Sofia Bliss.
I tried to stay standing.
My legs shook so violently it felt like they didn’t belong to me anymore.
The floor tilted, the cage spun lightly, and for a moment I thought I would pass out right there.
But I couldn’t weaken.
I had to be strong, resist, and find a way to escape all this madness.
But then… he started laughing.
A loud, thick, mocking laugh.
The so-called governor tilted his head, as if he were watching a child throwing a tantrum.
“You won’t allow it?” he repeated, dripping sarcasm. “How curious.”
He took a few steps forward.
“Girl, you don’t get to allow anything in here. I think you still don’t understand the situation you’re in.”
I stepped back.
“I can do whatever I want,” he continued, far too calmly. “And we’ve already decided what you’re going to do.”
My breath caught.
“You will give birth to the next true Supreme Alpha.”
He smiled.
“Whether you want to… or not.”
That sick bastard.
“Men,” he ordered. “Come in. One at a time.”
NO.
My eyes widened, my heart exploded inside my chest, still refusing to believe this was really happening.
They were really—
Are you really going to force me to sleep with those men?
This… this was rape.
This was inhuman.
They were nothing but disgusting monsters.
I took several steps back, stumbling over my own feet until my spine hit the cold bars behind me.
The metal chilled my skin, pinning me there like a cruel warning: there was nowhere left to run.
And then I saw him.
My uncle.
He was the first to step into the cage.
He approached, the key hanging from his neck shining under the light like some trophy I would need to steal if I wanted to escape.
All of them had one.
So they could enter and leave whenever they pleased.
He unlocked the padlock, and, when he stepped inside, I felt the faint shock of the silver touching his feet.
He frowned.
The cage weakened him too.
But not enough.
Not like me—
trapped with shackles and that cursed collar.
“You don’t need the mask,” I spat, my voice weak and broken but full of hatred. “I know exactly who you are, you disgusting son of a bitch.”
My hands clenched the bars behind me so tightly my skin burned.
He didn’t hesitate. He removed the mask.
“Good,” he said plainly. “I was getting uncomfortable doing this hidden, anyway.”
“You’re sick,” I growled, feeling tears burn without falling. “Thinking you’d do this to my mother… now to me… to people of your own blood…”
My gaze found Janine.
My grandmother.
“How could you?” my voice cracked. “Throw your daughter into this. Throw your own granddaughter.”
She didn’t flinch.
Not even a little.
“You don’t understand now, Sofia,” she said coldly. “But you will. When the child is born, you’ll understand.”
Something tore inside me.
“No,” I whispered before screaming. “NEVER!”
He moved toward me.
Luke reached out to grab me. I dodged, barely, trying to shove him away, but he was too strong.
Too strong even weakened by silver.
He pulled me toward the floor—
No.
Not the floor.
The bed.
It had been there all along.
Prepared.
Panic detonated inside my chest.
“Let go of me!” I screamed, thrashing, feeling my muscles fail. “Let go!”
He growled in frustration. Even weakened, he had to fight to control me.
“Interesting…” the governor commented from outside the cage, watching as if it were theater.
“She resists more than expected.”
My body trembled, but I didn’t stop fighting.
“She’s a true Alpha,” he observed. “Not even a pure alpha is managing to restrain her alone.”
But then my blood froze when he added:
“The others may enter.”
What?
They all came in, and then I felt ten hands on me.
Arms, shoulders, legs.
All at once.
I kicked, bit, scratched, used every scrap of strength I had left.
The wolf inside me screamed, rabid, smashing against the silver walls holding him prisoner.
Then they dragged me to the bed, forced me onto it.
They strapped my wrists.
My legs.
I heard the sharp clicks of padlocks closing.
Like the sound of something being sealed forever.
Shit… I need to get out of here!
I kept fighting, the metal cutting my wrists, my ankles—
Until…
Everything stopped.
Suddenly.
Everyone froze at the same time.
A shiver crawled down my spine.
It was something I had never felt before.
Not fear.
Not pain.
A presence so overwhelming that even my lungs felt it—
And that was while I was still inside a silver cage, shackled, collared, my senses dulled.
The men froze.
The governor frowned.
My uncle stepped back.
“What is that?” someone whispered.
I felt it before I saw it.
The door opened—
And then everyone saw.
He was standing right there.
Adrian.
But not the Adrian I knew.
His hair was completely white, like moonlight itself…
No—
like the moon embodied.
His presence filled the entire room, suffocating, colossal—
as if something else were walking with him.
My heart clenched so hard it hurt.
In the middle of all the chaos, all the terror, the silver burning my blood—
Was it really him?
Was he truly there?
For a second, I wondered if this was just a hallucination—
Silver is poisoning my mind.
“Adrian…?” my voice came out in a whisper.
He lifted his gaze.
His eyes met mine.
And in that instant, I knew.
This was not an illusion.
Not a dream.
Not a broken mind.
He was really there.
And whatever had come back with him…
Had not returned in peace.
The men recoiled, instinctively pressing themselves against the far end of the cage, taking defensive stances, and abandoning me strapped to the bed. Sweat dripped down their temples, their throats bobbing in fear.
And for the first time since all of this began…
It felt like the moon had not abandoned us after all.
