Chapter 36 The Little Fox Who Ate Chicken
When Dennis got Jessica's message, he was still sprawled out in the private room at the Blue Bar.
Frederick had left, but his intimidating goons were still roaming the main hall.
The bar's patrons, hundreds of men and women just looking to have a good time, were getting their phones checked without question, making sure no one had snapped any unauthorized photos, and being warned to keep their mouths shut.
At first glance, it seemed like this was all about protecting Mr. Johnson's reputation.
But Dennis knew better. It was all about Rebecca.
The realization that he had figured out Frederick's game plan made Dennis boil with anger.
Rebecca had called off their engagement because of Frederick.
If that was true, when had their affair started?
Did Frederick make the first move, promising Rebecca something behind the scenes, leading to their relationship?
Or was it Rebecca who first had feelings for Frederick?
Frederick was the undisputed top billionaire in Empire City's elite circle.
Handsome, capable, and resourceful—he was leagues above Dennis, who was just a playboy known for partying.
So, on the surface, she was his fiancée, the future Mrs. Johnson.
But in reality, she had already latched onto Mr. Windsor.
And after being together for so many years, while other couples would kiss and embrace, and experiment in bed, Rebecca had never let him kiss her, touch her, or even hold her hand, as if it would tarnish her purity.
Could it be she was no longer a virgin and was afraid he would find out?
His left cheek was swollen badly, making it painful to even move his mouth.
But thinking about this possibility made Dennis breathe heavily, clenching his fists.
His eyes were nearly popping out of their sockets.
His phone buzzed softly, and Dennis looked down to see a message from Jessica.
"Mr. Johnson, is Rebecca short on money? She asked us to return the gifts she gave us, but I don't know how much to give back."
Rebecca, short on money? Now that she was Mrs. Windsor?
Staring at the message for a long time, Dennis thought of something and casually transferred $200,000. "Keep me updated on Rebecca!"
"Thank you, Mr. Johnson, no problem!"
Jessica, who never dreamed of such a windfall, was so excited she nearly screamed in the dark.
She opened a second-hand selling app and found the items she had sold, calculated their prices at a 10% discount, and transferred a bit over $150,000 to Rebecca.
Hoping that Rebecca was just angry and didn't really intend to settle accounts so precisely, Jessica figured she would pocket the $200,000.
Feeling pleased with herself, Jessica looked down to see that Rebecca had instantly accepted the money.
Grinding her teeth, Jessica realized she would have to face Rebecca again tomorrow, so she sent one last message, "Rebecca, from now on, I owe you nothing!"
The next second, she saw a red exclamation mark.
System message: The recipient is not your friend. Please add them as a friend to send messages.
Rebecca had blocked her?
Throwing her phone aside, Jessica turned and glared at the dark wall, seething with anger.
In the bedroom of Pinewood Mansion, Frederick had just stepped out of the bathroom to see Rebecca lying on the bed, playing on her phone.
Her feet were up, her soft toes wiggling happily.
A mischievous smile played on her lips, like a little fox that had just caught a chicken.
She seemed to be in a good mood.
Frederick raised an eyebrow slightly.
