5. Grow up
Adeline's POV
I can't believe how funny she is! Seriously like I've never been in so many stitches. It's like having my own personal stand up comedian, Danys just great. Carefully I wipe a tear from my eyes only just noticing that the rest of the room is quiet. Calming down I'm quiet and see Gemma giving me her angry eyes. She should be happy. Whys she not happy? All I ever wanted was her happiness. Shouldn't she be happy that I'm enjoying myself?
"So can you tell me what I just said Adeline?" Screwing my eyebrows up... Something to do with maths. No I couldn't say that to her she'd get upset. "Ada you never listen seriously I don't know what the hell has gotten into you but you need to buckle back down and do your work your grades are slipping once again. Is a couple of laughs worth loosing your grades? Grow up." Those last two words spat out of her mouth and stung like a viper.
My girlfriend telling me to grow up! The cheek, snatching my bags I didn't want to let the class see me crying. Everyone knows Adeline Westwood doesn't cry when she gets shouted at. For the sake of mine and Gemma's relationship I had to leave the room. As much as it pained me to hear her screaming telling me to come back. I just wanted to know why she flipped. Mind you, one and a half years. We we're bound to start having these days. Strange, I thought with her it would be different.
Sitting at the end of the field, it was the one bit of peace of quiet I could get. "Thought you didn't smoke anymore?" I heard a voice from behind, one that I didn't want but knew I needed. Gently I docked out the roll up on the tree flicking the evidence over the fence. "I don't know what you're talking about." We stood in silence for a few minutes, it's always been awkward when Cooper catches me smoking. She's one of those overprotective friends. Which I don't mind when I'm not stressed about loosing my girlfriend.
Looking up to her I kicked a stone to try and break the ice. Cooper breathed out a large breath making me nervous. "She cried, when you left I mean. She went into the back cupboard and cried. Quietly but I could see her." I'm not hearing this. No she does not get to play the emotional card. She shouted at me! She made me cry in the bathroom and smoke some shit from a year 9 dealer. That's how stressed I was! She doesn't get to cry and make me feel like I'm the shit person. "Time alone please Cooper. That's what I need." Nodding I knew she understood as she walked back towards jack. Who sat alone and waiting for her.
Walking back I didn't fancy going home looking like I was high from all the crying. So I went to my place. There's this little bit by the river banking, no one ever goes there. All the druggies used to use it until someone died or something. I don't know but it's my little spot. Gemma and I could go there knowing we wouldn't get caught. It was just perfect. Was. I picked up the nearest stone and was about to throw it when I heard someone coming round the corner.
I watched that strangers face so distant from mine as she pulled me in for a hug. Rosie isn't an affectionate person so when she hugs me it's a little special. We aren't those best friends that make bracelets or bitch behind backs. We're the sort that throw flour at each other, tell the other that they're stupid when really their idea was kinda smart, we just know each other. Sitting down it didn't take long before I explained everything. I can trust Rosie.
Pulling me in I felt her scruff my hair up in a nuggie. She's such a cow but one I'm always willing to put up with. "She flipped out because she loves you, god when'd you get so thick? She clearly loves you! So go home and sort yourself out. Screw that I'll take you home to get sorted myself." She placed her tanned hand out towards me. Of course. She always knows what to do. I'm just scared this time I'll be too late to sort things out.
Rosie walked me home, as per usual. I walked in to see Daphne and dad sat. Clearly they'd been waiting for me "hi." Daphne instantly pulled me into her long arms. She isn't so little anymore and sometimes I need her to look after me. Sounds weird, usually I love being the one to take care of her issues but not today. Not when Gemma probably hated my guts.
Suddenly that 6foot man stood to his feet" Ada?" I felt my dad pull me and Daph into a big hug. "It's okay I'm sure it will all work out. I'll drive you to Gemma's. Go get ready." Pausing for a moment I looked at the effort it'd take to get up the stairs."take me straight there please?" Nodding they both guided me outside and into the car. I don't care, she can see me in the state she's made. She can seems and well both collapse and make up or have really passionate angry sex.
