Chapter 14 Chapter fourteen
ROMAN’S POV
The tantalizing smell of baked chocolate pie roused Roman up, his nose sniffing the air as he licked his lips. He turned on his side, warm body meeting his cold flesh.
Slowly he opened his eyes, blinking slowly, as he adjusted his eyes to the darkness of the room he was in. He ran his hands against the body close to him, stopping as he made contact with hair longer than his.
Roman jerked up sharply, blushing as the event of yesterday filters through his mind.
His bedroom door opened, his mother entered, balancing a tray filled with food and drink in her hand. She frowned at the darkness of the room, going straight to the blinds.
Sunlight filters through the room, its rays casting a golden hue around the walls.
The brightest, illuminating on Emily’s sleeping face. She groaned, turning her face towards him, her small body curling in on itself as she snuggled closer to him, hiding her face in his body.
Roman blushed as his mum raised her eyebrows, before shaking her head, dropping the tray at his bedside table. She sat on the bed, checking the bandages wrapped around his legs and back.
“How are you feeling?” she asked him, her hands moving towards his forehead.
Sore and tired, he replied.
She glanced towards Emily, biting her lips, before looking away.
How could you go out like that? Roman, she whispered softly. I told you I had called your father, and you just ran into the forest alone.
Mum!!!Roman called brokenly, holding back the tears in his eyes. I am so sorry, but I just couldn’t wait.
She nodded her head, wiping the tears gently streaming down her face.
She picked up the tray, placing it on his lap. Eat up she said, wake Emily up too. She stands up staring at both him and Emily before leaving his room, closing the door gently behind her.
Emily opened her eyes, standing up immediately as his mum left the room.
Have you been awake all this time? Roman asked her, before drinking from the glass of water on the tray.
Yes, she whispered, wringing her hands, a habit he had picked up she did, whenever she was scared or nervous.
Come eat, he said, pointing to the tray filled with food.
She nodded her head before coming to sit close. Roman passed a plate of food to her, before eating his own.
Suddenly, Stefan burst into his room, his hands on his knees as he panted.
Did you run all the way here? Roman asked him, grinning at how stupid he looked.
Dude!! He drawled out, how could you leave me out? he asked, drinking the remaining water in my glass, his eyes widening, as he noticed Emily.
Hy!! he said shyly, his face red.
Roman burst out laughing, the sight of Stefan blushing like a girl, amusing.
They discussed animatedly, Stefan filling him up on all that had happened.
After a while, Bella also came into his room, ruffling his hair despite his protests. She then proceeded to warn him sternly. Next time call me, she had said, don’t react so rashly, if we hadn’t found you on time, she paused, letting the implication of that sentence hang in the air. She glanced at Emily who had been stuck to his side, silent, before leaving his room.
Stefan finally leaves, already late for school, promising to bring his homework for him.
After eating, Roman slumped down on the bed, gazing at the stars he and Bella had hung on the ceiling of his room.
His father was yet to come see him, and he knew how much trouble he would be in when he recovered. Roman moved his bandaged legs around, hoping everything heals fast.
Do you remember anything about your parents? Roman asked Emily, he could not imagine not remembering his mum or dad, and as much as Bella annoyed him sometimes, he could not bear the thought of losing her.
No, she mumbles. Roman sighed, he felt so sad for her. His wolf whined softly in his head, he lifted himself from the bed, resting his head against his hands.
Your wolf Roman queried, facing Emily. what its name?
He had seen her wolf, and for such a small girl, her wolf was massive. He believes her wolf to be an Alpha, but until he talks to his dad, Roman wasn’t too sure.
I don’t know, Emily said, I have never spoken to my wolf. Roman widens his eyes. It was unheard off for a werewolf not to talk to their wolf.
Really!!!! Roman asked. Ok can you close your eyes he told her, motioning for Emily to kneel down on the bed. She knelt down, facing Roman as she waited for whatever he wanted her to do.
Close your eyes Roman told her. Now try to think of your wolf, I am sure it’s somewhere inside, waiting for you.
Emily closed her eyes, waiting to hear from her wolf. But after a while of nothing, she gave up, shaking her head dejectedly.
Roman frowned, confused. His wolf has always been a part of him, he could not imagine not hearing or discussing with Ronan his wolf.
The name of my wolf is Ronan, he said, holding her hands in comfort, as they both slumped back down, laying close together.
They talked about nothing in particular, switching between different topics as Roman told her funny moments of his life. He smiled, liking the sound of her laughter.
After a while, they both dozed off.
Wake up dear, Roman’s mum said, as she gently shook him. He blinked his eyes, before yawning.
You stink, she said, come, go take your shower so I can change your bandages.
She helped Roman up, supporting him as he limped to the bathroom, before giving him his privacy.
After he finished showering, changing into the clothes his mother had brought him, he stepped out.
Emily was awake already, discussing with his mother. His mum adjusted for him, before asking him to sit down so she could change his bandages.
His wounds were healing nicely, and he was sure that in two days, he would be completely healed up. He was a Beta wolf, so he healed much faster.
She stood up, asking Emily to come with her, but Roman protested.
Roman, his mum, called sternly, Emily can not stay in the same room as you. We only allowed her, because anyone who tried to separate the both of you was in danger. But now it’s no longer necessary.
But!!!!! mum, Roman said, unwilling for her to go. The sharp look his mother gave him, made him close his mouth.
And beside, she is going to be with Bella. Stop being dramatic, his mum said, rolling her eyes at the dejected look in his eyes.
His mother asked that they all go down for dinner instead, helping Roman down the stairs. They all sat around the dinner table, with Bella ditching out their food.
Where is dad? Roman asked.
He is working, and I am sure he will be back soon, his mother told him.
They focused on their food, Bella discussing with his mother something about school, while Roman kept adding some of his food to Emily’s plate.
The creaking sound of their front door opening, alerted Roman. He snapped his head toward that direction, a smile on his lips at the sight of his dad, at their front door. He hung his jacket, on the railing close by the door, where they do keep their jacket, and other things, before walking into the house.
Roman's smile wiped out of his face at the sight of Miss Falcon, the pack doctor trailing inside behind his father.
His heart rate increased, knowing that her presence meant trouble, especially for Emily.
She greeted everyone warmly, before turning towards Emily, who was already sinking deeper into her seat.
Hello!!!! Emily, she purred, her eyes shining maliciously.
