Chapter 144 Chapter 144. Lysander’s Arrival

Chapter 144 Chapter 144. Lysander’s Arrival
Lysander stood beside the vehicle, his gaze fixed on Zoria.

She was pinned beneath several large men. Her hair was completely tangled. Her deathly pale face was red and swollen from the blows she had taken. Her clothes had been pulled out of place, and blood stained nearly every part of her body.

There were many scrapes across her pale skin, along with several wounds that were still bleeding.

Lysander’s pupils slowly narrowed.

A violent emotion surged in his eyes, like huge waves rising just before a storm broke. The terrifying pressure coming from him made the surrounding air feel so heavy that everyone could barely breathe.

The large men around Zoria went stiff.

They hurriedly released her, then slowly rose to their feet. Their wolves’ survival instincts made them understand just how dangerous the man standing in front of them truly was.

There was a very good chance that none of them would leave this place alive today.

Lysander looked at them as though he were already looking at a group of dead bodies.

There was no longer any light in his bright golden eyes. All that remained inside them was cold darkness and killing intent so deep that no one could see the bottom of it. Together with his handsome face, he looked like a demon who had just walked out of hell.

Not one of them dared to look directly into his eyes.

Zoria curled her body into herself and lay facedown on the ground. Both of her hands were still wrapped tightly around her belly.

The pain inside her stomach was becoming more violent with every passing moment.

It felt as though something inside her body was being crushed. The smell of her own blood and the scent of her unborn child made the wolf instinct inside her panic without stopping.

Zoria tried her best to endure the pain.

She pressed one hand against the ground and slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position. Then she turned her head and looked at Lysander.

The killing intent covering the man’s face made her freeze for a brief moment. But right after that, her stiff and tense body gradually relaxed again.

“You came?”

Her voice was very soft.

It sounded as though she had known from the very beginning that he would definitely come to save her.

Lysander did not answer.

He quickly walked over to her, took off his coat, and carefully covered Zoria’s body with it. Then he bent down, placed one arm behind her back and the other beneath her knees, and lifted her from the ground.

“We’re going to the hospital.”

Lysander’s voice was extremely hoarse.

The arms holding Zoria could not stop trembling. He had already tried his best to control his strength, but the Alpha’s killing intent continued to pour out of him, leaving the surrounding werewolves too frightened to make a single move.

Zoria had no strength left in her body.

She leaned against Lysander’s chest and said quietly, “Put me down.”

Lysander said nothing.

He only tightened his arms and held her even closer to his body, as if she would disappear from right in front of his eyes the moment his hold on her loosened even a little.

Zoria clenched her injured right hand tightly. The wound across her palm was still bleeding. Her blood had already stained Lysander’s shirt.

“Lysander, I may have been infected with Blood Poison.”

When he heard her say those words in such a calm voice, Lysander’s heart suddenly clenched painfully.

He lowered his head and looked at her.

Zoria’s expression was very calm, but her lips had turned completely white. It seemed that she no longer had enough strength left to be afraid. She did not even have enough strength left to cry.

Her voice was very low, but every word she spoke was clear.

“There are open wounds on my body. Those men all said that they were infected with Blood Poison. When I fought back, I cut one of them and injured his arm. His blood got into the wound on my hand.”

Zoria stopped for a moment to catch her breath. Then she continued speaking.

“If he really carries Blood Poison, there’s a chance that I’ve already been exposed to it. So, Lysander, it would be better if you didn’t touch me right now. There’s blood all over my body. I don’t know which blood is mine and which belongs to those men.”

Lysander lowered his head and looked at Zoria with a heavy expression. He could clearly feel the body in his arms slowly turning colder. It was as though an invisible hand had reached into his chest and was tightening around his heart, squeezing it little by little. The pain was so strong that he could barely breathe.

Lysander looked directly into Zoria’s eyes. His blue eyes were filled with tenderness and a love that he could not hide, no matter how hard he tried.

“Don’t worry. You won’t be infected with Blood Poison.”

Zoria gave him a faint smile. Her face still held the same indifferent expression, as though this matter was not frightening at all. But the right hand resting over her belly had tightened even more. Her fingers almost dug through the fabric of her clothes.

There was not a single werewolf who did not know about Blood Poison.

Up to now, there was still no medicine that could completely cure Blood Poison. The available medication could only stop the pathogen from continuing to develop and delay the time before the illness became active.

What frightened Zoria the most was not what would happen to her own body. It was the possibility that the Blood Poison might pass from her to the child inside her belly.

“Alpha, what should we do with these men?”

Lysander carefully carried Zoria into the vehicle. He pulled his coat around her body until she was completely covered, making sure no cold air could reach her. Only after he was certain she would not feel cold did he turn around and step out of the vehicle.

The five men had already been forced onto the ground by his guards. Their arms were held tightly behind their backs, and they were made to kneel in front of him.

A cold killing intent slowly spread from Lysander’s body.

The pressure belonging to an Alpha werewolf made the surrounding air feel heavy and suffocating. Even the guards standing nearby had to lower their heads. None of them dared to look directly into his eyes.

“Take all of them back. Question them carefully.”

When Lysander said those words, there was no longer even the slightest trace of light in his eyes. All that remained was a dark and frightening coldness, enough to make anyone who saw it shiver without knowing why.

Who was the person who had kidnapped Zoria?

And who had deliberately found five men infected with Blood Poison and sent them here to gang-rape her?
