the Edmund river, where are you.”
“I am at…..”
Emily’s voice was suddenly cut of, while I held my head, groaning at the pain stabbing my skull.
Shit…, someone has gotten to her.
