Chapter 15 Chapter 15
\- KEEGAN ~
I still wondered what had gotten into my omega last night. She was acting really strange. Why was she flirting? Did she really take my dominance and possessiveness seriously? I couldn't understand why I had overreacted at the dinner. Seeing Vladimir's hands on her thighs and how much it made her happy had made my blood boil in degrees higher than I could imagine.
'She's our mate, remember?' Drex interrupted my thoughts.
'Not at all. We'll only make her ours to get back at her for the rejection.'
'She's still our mate nevertheless. We can't possibly run away from having a mate forever, can we?'
I intentionally ignored his question. I personally didn't want to know the answer to that question either.
I set my phone aside and grabbed my towel to take a shower. I had been too occupied by paperwork all morning and had almost forgotten to have a bath, until now.
As the water from the shower hit my skin, flashbacks occurred in my head, flashbacks I hadn't remembered for so many years:
"You're such a stupid thing.... You can never become anything great in life... you're both so useless..." I continued hearing the hurls at me and my heavy- hearted cries.
I knew I wasn't supposed to be thinking of it, but remembering the contact of the leather against my young skin made it seem as though it was happening right again. I was forced to shut everything out of my mind, including Drex.
Hurrying out of the shower, I threw on a gray sweatpants and a gray t-shirt before succumbing to the duty of attending to a few more paperwork.
"You're useless. Your existence is a regret and a shame to humanity. If only you'd just die!" The sounds continued filling my head, awakening rage in my blood.
I groaned and swiped the glasses on the table away with my arms; they fell and smashed on the floor. I shook my head to let go of the madness.
"You're a mistake, you're a damn failure!" The voice didn't stop, causing my veins to rise with aggravation pumping in my circulatory system.
I continued smashing things whilst trying to shut everything out of my head.
'What the heck is wrong with you? Stop trying to shut me away.' Drex growled.
The voices still accompanied Drex's voice. My head felt like it was pounding as my jaw clenched. My hands balled into fists and struck the mirror, making it shatter to the floor.
'Stop! Why would these still hunt you? My existence will be useless then.' Drex's face was furrowed to a frown. 'I, the strongest wolf that ever lives, chose you to help you overcome these. Why are you trying to hurt yourself by letting it affect you? We are strong. We can't be intimidated by anything crazy.'
'You're right. I'm being silly. I'm strong and unchallengeable. Nothing can affect me. I'll probably go on a walk.'
'You had better.'
I stormed out of the room without grabbing anything.
My feet stopped moving when the omega's scent hit my nose as I passed her room. The door wasn't completely closed, so I could see her; she had her eyebrows curled upwards in worry as she said something to Chloe. I didn't want to stress myself out by trying to listen to their conversation.
'Let's take her along,' Drex suggested.
'Ew. No. What the heck.'
'Why not? Just as a company. You won't act stupid and embarrass yourself in someone else's presence if you think about it again.'
'okay, that makes sense.'

"This is way harder than I thought." I admitted. "Are
you certain it's a good idea? I mean, he seemed pissed off by my attempt to flirt."
"Yes, I'm certain it's a good idea. Why won't he be pissed off? I'm certain you did a terrible job! Who the hell panics and breathes heavily while flirting? It's supposed to be natural, not like you're preparing for the biggest interview of your life." She rolled her eyes, stuffing a few chips into her mouth.
"Oh dear, I'm scared. What if it worsens my punishments? What if he finds out that I'm on)y trying to use it to get into his head to reduce the pain in my life? Won't that piss him off even further?"
"Trust me, there's no way you'll get into his head enough to make him feel something for you and he'd still punish you. Your life pain will reduce drastically." "I can deal with my life's pain. I've been used to it my whole lie. I can continue enduring the pain of being an omega there." I was trying to escape the doom this could result in.
"Stop acting like it's such a big deal. It's just flirting. Aren't you a woman? You can have your way into his heart. If he's heartless, you can have your way into his mind. No one is incapable of falling in love. Just follow my advice, okay? I can give you a full list on what to do. My first tip would be to smile more when you're around him, bat your eyelashes or anything, just make gestures and make sure you touch him constantly- be affectionate. Every cold-hearted person needs a warm angel to soften his frigidness."
"I don't even have the courage to look into his eyes directly. How will I have the courage to touch him?" My eyebrows were curled upwards from the upsetting worry I was experiencing.
"Girl, you're so annoying. Can't you just be free and let it flow naturally? Don't you want an escape from .." she trailed off, her eyes widening as she stared above my head, "...from the horror movie we watched last night." She twittered.
"Horror movie? What do you-”
She lifted her eyebrows in the direction she was staring. I craned my neck sideways and gasped after noticing Alpha Keegan standing by the now-opened door.
"Can I come in?" He asked, his hands were tucked into his pockets to give him that scary Alpha stance.
"Do you even need to ask?" Chloe grinned.
He walked in, his eyes not leaving Chloe's. "My omega should get ready now. She has to accompany me on a walk to deal with any assistance I might need."
"A stroll? Sure." Her smile extended to a grin and she felt it was the right time to wink at me. "She's ready now, right?"
"Right." I forced a smile and rose to my feet.
"Meet me downstairs." He turned to take his leave.
"See?" She spoke immediately after he left. "It's working already. Would your grumpy Alpha have ever asked you to go on a walk with him?" she smirked.
I rolled my eyes at her, wondering if it was actually because I tried to flirt and he wanted my company with him or if it was simply because of the reason he gave. He couldn't possibly need me to clean the path he was walking on, could he? I couldn't trust him. That man could definitely punish me in such a manner.
"I'll see you later." I smiled at her and left the room, scuttling downstairs till I got to Alpha Keegan who was standing and staring around, his back faced me.
Like he could sense my presence, "don't stare at me,"
He said and started walking, "and keep up with my pace."
"Yes, Alpha." I hurried to stand beside him, following his pace as he walked.
We had walked for almost fifteen minute in silence, the only sounds I could hear were birds chirping as they flew around and the breeze as it blew my hair dramatically.
I remembered Chloe's advice that I was supposed to talk to him and touch him, though I was certainly not doing the latter anytime soon.
"So... you're probably bored?" I cleared my throat, shaking off every form of nervousness in me. I didn't want him to sense fear around me this time.
He didn't respond for a while, till he finally replied, “
yes." "Oh. Me too." I grinned, glad he answered, at least that was an encouragement for me. "Where exactly are we going?"
"It's a stroll. You don't need to have a specific destination. I just need to clear my head from every form of worry."
"How can you be worried about anything?" I snickered. "You're the Alpha. You have everything you need at just a snap of your finger." He scoffed at my utterance. "I'm sorry if I said anything wrong." I glanced at him.
"It isn't a simple thing. You literally have the pressure of an entire pack on your head, the responsibilities and everything. Definitely not something any ordinary werewolf can handle."
I nodded, surprised to hear him speak calmly without his tone demanding authority.
"Can you sing?"
"Sing?" That was strange and random.
"Yes."
"Uh... I don't... I mean, I haven't sung any songs. I'm -"Why the hell would he ask that?
"Jeez, it's fine. It's just a question that requires a 'yes'
or 'no'." He gruffed, his tone returning to the
grumpiness it denoted.
My stomach felt it was the perfect time to grumble, alerting both of us of its absence of food.
"You could've eaten first." He frowned.
"I'm sorry. I was just too occupied. I had to clean and
cook first, then I was distracted by Chloe. Plus, there was no breakfast anymore." I shrugged. "Gosh," he shook his head. "Just follow me."
I tailed behind him till he stopped in front of a clearly luxurious restaurant. Its exterior was gold and it was a high building, probably with a mixture of a hotel as well as being a restaurant.
We got in and my jaw dropped at the interior. Everything was plain white with silver and clearly real gold decorating the entire place to give it a shine.
We were given a table and Alpha Keegan placed an order for both of us. When the food arrived, my mouth went agape again from the amount of food on the table. They all felt like my dream meal. Wait, was I dreaming? I was in such an expensive hotel and could eat this amazing bundle of joy called food?
"Thank you." I said to no one in particular and dug into my food like I hadn't had anything to eat in weeks. People -obviously wealthy- were around us but I didn't care about them a bit. It felt like I was in heaven and was alone with food.
"Can't you eat a little less quicker?" Alpha Keegan snapped me back to my senses, a frown was plastered on his face.
I stopped eating and cleared my throat. "I'm sorry if I'm embarrassing you. I just haven't been to a restaurant in my life, so being in a fancy restaurant like this made me lose my senses. I apologize deeply,
Alpha." I bowed my head.
"Embarrassing me?" He scoffed. "I don't care about how you eat in public, that's your problem. It's not like we're on a date or anything of a sort, so it's your embarrassment to deal with, not mine. Eat as you want to. You might probably never see these people in your life again." He shrugged, averting his gaze from me.
He was right. I had nothing to be ashamed of. This could probably be my last time in a restaurant; I had to enjoy it to the fullest.
I resumed eating more than my stomach could handle, only stopping when ketchup stained my dress.
"Oh no!" I rose to my feet, trying to get rid of the stain with my hand, worsening it. The tissue did nothing to help me either.
"Just go to the restroom to get rid of the stain." He rolled his eyes at me.
I gave him a sheepish smile and found my way to the restroom with the help of a waitress.
The restroom interior was also gold and silver themed and the air conditioner in here was at lower temperature than in the restaurant.
"Jeez, dramatic much with coldness. front of the basin and turned the water on, still trying to get rid of the stubborn stain.
Though my eyes were focus on the stain on my dress, they still caught a glance of the reflection of a figure behind me. It was too late to check as someone covered my mouth from behind with a piece of cloth, muffling my scream.
