Chapter 315 Don't Come Back on Workdays
Chapter 315 Don't Come Back on Workdays
A brand new red Ferrari was parked at the entrance of the parking lot.
A flashy, tacky black bow was tied on the hood.
A 4S dealership salesperson wearing white gloves walked up with a smile and politely handed over the car keys. "Hello, Miss Taylor. This is the latest racing-grade supercar. It just arrived in Empire City last month and was customized by a famous specialist. Mr. White said it's a gift for you to thank you, and also to apologize."
He was thanking her because yesterday he'd been in a bad mood, and racing with her had cheered him up.
But what was the apology for?
Because he'd been rude?
Whatever the reason, she wasn't going to accept it.
"Tell him I appreciate the thought. But this is too expensive, I can't accept it!"
Isabella turned to leave.
The salesperson called out urgently, "Miss Taylor, Mr. White said if you don't accept it, he'll have to come deliver it himself."
Isabella's steps paused.
The salesperson stepped forward and handed over the keys. "Miss Taylor, Mr. White originally ordered this car for himself. It was supposed to be black, but he had us rush to repaint it red. Mr. White said that no matter what you're going through, he hopes you'll be like this car—full of passion every day in the future. He specifically asked me to add a black bow, so you'd be like a thorny rose, racing through the future and living life to the fullest."
She had to admit, Benjamin's words were actually quite nice to hear.
Rebecca decided for Isabella.
Taking the keys from the salesperson and putting them in Isabella's hand, Rebecca lifted her chin. "Thanks! Go back and tell Mr. White that Miss Taylor accepts the gift!"
"Great! Have a wonderful day, both of you!"
The salesperson left.
The racers gathered around the Ferrari and also dispersed.
Isabella looked at the bright red before her and couldn't help turning to Rebecca. "Why accept his gift? It's not like I can't afford to buy one myself."
"What does this have to do with whether you can afford it or not?"
Rebecca laughed. "His bad mood was real, his rudeness was real, and whether it's thanks or an apology, isn't that what he should do? As for the car being expensive... You can just return the favor with a gift later, right? He went to all this trouble to deliver it right to your doorstep—if you reject it now, word will get out. Won't Mr. White lose face?"
Isabella sighed and agreed.
She'd been worried Isabella would be hurt by Anna's cruel words, but after a night of racing, plus one threat, everything had dissolved into nothing.
Relieved, Rebecca waved her hand and headed straight to the studio.
With the entrance quiet, Isabella stood still for a moment, then walked forward, opened the car door, and sat in the driver's seat.
She'd had her eye on this car before it was even released.
8 million dollars—even if she had the money, she couldn't bring herself to spend it.
Later, when the Getty family had their troubles, she'd transferred all her money to Rebecca and completely given up on the idea.
When the money was returned, she'd started getting tempted again.
She never expected it to appear right in front of her before she could take action.
And in this way, no less.
She had to admit, although Benjamin had that annoying, reckless attitude, he was actually a decent person.
In a flash, Isabella shook her head with a smile.
If Benjamin wasn't decent, could he be good friends with Frederick and the others?
Thinking about how they hadn't even exchanged contact information last night, and she didn't know his phone number either.
Isabella sent a message to Rebecca.
[Sweetie, thank Frederick for the new racing venue. Also, have him pass along my thanks to Mr. White.]
[Will do!]
Before starting work, she sent a message to Frederick, and seeing his reply, Rebecca put away her phone and dove into another round of busy work.
When she finished, the stars were already shining brightly outside.
There was a message from her mom on her phone: [Becca, if you finish too late, just go back to Pinewood Mansion with Frederick. Don't bother coming home!]
And one from Frederick: [Mrs. Windsor, your husband is lost. Please come to the front desk to claim him.]
A smile bloomed on her face. Rebecca pushed open the door and saw Frederick sitting on the sofa in the reception area behind the glass door, looking at his tablet.
With Frederick's height and long legs, his legs seemed to have nowhere to go as they bent awkwardly.
Sitting on that small sofa looked really uncomfortable.
But he showed no sign of discomfort, just focused intently on the news on his tablet, as if this wasn't Rebecca's studio but their living room at home.
Footsteps sounded. Frederick looked up, tossed aside the tablet, and caught Rebecca as she rushed over.
"Done with work? Are you hungry?"
"I didn't feel hungry earlier. But now that you ask, I suddenly feel really hungry."
"Let's go, let's go home and eat."
Lights off.
Door locked.
Seeing the Maybach heading straight toward the Getty family villa district, Rebecca turned to look at Frederick. "Thank you, honey!"
He was busy.
She was, too.
Even so, this late at night, he still remembered to go home with her to spend time with her mom.
"Silly!"
Frederick smiled. "Becca, I truly think of her as my own mother."
Rebecca froze, countless feelings of tenderness and heartache welling up inside her.
She quickly said "okay" and turned her gaze away with a smile.
Frederick was very good to Alexa.
New spring collections before they hit the market, tickets to concerts she liked, nutritional supplements she regularly took—every few days, Mike would make a trip to the Getty family to deliver things.
The car stopped at the Getty family villa entrance, and Rebecca snapped back to reality.
Getting out of the car and holding Frederick's arm as they entered, in the living room, Alexa, who was knitting, looked at Layla with amusement. "See? Didn't I tell you? I knew they'd definitely come back."
"Yes!"
Layla smiled and got up, hurrying to the kitchen.
Beef steaks sizzling with oil in the oven.
Hot soup bubbling away in the pot.
And colorful fruits and vegetables.
Clearly prepared for the two of them.
After eating their fill and drinking enough.
Alexa had already started shooing them away. "Hurry up and go back. Don't come back on weekdays anymore."
Rebecca looked puzzled.
Alexa smiled gently. "Aren't you starting school soon? Just eat at the cafeteria, don't trouble Layla. When it's just the two of us, we can have some salad and yogurt and enjoy a nice evening early. When you come back, we have to start planning the menu hours. It's too much trouble!"
Rebecca fell silent.
As the car drove out of the Getty family villa district, one was happy, and one was worried.
But chatting back and forth, agreeing to go back and "bother" Alexa both during the week and on weekends, Rebecca's low mood instantly improved.
As the car approached the villa, they could see from afar that there was a car parked at their door.
When the driver's side door opened,
"Frederick..."
"Who told you to come?"
One joyful, one angry—their attitudes were opposite.
Rebecca instinctively looked toward the woman across from them.
