21. Blood, Sweat and Tears
Ada's POV
Getting to Gemma's house the first thing I noticed was the door open. The coffee box dropped with the grains all over the floor. Without a second thought I dropped my bag slowly to the floor removing my shoes and carefully moving into the living room. Clearing the entire downstairs, snatching one of the larger kitchen knives. Then I made my way upstairs to hear a whimper from one of the rooms.
Gently I placed my hand on the door handle opening the door, to find Cooper and Gemma curled in a ball, Cooper bleeding from the side. "Call 999!" Gemma yelled, rushed and frantic I felt a little strange, light headed. Until a deep voice brought me back into the reality of the situation. "Don't call anything." Slowly I placed my hands in the air out of fear he'd have a gun... Looking into his deep furrowed brow I saw him standing with a knife. Holding me to my surrender. He gestured for me to move into the corner with them. Gently I walked backwards to sit with them as I grabbed Coopers weak shivering hand.
The tears began to fall down my cheeks as I couldn't control anything. "Looks like a nasty scratch mate." My joke appeared to work as she giggled with a large cough and sniffled to say "Plaster and some ibuprofen should do me, don't you worry." I heard her stutter and could only give her a fake smile, realising how much blood she'd lost. "Sure you'll be fine mate, it's a tiny think what are you crying for." I tried to continue to take her mind of things but my smile wasn't a smile of happiness, it was memories... The ones we could have. "You're my ring bearer I need you to bear the rings bro." I joked around to see Gemma smile a little bit more as we both took Coop in closer.
Looking into her eyes I noticed something strange, her eyes turning dark and cold as I squeezed tighter to her hand. Covered in blood, sweat and tears. "Ada can we be serious?" I looked into her questioning eyes and refused to believe everything, because it's all a dream. It's all a dream. It is all a dream. "No serious is for old people Coops we've still got so much more to do you and me. When I'm old and weeing on the floor you have to clean it up. Who else is going to look after Gem when I'm gone..." Her puppy dog eyes cut through my heart and tore it up into little pieces as I felt more tears dripping down my face. "I love you Ada."
The more and more I refused to believe it the more and more it seemed to hit me. I couldn't hear something from her that wasn't laughter it didn't comprehend "Shut up and suck it up now Cooper you're making it sound like you're going to die, you're not going to die!" I turned my head but was forced to look back as she weakly took my head and forced it back round into her eyes. "Just say it." A few things we hadn't ever said to each other one was I hate you and the other was I love you. The words we said were going to be saved for special occasions "I love you Sophia."
