Chapter 148 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE

Chapter 148 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE
ROMAN’S POV

East…Edmund river, find me…..

I blinked, pausing mid sentence.

That voice, Emily…

“What is it?”Alpha George asked me, as everyone gathered in Anthony’s office at the cave stared at me.

“What?” I murmur.

“Emily…., can you hear me…, Emily.” Everything was silent, whatever connection she had weakly made was broken.

“Anthony please pull up the map, check up east, Edmund river.” I say, striding towards his table where a large map was displayed.

“Edmund river,” Anthony mumbles out, his eyes scanning the map.

“Here, right here.” he says, pointing at a spot on the map. “It’s at the far end of the East, filled with nothing but rocks and water. Why?” He asked, turning towards me.

I run my hands through my hair, pacing around. Last time, Emily had mentioned her astral projection, and currently Antonio was pumping her full of drugs blocking her mental connections, and also wolfsbane.

Honestly I still don’t trust Alpha George. I can’t believe that for years, he didn’t suspect that Antonio was working for Zed. But then again, Alpha Castor didn’t suspect the same about Serena till it was too late.

Still, the mental link between Emily and I was still something I wanted to keep to myself.

“I just had the sudden thought to look there.” I say, staring at Anthony pointedly.

He looked away, biting his lips.

“It’s a good spot, no one will think to look there, and with a smaller ship, or a boat. One can ride out to the open sea. You say Zed's lab is on a ship right, then this would be the perfect place for Antonio to hide out. Somewhere accessible, between land and water.” Alpha George told us, staring at the map.

“Very well, we have our location. First of all, I need twenty guards or more to start preparing. We don’t know what to expect when we get there, I want us thoroughly prepared.”

“Tomorrow we ride out.” I say, glancing at each of them.

Rachel barged into the room, breathing hard. She handed the phone to me.

“Hello.” I say, listening to who was on the other end.

“I think Killian will be taken to sea,” Castor's voice rings out through the phone.

I put the phone on speakout, letting everyone hear him.

“The tracker is leading me East, close to the Edmund river according to my map here, and if Antonio is indeed working with Zed, then I think he should be at the same place.”

Yea, we filled Castor in on Emily’s capture. That way he could keep an eye out, in case it was the hunters.

“Edmund river?” Anthony says, “we are also setting out tomorrow towards that location.”

“It’s going to be brutal,” Castor says, “apparently I think they are all meeting there tomorrow. This could be it, our chance to end this once and for all.”

We all glanced at ourselves, the implications of his words a huge fog, clouding the room.

“Scratch that, I think we will be heading out to the Edmund river by nightfall. Our warriors have been training hard ever since the attack, I have taught them about silver and anything else they need to know about the hunters. We are ready, I need to be there tomorrow, we would not like to miss our one shot at this.” I told him.

“Very well, my men are moving ahead, we should be there by nightfall, scout out the area, it’s going to be hard, this terrain is filled with rocks and water, and I am sure they are accustomed to the place, unlike us. We need to plan properly and carefully. I will update you when I get there,” Castor told us, before hanging up.

“How fast can you prepare your warriors?” I asked, turning towards Alpha George, already dialing Jackson's number.

I must say, choosing Jackson as my beta was one of the best decisions so far. He was efficient and brutal. Exactly how I liked it.

“We will meet you at the Edmund river tomorrow. I will send words out.” Alpha George says, before excusing himself.

“Jackson…,” I called out immediately he picked up.

“We have news about Emily, only on a need to know basis, we still have no idea if Zed has spies inside our pack.”

“I need you to gather twenty loyal warriors, by nightfall we head east.”

“On it,” Jackson says immediately.

“Thank you,” I told him, before hanging up.

See, every Alpha needed a friend as their Beta, not mindless clowns wanting to please, never direct, never honest.

Jackson had cut off alliances with a few packs. We gained nothing from them, but they gained everything from us. I supported his decision. And also he had refused the funding Stefan asked for.

Last I heard, he was throwing a huge party, rather than assisting. Alpha Regan would be shaking in his grave at what Stefan had turned a once promising pack into.

“What about the twins, anything?” I asked Rachel.

“Yes, in fact they had broken through the barrier, they drew something I couldn’t figure out, coordinates or something like that.”

“Let me see,” Anthony says, stretching his hands to collect the Large drawing book Rachel was holding.

The twins were currently at Rachel’s lab, poking inside the hunter head Alpha George had captured. It seems they had succeeded in breaking whatever barriers Zed had put on the hunter. I know, i didn’t want them involved in any of this, but they had this powers for a reason, and I needed to do everything I can to find Emily.

Anthony looked from the drawing to the map in front of him.

“Shit…,” he mutters.

“What is it?” I asked, moving closer.

“Can you see this, this coordinate, if you look them up, it’s the coordinate for the Red Sea, very close to the Edmund river. I believe we now know where Zed's ship is.”

“Anthony…,” I mumbled out. “This could be it, the end of everything. We can finally finish this lunatic.”

“How did you know?” Anthony asked me suddenly.

“About what?” I asked back.

“Edmund river, you mentioned it first. How did you know to look there?” He asked.

“It’s a secret,” I say softly. “Look, I am not trying to keep any secret, but this one thing is something I want to keep to myself, at least for a while. My family, everything, even the twins, are all exposed. I don’t….”

“I understand.” Anthony says, cutting me off. “You don’t have to, I trust you, Roman. And I know you will do whatever it takes to protect Emily and my nieces. That’s all that matters to me.”

“Thank you Anthony.” I say, “I know we don’t say this a lot, but thank you for everything you do for this family. Emily is lucky to have you and Castor as her uncle. And also thank you Rachel.” I say.

Alpha George walked back into the room, looking exhausted.

“I can not begin to say how sorry I am. I have always prided myself in being vigilant, and it’s shameful that my very own enemy was right beside me all these while, and I couldn’t figure it out. Tomorrow, Antonio belongs to me.” Alpha George growled out in anger.

“That’s if Emily doesn’t tear him apart first.” I said, and we all smiled.

“Fuck, I can’t believe tomorrow everything will be finally over.” I mumble out, glancing at everyone, each lost in their own thoughts.
