Chapter 193: You and Her Are Not Suitable
During the holidays, Ryan and Lucy were together from morning till night.
He had to go to the lab when his advisor called, and he also worked part-time jobs off campus.
Lucy's part-time work filled up her schedule from morning to night.
After lunch together, they ran into Lucy's academic advisor at the restaurant entrance. Almost as soon as the advisor mentioned that Lucy wasn't on this semester's scholarship list, Ryan had a bad feeling.
And now, that feeling came true.
"Kara, you're unbelievable!"
Ryan said coldly, "I'm the one who rejected you. If you have a problem, come to me. What kind of person bullies someone else!"
Kara Jenkins was the only daughter of Ryan's professor, Lester Jenkins.
Her father was a famous professor at a top university.
Her mother was a pampered socialite from a wealthy family.
Born into both an academic family and money, Kara had been spoiled her whole life.
Her only setback was probably Ryan.
Thinking he was just some poor campus heartthrob, Kara figured she'd eventually win him over, so she kept trying every trick in the book.
But Ryan's heart was like stone.
No matter how she coaxed or tempted him, he showed no sign of wavering.
And then there was Lucy.
Looks-wise, Lucy was average at best.
Style-wise, Lucy couldn't compare to her at all.
Not to mention family background.
But in Ryan's world, there seemed to be only two types of women; Lucy and everyone else.
Just thinking about it made Kara furious.
"Yeah, I'm that low. But think whatever you want. Either way, if I can't have you, I won't let you have what you want either!"
Kara wasn't bothered at all. She looked at Ryan smugly and said, "Sweet love, right? I want to see how far your love can go without money and time ."
"I learned about finding people's weak spots when I was little. Ryan, I know you're angry, but whether you complain or report it, Lucy's scholarship isn't coming back. Empire University has so many students. Forget about other departments. Even in her own department, she's not the only excellent student, right? Why should it be her every year? What do you think?"
Watching Ryan's expression grow darker, Kara said with a smile, "I know you guys are great. Without the scholarship, you can still work part-time jobs. It's just a little money, you'll earn it eventually! But Ryan..."
Moving closer to Ryan, her eyes sliding over his handsome face, Kara said softly, "If she loses her chance to go straight to grad school, do you think Lucy will still try to get into graduate school?"
If she insisted on grad school, the tuition would be much higher than undergrad. With Lucy's family situation, they definitely couldn't help, so she'd have to take on more part-time jobs.
The already limited time they had for dates would shrink even more.
If she didn't go to grad school and looked for work instead, the distance between them would only grow.
Either way, breaking up would be almost inevitable.
"Ryan, I told you, you two aren't right for each other."
Looking at the guy whose looks perfectly matched her taste, Kara smiled brightly, turned her head, and whispered into Ryan's ear, "There's a shortcut right in front of you. Think about it carefully."
Seeing Ryan's eyes fill with disgust as he stepped back, Kara smiled and didn't seem to care.
She raised her hand and patted Ryan's shoulder, as if brushing off something dirty.
Kara smiled, "Someday you'll realize Lucy is nothing, and being with me is your best choice."
She took out a gold-embossed business card from her bag and tucked it into his shirt's pocket. Then she smiled and walked away in her high heels.
