Chapter 135 More Guilty
Food, clothes, and daily necessities for Rebecca, plus the professional books she'd asked someone to buy for her.
Art supplies and toys for Alex, along with a letter written to him by "Santa Claus."
In the blink of an eye, all the boxes were unwrapped.
"Thank you, honey!"
When Rebecca spoke to thank him, she felt inexplicably guilty.
The original plan was to go back to the old mansion with Frederick after school on Friday to pick up Alex. Then, when they returned to Pinewood Mansion, Frederick would play with Alex while Isabella would call at just the right moment to invite her out.
Then the two of them would go shopping.
That way, she could buy and prepare Christmas gifts for Frederick and Alex before Christmas Eve arrived.
However, plans never keep up with changes.
Everything got messed up.
Looking at the messy pile of unwrapped gift boxes on the floor.
Then, thinking about how she hadn't prepared anything.
Rebecca felt more and more guilty.
Turning around, she saw Alex get up and head toward the bedroom.
He came back with two boxes in his hands - who knows when he'd prepared them.
Inside Frederick's box was a painting.
The background showed a Ferris wheel, with snowflakes falling under blue skies and white clouds.
In the foreground were Frederick and Rebecca holding hands.
Frederick wore a black coat, his figure tall and straight.
Rebecca had on a white short down jacket, blue jeans, and black Martin boots.
Both were shown from behind, but anyone looking at the painting could tell immediately who they were.
The childlike painting style was full of bright colors, and the image of the two walking hand in hand radiated endless romance and warmth.
Frederick patted Alex's head. "I love it, thank you!"
Alex turned to look at Rebecca.
Rebecca held a palm-sized box.
The box had the Starlight Restaurant logo on it.
Rebecca had seen this box before, just in a different color.
Thinking Alex had given her a box of cookies, Rebecca smiled and looked up. "Thank you, Alex!"
When she opened the lid and saw what was inside, she blinked and froze.
Red agate.
Green jade.
Pink rose quartz.
Among them was also a transparent gemstone that looked like an uncut diamond.
A whole box of colorful gemstones of various sizes sparkled brilliantly under the bright crystal chandelier overhead.
A rough estimate - probably worth ten million.
"Alex..."
Rebecca stared at Alex in a daze. "This is... your Christmas gift for me?"
Alex nodded, his eyes clearly saying: Don't you girls all like these gemstones? They're all for you!
First, there were sausages.
Now, a box of colorful gemstones.
Rebecca was deeply moved.
Hugging Alex, Rebecca looked at Frederick behind him, whose eyes were full of amusement, and couldn't help laughing. "Frederick, does everyone in the Windsor family know how to prepare gifts like this?"
So good at making girls happy at such a young age - what would he be like when he grows up!
But what should she do about feeling even more guilty?
Biting her lip, Rebecca pinched Alex's cheek. "I prepared a Christmas gift for you, too, but I was in such a rush to find you yesterday that I forgot it in my dorm. I'll bring it to you when we come back next week, okay?"
Alex nodded obediently.
Looking up again, she met Frederick's knowing smile that saw right through her but said nothing.
Rebecca fell silent.
A car engine turned off outside, followed immediately by the doorbell ringing.
Frederick glanced at Rebecca. "Mrs. Windsor, time to receive your gift!"
Another gift?
Rebecca stood up and took Alex's hand to open the door.
