Chapter 133
Chapter 133
Just then, urgent footsteps echoed from the garden entrance.
Caspian came sprinting over.
His car had already left the hospital gates when Flynn received the emergency call from the security team.
Seeing Camilla collapsed on the lawn, her condition unknown, and the small child lying in a pool of blood beside her—
The thread of sanity inside Caspian's mind snapped clean through.
"Camilla!"
He rushed over and dropped to his knees, carefully gathering Camilla into his arms.
Her face was paper-white. Her breathing so faint he could barely feel it.
"Doctor! Get a doctor!" Caspian roared over his shoulder, his voice shaking.
Medical staff came running with gurneys.
Camilla and Ollie were swiftly loaded onto the stretchers and rushed toward the emergency building.
Caspian stood. He turned toward the man pinned to the ground.
He walked over. One step at a time.
No wasted words.
Caspian grabbed the man by the collar and dragged him upright.
Then drove his fist straight into the man's face.
The man's nose caved in instantly. Blood sprayed. Two teeth flew out, trailing red.
"You dare hit me? When Serena gets out, she won't let any of you off!" The man spat through a mouthful of blood, still defiant.
Caspian said nothing. He lifted his boot and slammed it into the man's kneecap.
A sickening crack echoed through the air.
The man screamed and crumpled to his knees.
Caspian grabbed him by the hair, forced his head back, and drove his knee into the man's jaw.
The man's eyes rolled back. He couldn't even scream. He went limp.
Caspian didn't stop.
He stepped on the man's right hand—the one that had held the knife—and ground his boot down hard.
The man woke from the sheer agony and let out a bloodcurdling wail.
"Mr. Mitchell!" Flynn panicked and rushed forward, grabbing Caspian's arm. "Any more and he'll die! Let us handle it—Ms. Lavien needs you!"
Caspian's chest heaved violently.
He kicked the man aside and strode toward the emergency building.
"Flynn." Caspian spoke as he walked, each word dripping with violence. "Dig into him. Find his connections. And get Theodric over here. Now."
"Yes, sir!"
Outside the emergency room.
The red light above the door glared down like an accusation.
Caspian sat on the bench, hands clasped, veins bulging across his knuckles.
His shirt was stained with Camilla's blood. The sight of it unbearable.
Emergency Room One held Camilla.
Emergency Room Two held Ollie.
Flynn approached quickly, holding a tablet with expedited investigation results. "Mr. Mitchell, we've got it."
Flynn handed over the device. "The guy's unemployed. A hardcore Serena fan. But this wasn't random. We found a fifty-thousand-dollar wire transfer into his overseas account yesterday."
Caspian scanned the screen. "Source."
"Serena's personal assistant." Flynn swallowed. "Before Serena was arrested, she had her assistant route funds through an offshore account. She hired a hitman. The target was Ms. Lavien. They just didn't expect Ollie to jump in front of that knife."
Caspian let out a cold laugh.
Well played, Serena.
Still scheming from behind bars.
Footsteps echoed down the hall.
Theodric came running, drenched in sweat.
He'd discovered his son missing at home and had been searching frantically when Flynn's call came through.
"Where's Ollie? Where's my son!"
Theodric rushed toward the emergency room door, trying to push it open. Two guards blocked him.
He whipped around toward Caspian, eyes bloodshot.
"Caspian! What did you do to my son!" Theodric lunged forward, reaching for Caspian's collar.
Caspian lifted his hand and threw a stack of printed documents straight into Theodric's face.
Papers scattered across the floor.
"Take a good look." Caspian leaned back in his chair. "At what your precious woman has done."
Theodric froze.
He looked down. His eyes landed on a screenshot of a chat conversation.
Between Serena's assistant and the fanatic.
[Fifty thousand deposited. Another fifty when it's done.]
[Make sure she dies. Preferably in public. Stabbed to death.]
There were also wire transfer records. Evidence of Serena laundering money through offshore accounts.
Theodric stood paralyzed.
He bent down, picking up the pages one by one. His hands trembling violently.
"That's impossible…" Theodric murmured. "Serena wouldn't even kill a chicken. How could she hire a hitman…"
"Your son is lying in there right now." Caspian stood and walked over to Theodric, looking down at him. "That knife was meant for Camilla. Your four-year-old son took the blade for his mother."
"Serena hired someone to kill your ex-wife. And nearly got your own child killed in the process."
Caspian's lips curled into something cruel. "Theodric, you're pathetic."
The words hit like a sledgehammer.
Theodric's ears rang.
Images flooded his mind.
Serena leaning into his chest, crying that Camilla had bullied her.
Serena holding Ollie's hand, promising to love him like her own son.
And him?
He had cursed Camilla over and over for Serena's sake.
He had watched Camilla get torn apart online, watched her walk away with nothing while dying of illness.
Just half an hour ago, he'd taken a whip to Ollie's palms, calling him a traitor.
The real traitor had been beside him all along.
He had lifted a murderer onto a pedestal. And driven his real wife and son into hell with his own hands.
Ollie's words echoed in his ears. "You're a bad man."
Theodric's legs buckled. He collapsed to his knees outside the emergency room.
He raised his hand and slapped himself across the face.
Then again.
He struck himself over and over, left and right, like a man possessed.
His cheeks swelled. Blood trickled from his lip.
But the pain was nothing. Not even a fraction of what tore through his chest.
He had destroyed everything.
He had destroyed his own family.
The hallway filled with the sound of Theodric slapping himself.
Caspian didn't even glance at him. His eyes stayed locked on the door to Emergency Room One.
Time crawled.
Every second was agony.
Then—the red light above Emergency Room Two went dark.
