Chapter 14
In the middle of the road, Siddharth asked Raha, "Did Abhay call you?"
Raha took a moment to answer him, "N-no." She managed to speak.
"Hmm," he murmured.
He again started driving the car towards his mansion. They reached there, and Raha immediately opened the door because she just wanted to vanish herself from his gaze. Opening the door, she ran inside.
"Raha, don't run!" Siddharth shouted at her because she could fall at any time. Raha stopped running and started walking slowly yet quickly.
After reaching her room, Raha changed into nightwear. Later, she decided to work on some assignments because she already had some backlogs. Meanwhile, Siddharth in his room was engrossed in his office work. At 8, one of his maids called him to inform that dinner was ready. He closed all his work, shut the laptop, and went to Raha's room. He knocked on the door.
Raha, busy with her assignment, heard the door's sound. She got up from her chair and opened the door to find Siddharth standing right outside.
"Let's have dinner," Siddharth said coldly.
"Huh?" Raha was shocked and didn't know what to say.
"Come," he held her hand and led her out of the room. But Raha stopped him.
"I don't want to eat," Raha said to him.
"Why?" he asked.
"I'm not hungry, and also, I have some important college work," she replied.
"No, I won't let you stay hungry. So keep quiet and let's get your tummy filled," Siddharth said while dragging her towards the dining table.
Afterward, they went to the dining table, and Siddharth courteously made Raha sit. Raha was shocked to witness this unexpected side of him. The maids then served them, and Raha was in for another surprise—everything on the table was her favorite. Donuts, ramen, pizza, and a variety of items in pink, her preferred color, adorned the table.
"Eat," Siddharth said, breaking Raha's reverie.
"Hmm," Raha replied, her attention shifting back to reality. As he served some ramen onto her plate, she began eating, her hunger growing even more after seeing the tempting spread.
Siddharth observed her, finding satisfaction in her expression. Following her lead, he started eating his own food, or more accurately, his vegetables and salad. The atmosphere held a profound silence, while Raha remained engrossed in her world of eating.
"Raha," Siddharth called her name, breaking the silence. Raha glanced at him with her mouth full of a muffin. Siddharth smiled at her cuteness.
"I've got a series of Frozen; let's watch it after dinner," Siddharth said in a cold tone. Raha was shocked at his statement because Frozen was one of her favourite movies. She liked the characters Elsa, Anna, and her most favourite, Olaf. She couldn't deny him, but watching with him seemed like a bad idea. With a heavy heart, she replied, "I have an important assignment to submit; I can't watch today."
Siddharth got upset because he really wanted to spend time with her, but she always avoided him. Raha got up from her seat.
"Where? You haven't finished your plate," Siddharth said to Raha.
"I'm not hungry anymore," Raha replied and quickly left the dining area. She just wanted to distance herself from his presence.
Watching Raha, Siddharth realised that she was avoiding him. But why? Lost in thoughts about her, he also lost his appetite. He got up and went to his room.
While Siddharth was lost in his thoughts, he picked up his phone and dialed a number. The person on the other end picked up the call.
"Yes, sir?" he said.
"I will send you a photo of a person. You have to give me every single piece of information about that person within 24 hours," Siddharth instructed.
"Yes, sir," the man replied confidently.
Siddharth ended the call, took out a pack of cigarettes, and smoked, a dangerous smirk playing on his lips.
"Now dare to avoid me, little wife," he smirked.
The next day, Raha woke up and went about her usual routine. At the breakfast table, Siddharth didn't say anything to her, which surprised her. He only mentioned, "I'm waiting outside, come fast," before leaving.
Raha quickly packed her things and got into his car. Siddharth started driving, and today, he didn't attempt to engage in conversation with her, leaving her both happy and confused. Upon reaching her college, Raha got out of the car, and Siddharth still remained silent.
Siddharth was in his car; he dialled a number on his phone.
"Your work has started," Siddarth said in a deep voice.
"Yes, sir," the man on the call answered.
He cut the call and went to his office.
The day went by busy for Siddarth, with numerous meetings. He was deeply engrossed in his office work and couldn't make it to pick up Raha from college, as he was super busy.
In the evening, the man called him. Siddarth immediately picked up the call as he needed to know everything about Raha.
"Did you do your work?" Siddarth asked him.
"Yes, sir," the man said.
"Then speak," Siddarth demanded.
"So, Mam has continuous classes till 2 pm, then she went to the college cafe. She has two friends around her, and she spends most of her day there. She studied in the library. At 4:30, she met a boy. They had a lot of chit-chat, and she seemed very happy with him. At 5, they went to the cafe..." When the man was about to continue, Siddarth abruptly cut the call, full of anger. He threw the phone in some corner of his cabin. He was very angry, incredibly jealous.
"Fuck fuck fuck Why, the hell does she go to the cafe with any random boy? Did she forget she is married? Did she forget that she is someone's wife? Did she forget her limits? Damn, I am very angry with you, Raha," Siddharth said in full anger, frustration, and jealousy.
At night, Raha was studying in her room; it was 9 pm. She had already had her dinner and was busy with her studies. In the evening, she came home by herself because Siddharth didn't come to pick her. She waited for him until 6 pm, then took a cab to come home.
Raha looked at the clock; it was 9:00, but she was feeling sleepy due to her hectic day in college. She decided to sleep. Thinking about Siddharth, Raha believed he might have some work in his office, which is why he didn't come to pick her. Although she felt happy in the absence of his presence.
Raha sighed as she closed her books and set them aside. The dim light in her room created a cozy ambiance. She stood up, stretching her tired muscles, and walked towards her wardrobe. After changing into her comfortable nightwear, she glanced at herself in the mirror.
Her reflection seemed a bit different tonight. The events of the day had left their mark on her, yet there was a subtle resilience in her eyes. Raha brushed her hair gently, contemplating the unexpected twists life had taken recently.
With a final glance at the room, she turned off the soft lamp, leaving only the faint glow of the moonlight filtering through the curtains. The bed seemed inviting, and she slipped under the warm covers, feeling a mix of emotions.
Raha, already nestled in bed, was taken aback to see Siddharth came in her room and approaching, preparing to sleep beside her.
"Why are you sleeping here?" she asked, in surprise in her voice.
"This is my house. I can sleep anywhere. I don't need your permission," he replied calmly, claiming his right to any space.
He grabbed a blanket and settled in next to her. As he heard her footsteps and noticed her getting up, curiosity got the better of him.
"Where are you going?" he asked with a hint of urgency.
"In another room," she replied, her intention clear.
"Darn it, little girl, come and sleep beside me. You are not allowed to sleep without me from today," he declared, leaving her shocked by his sudden request. The room filled with an undeniable sense of tension as they navigated this unexpected turn in their nightly routine.
